@SirLaughsOLot tbh it's varied. The game that got away with a low rating despite being pretty violent is the sniper elite series which every game apart from zombie army is rated a 16 which is between a T and m rating

@SirLaughsOLot yes it's called pegi used to be rated by both pegi and the bbfc (the people that rate the movies) but it was then changed. To only pegi as more people found their ratings more reliable and safer

Yeah it’s strange it’s rated M in the US as in the uk it’s a 12 and really Doesent need to be any higher, and the first 18 rated game I owned was jaws unleashed...parents knew how much I loved jaws and the fact it was a shark eating people makes it less violent apparently 😂 fairly sure that purchase was followed by mortal kombat shaolin monks and then it all went to hell haha
"This Mental guy decided to clone me to kill me. Problem is, he cloned the *WRONG* fucking guy..." That's how Sam himself would sum up this game.
“It’s a Square.” I laughed at this way more than I should have.

There was back and forth between Croteam and Climax, and Climax received some assets from Croteam for reference but not a ton overall. Earlier builds of the game drew more from the interface of the PC game (should be a video or two on my channel I think), but they changed it during development to get what we got. The PS2 game was an afterthought, Gamecube was the primary platform, and the PS2 didn't come until later. It also had a different title at one point, Serious Sam Word to the Mothership.
This was absolutely the first Serious Sam game I ever played. Played it at a friends house on his gamecube, and weird controller design aside IMO, I remember it very fondly.
Can we get some likes for how neato this video is like it's pretty top tier neato if you ask me
Silen Hill Next Encounter needs to happen, I don't care if Jarek made a mistake in saying the title.

There IS going to be Serious Sam 2 Reboot. With the artstyle of the Serious Sam HD/The Talos Principle of course.... As for Next Encounter... well... there was a Remake on the plans by the community, but it's CURSED. Best advice, go outside of the box for this one just like how Black Mesa remade Half-Life 1.
@atk1152

well if they owns the rights for this game but climax shutdown long ago and they don't involve in this project so probably the engine climax use is different, so a very low chance of Croteam remake this version is very little about SS2 they do said they want to remake it but not for now for me, i wish the level art design of Climax got Hire by Croteam to do the level, because i love Climax level design

Oh the nostalgia. I used to play this game with my cousin in the co-op story mode on her brother's PS2 when I was probably like 7-8. It would always freeze on this one specific cutscene, and we would just start over and replay it to that point for hours. I thought of this game just a few months ago and was extremely shocked to learn it wasn't a mainline entry. I thought this game was fantastic.
I tryed playing Megaman: Wily Wars on Retroarch, using a Gamecube Controller made by HORI (compatible with Switch, since it has a USB Cable), I even tryed to record a entire walkthrough of MM1 and MM2 with this gamecube controller...I'm such a masochist
The worst part about the Gamecube controller is that d pad. Deadly Alliance is near impossible to play without ruining your left thumb on the tiny buttons

It makes me so happy to see you cover this game. It's something that should at least be on the radar for your audience, even if I know not everyone enjoys the Sam style of FPS. Now, everyone please go watch Decino's playthrough of the game. He really showed everything the game has to offer, and he's entertaining, too.
thought this was was 2 for a second, thanks for covering this one.
This was actually my 1st Serious Sam game and my 1st M rated game cause my dad never checked game ratings
Ha! This was my first Serious Sam game too! Played it on Gamecube in splitscreen with my brother. Definitely one of the best in the series. Lots of secret levels for gold medals, and in one you even drive a friggin' combine through waves of enemies. Good stuff.

To this day, Next Encounter is the only Serious Sam game ive ever played
TNE was my first serious sam, infact i lined up quite nice with the "i only had melee and timesplitters 2." pretty much same. i remember when breaking into PC gaming i saw the HD serious sams and thought "the one i played has to be in here somewhere". it isnt, but i got introduced to croteams serious sam and i couldnt be happier. TNE is so solid that i prefer to remember TNE over 2. and yes, i really fucking hate 2. not JUST because of its graphics, but because the grenade trivializes the game.
Thank you for making these videos, Jarek. I'd honestly love to see you cover just about anything - not because your videos are the flashiest, or the highest effort, or offer the most in-depth, enlightening insight.. this too , was my first serious sam game. If i think about it, it might have even been my first FPS. ill always love and cherish it somewhat ... i appreciate it ... wish it was more available
Love the next encounter, my favourite one out of the lot for me, also the first Serious Sam game I’d ever played or heard of then moved onto the first & second encounter.
I still hope that some day a remaster will happen, and I will keep on hoping. If anything, we need to get Nightdive Studios to do it.
Hey Jarek! This is my first comment since watching your videos for a month and having subscribed. I love the fact that you review many obscure games as well and want to thank you for providing good and mostly objective reviews as well as introducing me and others to fantastic games like Legendary, Necrovision and Prey 06. If you do take requests even now, how do you feel about reviewing the older Call of Duty ww2 games specifically COD WAW? I would like to see your take on it as I enjoyed it personally but found that nowadays its fashion to ridicule it in favor of the newer COD WWII. As always, keep up the good work.

Weird to concider it forgotten when it was my first encounter (harr harr) with the series. Also it was fun and ran at 60 on gamecube. Comfy.
This was legit my first Serious Sam game. In fact I played the demo version on PS2
wooooow i played that game almost everyday on the ps2
19:27, I know I've said this on the Premiere, but the Highlanders DO APPEAR in Serious Sam 1 (First Encounter and Second Encounter), and aren't super annoying at those games, and usually spawn in farther distances or just don't move at all such as the Highlander's Bride in the Secret Round 2 of Tower of Babel, unlike in Next Encounter. Highlanders in Next Encounter are definitely annoying especially that their fireballs almost deal the same damage as your rockets. Same goes to the Highlanders in TSE Classics because of their OBNOXIOUS resistance to cannonballs - not the case anymore with Serious Sam HD despite them having TSE stats except for resistance to cannons.
Best one. I remember playing as a kid and i had to play with the flower gore instead lol
this is the only serious sam game ive ever played and i had never known about the series at all but i loved this on ps2

Yea so the og serious Sam on og Xbox was my first shooter and I remember this game well and wanted to replay it, thanks for showing me what this title was called as I knew serious Sam 2 was not this game, this serious Sam the next encounter was so fun, wish they made it on pc
@JarekTheGamingDragon Out of curiosity, is there a possible chance for the other Serious Sam Games for this list? Maybe even Serious Sam 4? I only ask because this is probably one of the first shooters that I honestly played, before I got my hands on Half life at around 2005-07 or so, and it would be great to see what your thoughts are on the games as well.
Silent Hill next encounter put a smile on my face
I think the laughing gas was supposed to be a reference to the Joker from the Batman series (I say series because the laughing gas has been used in Comics, video games and TV shows alike)
The only serious sam game i played, and i loooove it
Would you ever consider doing a vid on tenchu z or the first 2 tenchu games?

maybe (hopefully) someday it'll fully come to PC, but deep down I know that's a pipe dream.
I remember playing this game on ps2 it was my first ever serious sam game before getting into the original series and I gotta say although it wasn't as popular as its predecessors it still defines serious sam I like the locations they made for the game and the monsters but one of the things that stood out to me was the soundtrack
Wow id never thought Serious sam enviroments could look so nice. The Atlantis one is incredible

I honestly find Egypt and Babylon the best areas in Serious Sam. They look 100% better in HD. Karnak looks better in HD than in the Classics. Those walls in Babylon (the one with the lion on it) DO MATCH those said Babylon walls in real life. Medieval is the only thing where Classics is better looking. The Talos Principle's iteration of Medieval is also better than in HD.
Silent Hill: Next Encounter is the silent hill game we all need lol
It's honestly an underrated gem
Please analyse "Will Rock" Its a really forgotten gem of my childhood. Its probably not that good these games, but damn it made an impression

A group of fans were actually working on an HD remake of this as a mod for TSE, but it was never finished. Honestly, I'm not even fussed about having it remade in HD, I'd be happy with a slightly polished up official PC port.

Unless I'm just not seeing another comment about it (YT Mobile can be pretty shitty sometimes, especially with the comments section), this cartoony aesthetic actually starts with the original Xbox port of both First and Second Encounter. Gotham Games handled the publishing, but I'm not sure if they handled the port itself. The Xbox port was actually my first Serious Sam game. This was really confusing for me when I made the transition to PC and saw that the PC versions of First and Second Encounter were not as cartoony. It's the exact same, otherwise. I think some secrets got cut. My biggest complaint about Next Encounter was that it was a bit long. Each individual level felt like an hour per level. I just wish that the Next Encounter HD project didn't get canned.
You should review Red Faction
I'd love to get a PC remake after SS4
