Analyzing load testing results in k6 Cloud

Ғылым және технология

Analyzing load testing results can be difficult because of the amount of datapoints a test generates. k6 Cloud uses smart algorithms to point out performance insights so you always know exactly how your application responded to a load test.

May I know what is the difference between the displayed Average Response Time under Performance Overview and the Average Response Time (P95 and P99) displayed? If I want to know the main/actual average response time of the scenario (I need to state it in the report. Requirement: Scenario is passed if the scenario has KPI of less than 3 seconds)...what average response time should I refer to? Is it the P95, P99 or from Performance Overview Response Time? Thanks!

Hi there! "Average" is the mean, so it's the total of all measured response times divided by the number of measurements. P95, P99, etc. are percentiles. A 95th percentile response time of 3 seconds means that 95% of all the measurements were 3 seconds or less. It sounds like your requirements are rather vague (totally normal), so in that case you'll have to confirm with the team what was actually expected. I tend to prefer percentiles because they give more of an indication of the spread of the values, but it's something you should decide on based on your own circumstances. - Nicole
