Perkins is still salty that Curry accidentally stepped on him in the 2018 finals. He got in an argument with Curry and then Curry went and broke the record for most 3s in a finals game.

Kendrick was a bum as a player and is a bum as an analyst. I have no issue with these bozo pundits that solely look to stir the pot but get push back responses from respected players. Perk had a lot of shit to talk about the warriors and he's gotta walk that down whether he wants to or not. Dray said it early on in the season "don't let us win another championship". Now here we are and he's fully entitled to talk his talk.

Skip is horrible, but I get his role, being a troll makes attention which bring money. But perkins? Hmm they already have stephen A for that...why do they need perkins since stephen a is a way better than him. He acts like he brings insight as a former nba player and player's view point...but really??? JJ may not be always right because when it comes to sports so many variables, but atleast he really believes in his perspective and tries to bring insights of players point of view without being obnoxious. And he is not even likable or funny. And he has this weird complex issues to players who can do what he can't do, and put down those players. And why does he have problems with european players??? He never gives credit for them. I bet there is so many former funny and smarter nba players who are dying for his position.

Based on perks time in the media I think it's pretty clear he never really new how to play the game. He was big and strong and knew his small role but nothing else beyond that. Other players who turned to the media like Richard Jefferson and JJ Redick actually explain what is happening in the game showing their knowledge rather than sticking to "hot takes" Perkins doesn't know the game but he wants to be heard so these it's easy for him to just stir up bullshit and then not take accountability for being stupid.

When Green went on his social media and called out Perkin's, labeling him with the instant iconic soundbite, and I quote: 'Hey, you don't gotta always be Enforcer The C**n.' *rhymes with loon* First off, I love how Green knew EXACTLY what he was doing, how he actually said it in a throw away manner emphasizing other points in his State of the Green address, but knowing full well what the press and Perkin's would laser in on, Green knows people, he knows human nature, he knows how to read people, fitting for a man who makes a living reading people and offenses, defenses. He knows what buttons to push and seems somehow removed from it all even as he is knee deep in it. Green is a MFin' genius at life.

Good clarity to this back and forth but one thing you didn’t mention was as during the Olympics which was played last summer in 21 because the pandemic pushed it to 2021 instead of 2020. Perk had made a comment that the world players have taken over basketball pretty much dismissing US players because they lost a few in the preliminarily round. After US won the gold KD went live to address the disrespect on the US team and calling out folks doubting them during the process then Draymond who was also on the team join him on his live and said Kendrick Perkins in particular on what he said about the US players and Draymond said Act Like You are American. So that’s part of the storyline as well but you still did a good job breaking down the beef but this was part of it too.

I loved the bit where you pointed out how Perkins completely contradicted himself by saying that no one's saying that Curry needs a Finals MVP when he's the one that's been spewing that garbage all over the airwaves! I for one wouldn't be the least bit upset if Perkins is ousted from ever appearing on TV again. He talks like he's holding acorns in his mouth and his hot takes are hot garbage.

Since starting to watch NBA again the level of nonsense that goes on seems bizarre. The more outlandish media commentators seem to perpetuate the rubbish because they are so desperate for ratings or to be heard. I would rather listen to voices of the players and look at the stats. Let the players actions do the talking. Skip past the dross. ✌️ 🏀

cedric maxwell seems to forget that there was a very similar player to draymond green in the 80's/90's... his name was dennis rodman. whole lot of the same antics. he needs to stop acting like this is a new thing. bruce bowen did the same things before draymond as well (though bowen was dirty as hell always getting under shooters feet so they couldn't land. that pop complained about zaza doing that when he had bowen on his team and praised him as a good defender was hypocrisy at it's finest. lost a lot of respect for pop over that one.)

Why do so many talking heads keep bringing up the 80's or 90's where fighting, shoving were so prevalent? Those do not define talent and skill. They define hooliganism. They disguise the lack of talent. Sure if you shove a guy away and get a free shot at the basket, you can bloat your score up. Sure, you can be completely out of shape and still throw a punch. My question is how many of those players of old would survive in TODAY's NBA where skills and talent and perseverance and physical conditioning are paramount? Now you can not simply bully your way to the basket, you have to run complex plays. You have to shoot from the 3 point line. You have to switch and hustle on defense. Probably some of those old timers wouldn't even qualify to be drafted nowadays.

Hey Tooforwon. Just a small suggestion, when showing clips of perkins or interviews with players. Maybe add the date if its not too much work. Like how much time passed between perkins saying Curry needed to win the finals and finals mvp to solidify his legacy to flip flopping to the other position. I keep up with the NFL mainly but I like this type of sports content in general. Adding some dates would establish timeline more effectively to noobs like me. I know it must be obvious to NBA fans when all this occurred. At least the tweets have a timestamp. You dont have to do it. The content is still really good!

@@tooforwon241 you put so much effort putting everything in chronological order. It would be a shame if it were misconstrued. You also mentioned you havent seen much 80s and 90s ball. Thats sort of my wheel house. The fun thing about that time is that the rivalries were fierce. In the sense that teams HATED each other. Bill lambier would stick his feet under larry bird if he tried to jump, just to twist his ankles and injure him. Bird would make sure his knee met Lambiers groin. The refs would be oblivious unless fists were swung. Magic and bird hated each other in college. For 15-20 years. Until 1986 when they filmed a converse commercial together. They became best friends after that and Bird would go on to defend Magic when he was diagnosed with HIV and advocated for him to play in the 92 olympics for the dream team. Back then HIV made you a pariah. So for Bird to publicly defend him meant alot to me as a Laker fan (I was 5 but still). If you ever run out of contemporary basketball ball material. Theres good stuff in those days too. Players were motivated by money sure. But they were happy to let the fans know they hated their rivals even more than the fans did. And when Bird reconciled with Magic, the competitiveness never left but there was a new found respect which to me exemplifies the best qualities of sportsmanship.
