NOTE: Lots of people are pointing out that Nintendo released a few "commentary free" versions of the demonstration on Twitter. But, I started editing this video BEFORE Nintendo released those clips. I also don't use Twitter that much... so that didn't help. 😅 Anyways, this video is different from what I normally do, but I was super excited to make this one!

Something I noticed with the skydive music, if you listen really closely to the flute it plays a "Ballad of the Goddess" motif, so even more connections to Skyward Sword! Gah, I'm so excited, I feel like Hylia is gonna have such a big role in this game. Never thought 4 little notes could make me even more excited for this game!

Honestly the skydiving music to me sounds like it's only the intro to a much larger music piece, because it sounds like it's about to crescendo into a much bigger song right before Link hits the water. And that makes me excited because it implies there might be much longer skydiving sections and really makes me wonder how high these sky islands really go
@cameronwidner9971

@Lavendelaura I had the same thought too, really looking forward to hearing the whole thing. Unlocking more of the song by reaching higher islands sounds like such a cool and rewarding idea too, really hope that is the case!

I felt “when I get frustrated by something, I just wiggle my stick” on a personal level
I saw a few KZreadrs mention that the music in TotK was the same as BOTW, but I learned in this video that they made a ton of new music and sound effects for this game. It’s super exciting that they are merging the music from BOTW with new music in this game because BOTW had amazing and beautiful music. It’s the best of both worlds!
Breath of the wild's sound design is some of my favourite overall. Like that satisfying 'ping' noise when you get a head shot. I'm so happy to see that level of detail is continuing in this game.
4:30 Can we take a moment and appreciate Aonuma's sound effects on the long ascend
This is such an awesome video. I never really listen too close to the audio in games, or hell, care too much about the underlying sounds layered on top of each other. This video is now my reason to really appreciate the work that goes into game making. Thank you!
Just the sounds of the game alone make me more hype! This game is gonna be amazing. 😄
You mentioning the pottery sounds made me realize that the Constructs are just FUSED TOGETHER pottery, which goes with their name, as they were CONSTRUCTED. Which also makes sense why they have a Zonai Charge, because when you fuse a stick with a rock, it wouldn’t come to life, so the same would go with the constructs!
From the sounds of it I think the recall R2D2 sound is actually a record scratching, probably meant to give the vibe of spinning a record back by hand
Interesting idea! Reminds me of when people were listening to the theme of the first teaser in reverse and hearing stuff😂
Finally someone brings up about the music! I too hear the woodwinds n immediately find that its super fitting, cos it’s airy. While botw concept is base on what they dub as “open air”, thats still more on the ambience sounds n piano as the lightweight instrument, the woodwinds for sky islands just gives the extra airiness n mysteriousness to it.

Great editing, great thumbnails - excited to see this channel blow up!
I am very happy to see people appreciating the work of sound designers! There's so many neat things and thought that goes into sound designing, so sometimes it's a little sad to see it be overshadowed by music/gameplay (as good as the music and gameplay may be!). All components of the game seem to have so much love, time and care poured into them, so they all deserve a huge amount of appreciation. I've always been so enamoured by the footstep sounds put into the game, the way they change depending on the surface you walk on and all that, really makes me appreciate how much time must've gone into something as small as the sound of footsteps. Honestly I could go on and on how much I adore the sound design that goes into games. I don't think people appreciate it enough, something as small as sound effects really makes or breaks a game. I can't wait to see what other ear candy (both sfx and music wise) will go into TOTK!
I am glad to see the bass clarinet and baritone saxophone representation. 😅😂 I play both and usually they are not mentioned so I enjoy seeing the pictures of both. ❤❤❤
there is also a new music for either dueling peaks or when you are near a fallen sky island chunk
Super glad you joined that stream or I dunno if I ever would have found your channel otherwise. I'm studying sound design at college right now, and am EAGERLY awaiting this game's release. Breath of the Wild was basically the gold standard for sound design in a game, so I am stoked to see what Tears of the Kingdom does to expand this. Great analysis!
This is why I wanna work with game design, I love how visual and audio design make such a big difference in the environment and can make you feel so many different feelings and I just LOVE ITTTT
Sounddesign is so important for the experience, in a game or movie. Likewise music to give you a feeleing of the scene. Interesting breakdown of this part of the game. Thank you! 🇨🇭

It always make me smile when someone makes an analysis of the sound design in the new zeldas. The amount of work they put composing all this is incredible
I really cannot wait for the new ost of this game! The recall sound affect is for some reason really satysfying in a weird way. Also putting the instruments on screen really does help hearing the music cuz i really could not hear it before when i tried. The instruments on screen really helped
this gameplay footage has made me realise why this game took so long. Imagine the time it took to perfect this and prevent bugs!

Great video!! I do love the sounds in TotK as well! This was a great analysis and covered just about everything! Edit: Also Nintendo also put on their Instagram (and Twitter I assume) videos with the raw game audio. I don’t know if you knew that or not, however it’s not of all the game so it probably wouldn’t be good for this video anyway lol
When you run out of time on the recall power the sound effect you here is the same sound as when you grab a heart in super Mario brothers two for original Nintendo. There’s a a lot of nostalgic music in this
loved this analysis, thank you so much

This was so great! Thanks for all the insights!
I love how you got into the little details of the music!! Great Video! And it really shows how much thought and effort Nintendo puts into the small details of their games.... I think the woodwind instruments make a lot of sense in this game- wind forest magic etc 💚💚💚
Please do more this is my favorite type of video and you do it so wonderfully please consider turning this into a mini series
Nice Breakdown of all the noises, love the Yoshi footage. Hope you have a great day!

Talk about a creative idea! Way to take a unique approach to the gameplay trailer 😮
Regarding the music, I've seen a few folks mention the audio effects in the trailer that were indicative of backtracked audio. I've made music with the same effect myself. There was no hidden message as far as anyone could tell, but I saw someone point out that, sure enough, the Blood Moon scene in BOTW has similar backtracked music, which in that case seems to itself be reversed audio from a rather haunting piano piece. Backtracked music doesn't have to be a secret ARG message, it can easily just be a musical effect.
Okay whoaaaaa That piano and woodwind mix when you're transitioning from sky to ground is EXTREMELY clever
i didn't notice the sounds as much, also your content is so good that i keep forgetting that you dont have 100k yet i always think you have at least 2.5m subs
Love this style of vid for you!!
I love these sound analysis breakdown! (Reminds me of Scruffy's 'Invisible Sound Design in BotW' video from years ago) I hope you will make more when this game comes out!
I like how you had the minecraft song playing during a zelda video. ( I bet you didn't think anyone would catch that!)
i have been watching totk content nonstop; i cannot wait
I love that I found this video. I never really appreciated totk’s background music much until now!

Haven't watched the gameplay yet so as not to spoil anything else, but this is a really cool video idea. And also: almost 100k subs HYPE!
Great job exploring a new perspective! If you end up doing more of these in the future, 8-Bit Music Theory is another KZread channel that is spectacular about the music!
Man I love the sounds, they are so satisfying.
I been listening to the no commentary version and It seems like there is multiple intros/versions to the combat music (in botw there where different keys but the same intro). I'm betting they are using the dynamic system like botw's combat music so I'm real excited to hear the high level enemy track
The sound in this game is award winning and mind blowing. I am on my third playthrough and I _still_ hear new things. The best sound design is the kind you don't notice because it sounds like it belongs. Kudos to the music and sounds team. 👏👏👏👏

really great video
Whenever I see a new upload by The Bread Pirate, it brings a smile to my face.
I’m really hoping for some of the “classic” style Zelda tracks. I know some of my favorite jams are jazz renditions of Zelda tracks from games pre-botw. While I liked the understated tone of botw in general and loved the shrine theme, and ganon’s castle, most of the tracks just aren’t really “jams” in the same way they have been in the past. Great video!

Midna's Lament is a classic. Obviously Saria's Song (Lost Woods) and Gerudo Valley. Zelda's Lullaby, Ganon's Castle and so many more! I hope that they go back to making songs like that for TotK.

"When I get frustrated I wiggle my stick" - The Bread Pirate 2023
I never noticed the main theme motif! In BotW, you could hear bits of the main theme throughout the game, and only heard the full thing in the final credits, like a reward for beating the game. I think it would be really cool if TotK does this too. You can also see the similarity in the fact that both main themes appear to have 2 distinct sections, like in BotW there's the first bit, which is calmer (heard partially in the opening cutscene on the plateau) and the second, which is more exciting and you hear in the Dark Beast Ganon fight. TotK seems to have this with the bit we've heard in previous trailers, and this new bit we heard in the demonstration (compared in this video with the BotW theme.) I hope this all makes sense, its hard to explain music with no sound! I can't wait to see all the in-depth musical analysis videos people will undoubtedly make on this game, but only after hearing as much as possible myself. Unfortunately for me I'm going to have to wait for over a month after release to play this because of my GCSEs, but I cannot wait!
wow, great video.
That cat post-credit scene was better than the last 5 MCU movies.

i just realized, that "unstick" function mapped on stick wiggle gonna bring the hell onto people with stick drift XD
The r2d2 noodle thing is the Perfect description
YOO! A new upload 😊
The new theme sounds like a reimagining of Breath of the Wild's which is fitting. I've also heard Age of Calamity's theme featured in several Tears of the Kingdom's trailer music, yet I haven't seen anyone mention it. Anyway, what great and fun video!!🎶
I like this video idea Words cannot express how excited I am for this games ost.
"When I'm frustrated I wiggle my stick" The Bread Pirate - 2023
just noticed something, when he fuses the log to the stick to make stick log after that he fuses a rock, everyone i've seen have been saying he fused the rock to his SHIELD, but after he fuses it, it shows a weapon damage up icon, indicating he fused to his weapon, so you CAN fuse an item to an already fused item.
My friend who mains in playing animal crossing watching me play Zelda and breaking pots “ Stop it” Me “Pots it, oh ok” (crack)
Thanks for a great video Breadfox pirate! Or should you be the syrup pirate?
The sound the items makes when it is recalled tickles my ears
6:50 do you think that we wiggle the stick this way so we are discouraged to use this ability as a weapon. Throwing it back and forth like the metallic objects with magnesis in botw?
You've got my sub
Solid theories man! I have one question though: Are you related to the Lego youtuber @TheB3 since I know that the brothers running that channel are Zelda fans, and you have similar editing styles. I only hear one person voicing their videos so I was wondering if you were the second brother.
When i saw the gameplay showcase it was amazing, i analyzed every single bit of it, now all we need is to wait for the gane to release
Old video, but I think it's a super interesting detail the fact that the dominant instrument in the sky is a sort of soprano saxophone.
Hi I am a fan and love your videos
Hehe I love the lil contructs when one is about to attack it sounds like they are murmuring "what the fudge?!" And it makes me giggle
Interesting choice of music when talking about ultra hand. Kind of reminds of excavation and building.
I'm so happy someone else loved the little splash rain!
