Sky News military analyst Prof Michael Clarke looks at what may have happened overnight amid reports Israel launched an attack on Iran.
Explosions were reported in the Iranian city Isfahan, which has nuclear facilities and a military base.
It follows an Iranian attack on Israel over the weekend in response to a strike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus.

@@urilahat8090 no one in history struck Israeli airbases so successfully either. The drones were decoys to exhaust Israeli air defenses which they successfully did and paved the way for those ballistic missiles that followed them and struck those air bases. It took four countries to stop that attack yet they managed to hit their targets so yeah quite successful i'd say.

I agree. The entire conversation was a lot more salient than I expected on MSM, but that specific point I agree is likely rubbish. Iran knew Israel has great air defense. It was a symbolic strike that 1) safes face and 2) gives them intel on anti-air capabilities.

I'm pretty sure Netanyahu's aim was never just to do a tit for tat against Iran or to just send a message, but to escalate the war so that the world's focus shifts away from Gaza. Iran knows that the Israeli air defense systems are "best in class". That is why, as Michael Clarke explained, they have to send hundreds of drones and missiles whereas Israel only needs to send a few. That is not a good situation for the Iranian religious junta to be in. Their missiles always get through, very few of ours ever will!!

The Israeli attack is propaganda as there has been no actual explosion in Iran and the sound of the explosion was due to air-defence activation in response to some tiny flying objects probably local drones or as part of a military exercise in case of a real attack one day!

Russia is not threatened by invasion and will not use nuclear weapons but Israel is very different. Israel will use nuclear weapons to protect their existence if they have to. The Chinese, who are sponsoring Iran and the Houtis to destabilise the world in order to create a new world order, are misjudging this badly. I hope China realises before it is too late. Israel will not end the world but they will defend their country with what they have, if they have to. Including nuclear weapons

Israel sent only 6 and they got through . Iran sent 350 and none got through. It is a warning shot. They can destroyed Iran if they want . Iran has no effective air defenses.
