    Roman less lag compared to any other display on the market. They work by displaying electrons on a screen. It purely electrical cutting out any conversion time. Therefore they work in nanoseconds?? instead of milliseconds that most monitors work in. It also helps that our game runs in the native resolution of most crt's. Modern displays have to upscale av inputs to display them usually. (Takes extra time) So we only have to deal with the gamecube lag. nothing else.

    I find myself agreeing with a lot of AngryJoe's points. Cultivating a new generation of fighting game fans should be a high priority when releasing a new installment. I can appreciate what SFV has done for the competitive scene, but the Street Fighter name has a lot of impact outside of the FGC, and there is a ton of potential for growth by tapping into that. Looking at the terrific sales MKX has been experiencing, one can easily see a best of both worlds scenario. It has a solid spot at EVO and has a healthy competitive scene, and it has gained a lot of critical/commercial success due to the lengthy story mode, the fan favorite dlc characters, wealth of optional extras, etc. The decision to release SFV with a more in depth story mode was a step in the right direction, but the decision to release the game in installments shows that there is a lot of progress that can still be made.

  • @CoreAGaming

    @CoreAGaming

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Christian Hansen Yeah, MKX really nailed it in so many areas, and Capcom does look like they're wasting the potential of their franchise. I think they wanted to release all the content at once, but couldn't wait another year.

  • @ChoooooChoooTrain

    @ChoooooChoooTrain

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Christian Hansen "Looking at the terrific sales MKX has been experiencing, one can easily see a best of both worlds scenario" I disagree with this While MKX has a decent community still going, it isn't considerably bigger that others and I don't think there is any noticeable difference from attracting a casual crowd. It sold 5 million but I don't see many fresh faces on the competitive scene who's focus is MKX, the most it did was make SonicFox slightly better known who was already making a lot of noise. There doesn't really seem to have been a transition from the single player to the competitive scene, and if you look at achievements for the game (you can see the total from various websites) most people don't actually take advantage of how fully featured it is. Basically what I'm saying is there isn't a directly correlation between single player content and growth, logically it makes sense that one could but it isn't there.

  • @paulcastillo8256

    @paulcastillo8256

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Christian Hansen I dunno. IF anything what SFV sorta achieved with being a faster game and less on complicated universal tech is not trying to get "fresh" new players integrated into the game, but a bigger crossover from other player bases and even older Capcom Fighter players liking SFV enough to pick it up in the long run. Its not like MKX where its play style allows for casuals to come in, play with 50/50s and start feeling themselves immediately with their progress. Worked amazingly well in a financial sense of course but their community remains relatively small and static. SFV sadly isn't a game made for casuals even though there were plans to make it accessible to them. It just has a lower learning curve in competency. But when you are in there, you are in there for the long haul and if you don't want to put more time and effort you probably won't enjoy it at all.

    In hindsight Netherrealm and ArcSys have gone through 3 games each while Capcom keeps building upon SFV with each year. For a competitive scene this is better because it means your effort remains relevant for longer, and it shows by how consistent the attendance is while other games like DBFZ and Ultimate spike to later cool down.

    This is surprisingly accurate, the kind of thing that is rare to see on the internet. I'm a marketer, capcom's strategy with SFV felt clear from day one and you covered it well by including social media, seeing how these very tournaments will keep the game relevant for years, reaching more people and provide slow, but steady sales for a very long time. Radiant being bought by Riot is also something to keep an eye on, might be a big game changer in the future of fighting game eSports. I'm also a competitor in Smash Bros., and also worked on PM. And you touched very well on these points, the only thing that is not very well known yet is that Sakurai's vision with smash only became of a casual party game only with Brawl. Sourcegaming has all of the translated articles where Sakurai makes clear that melee was made for experienced players, and was aiming to be very deep. The core of the divide in the Smash community comes from the design documents, that divided the series' publics themselves. Melee and Brawl / Smash 4, were not made to the same public, and the state of the community, the refusal of Melee players to go the next game makes that clear, Melee never had a sequel. PM enjoyed great success by how it united parts of the Melee community, and the stagnated Brawl community at the time, people who wanted to see and play new things, it would most likely keep rising if not for the known developments. The potential of an official game that unites the Melee and Smash 4 community is indeed immense, most people don't realize that, it's a game that could pontetially become bigger than SF with enough support. But of course, the game needs licensing of things like music, prepared to deal with streams and etc, it would suck to have a great stage out of tournaments because of the music. Great video, def gained you a subscriber.

  • @LealFireball

    @LealFireball

    ***** No problem, you're welcome. As far as I know they could yes just turn the music off or mute the game altogether and not have issues with the audio unless there's some loophole in the license. Ideally though, the licenses should be ready to account for these kind of things.

    +Đorđe Stamenković They do get alot of attention, because arc always caters to their core base first before going to casual fans. However they don't alienate the casuals either. They cater to the core through arcade releases to get the balancing right, and then by console release they have all the content casual players want like modes, unlockables, story etc. Arc games are also deceptively easy to play at first glance so they are not hard to get into but the depth of play is so vast that you end up playing them for years. Not to knock capcom this toss, but Arc is better at this than they are now. It's just that arc doesn't have a huge pop culture following outside ggx or blazblue.

    Yeah ultimate was an epic fail in trying to unite the melee and sm4sh communities. The game is still kinda trash competitively to the huge buffer window and feels just a little faster than sm4sh but not to the extent melee was at... and not even close. Plus it has almost no tech in the game, unlike BOTH melee and sm4sh. Sm4sh had glide tossing, bidou, jump cancelled up smash, etc. Melee had L-cancelling, wavedashing, dash dancing was a big thing, shine cancelling (just wavedashing but fox shine), and it introduced teching and DI. Also sm4sh had vectoring. Ultimate has wavelanding and that's about it. There are some character exclusive techs like shulk's dial storage but that's it.

  • @poshcatterson1790

    @poshcatterson1790

    4 жыл бұрын

    Well, ultimate has this weird dash tilt cancel thing (I haven’t heard a name for it, but you dash input a tilt and then dash again) that lets you gan extra distance, it still has jump cancel up-smash, it doesn’t matter that melee introduced DI and teching if ultimate still has them, bidou is still in ultimate but is just as impractical. Also fox jumping out of shine is an intended game mechanic, and l-canceling is a stupid barrier to entry that makes the pressing of a button tied to life or death. Melee will always have more tech, but ultimate shouldn’t be discounted so easily. Nintendo shouldn’t have removed shield dropping though.

    I didn't think I would offer *Neoxon Notes* for anyone other than Omni, but here goes... - To be quite honest, I don't expect Smash games to become more similar to Melee unless Nintendo moves on with Smash without Sakurai (which I doubt, since it would put the quality of the next game overall at risk). As for Melee HD, I doubt that'll happen since Bandai Namco is supposedly doing a Smash 4 port for the NX Platform's launch (likely including all of the DLC characters), which does indicate that Nintendo's putting their competitive eggs in Smash 4 & Pokkén Tournament's baskets (which would only go south if Nintendo offers no wired controller for the NX Console). Speaking of Pokkén.... - Because Pokkén Tournament is releasing at the tail-end of the Wii U's life, it does bring up a number of issues. For starters, unless Bandai Namco & The Pokémon Company already started work on DLC like Capcom did for SFV, I doubt that we'll get any DLC unless the NX Platform gets a "Super Pokkén Tournament" of sorts, with any additional characters, stages, & balances changes being added to the Wii U version via a DLC update similar to AE/Ultra for SFIV. - As far as Street Fighter V sales go, going the Splatoon route seems to be their best option. What Nintendo ended up doing after Splatoon's barebones launch was advertise the shit out of the game again when the August 2015 update came out. If Capcom does the same for either the Cinematic Story Mode or the completion of the Wave 1 DLC characters, they may see a second wind of sales from casuals. Either that or they release "Street Fighter V: 2016 Season Collection" that includes all of the Wave 1 DLC without the need of grinding for Fight Money, putting newcomers in a position where they don't have to grind like hell to catch up with the rest of us (& also not screwing over early adopters, since the disc would basically be the base game plus the Wave 1 DLC).

    +Neoxon I agree with you that Sakurai and the melee community will never see eye to eye on a new SMASH game due to their polarizing views. Besides, melee players are content playing their game for at least a couple more years. As for Pokken, I think it will not be supported long since Bandai Namco needs to get tekken out (plz). Meanwhile, SFV will still have a good lifespan considering the support from Capcom and the non-divisive fanbase. Plus, sales do not necessarily dictate the longevity of the game, i.e. the Brawl example in the video. It is entirely up to the community.

    I think fighting games have a bright future in the eSports entertainment scene, but for at home gamers looking for a casual experience they will probably fail to impress for the long haul. As such developers will see a decline in sales in the long run since pro eSports gamers do not make up the majority of paying customers. You forsake the many to please the few, and you'll find yourself losing out on the big business opportunities. It's bad marketing as not everyone is looking to go pro, or pay up to compete in prize inclusive tournaments.

    +Nathan Boulanger Personally I think arcades are the best for producing competent fighting game talents. The more competent players competing, the more skill a player will need to stand out from the crowd and become elite. Those skills transfer over from game to game. So Asia has more competent players and more elite players than other areas. So even though SFV isn't out in the arcades, the SF scene in Japan already has a huge amount of competent and elite players. Arcades are the best because money is on the line and it accumulates a large amount of people in an offline setting. Information sharing is at a high offline because it allows people to freely socialize and even if you don't want to share tech, it will be picked up because everyone can see your matches. These Asian players are then put into an online environment that is better than NA, SA, and Europe's online environment. Aside from that, Asia has a lot of group thinking and work pretty hard.

    +Nathan Boulanger Asian's in general seem better at video games than the rest, I'm a huge league player and it just seems like all the EU and Asian players are a league (huehue) above us. For fighting games in general arcades play a HUGE part in Japan's and Korea's dominance in the FGC, there mentality for these games also has an impact in their skill and dedication.

    Eze The Igwe that should be a better thing. More complexity doesn't necessarily mean better, and a less complex game can be better than a more complex one. I love smash, but have mostly avoided melee because I don't want put in the insane amount effort to become good at a nearly completely different game. Having a super complex game can turn people off. That's why in Ultimate, Sakurai is trying to appeal to both competitive and casual fans.

    Eze The Igwe : That’s because Smash Bros is supposed to be a party game. It was never meant to be competitive. So I don’t understand why there are people whining about smash having to be faster, more balanced, etc. Again, not meant to be competitive in the first place.

    The only way I can think how is to make what’d practically be an official project m. S4/Ultimate players would most likely migrate to it, and melee players would be likely to switch or at least play it
