do you have a video in drilling analysis of cfrp/al or cfrp/ti in ansys workbench.

Hi brother..your video is good !! i have a doubt in specifying the ply angle ..if our composite material is woven type of orientation (0,90) , how do we specify both the angles in a single ply?? if its uni directional lamina means we can specify the angle for each ply Eg: 1st ply 0, 2nd ply 45 , 3rd ply 0, 4th ply -45... as you said in the video..but while applying this for a woven lamina how to specify bidirectional angle (0/90) in the same ply..Eg: 1st ply 0/90 , 2nd ply 0/90, third ply 0/90.. in ANSYS ACP!! Are you getting my question clearly ..or else tell me i will elaborate this even clearly !!

please i WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY WE USE ACP(PRE-POST) ALTHOUGH WE CAN USAGE OF STATIC STRACTURAL?

  • @rajasekharbattu1369

actually we have to assign the layers of the composite material with different angles of fibre and also different fibre as well as resin material which we can't take directly by Static structural. Ansys ACP PRE gives the setup of laminates and POST gives the final results fetched from Static Structural as shown in the video above

How can i find Composite properties from Ansys ?

  • @rajasekharbattu1369

you can find them in engineering data after installing ansys-acp. when you double click on the material you want to know there you can see the properties... you can modify or add new composite material from there.....

Thanks for your great vedio. It was really helpful. I have one question tho. Why we use "ACP pre set up" to make plys even if we already made it on 'ACP pre model' with using "Layered Section" option. and I have one more question. what is the difference of result between 'result from static structural module' and 'result from ACP post' ? Does result from ACP post is more accurate??

ACP will provide ply wise detailed understanding of analysis but with only static structural we will get only over all or averaged data. I think that is the reason why ansys introduced ACP. The combination of static structural or any other analysis with ACP will give more accurate and detailed results. Thank you

@@rajasekharbattu1369 Then you mean the plys which are made from 'ACP set up" is more accurate than the plys which are made from 'ACP model' ?? I mean, you already made bunch of plys on 'model' stage, using 'layered section option' but why did you made that plys again at 'set up' stage??

If you don't mind read more about the composites (cfrp/gfrp) about the orientation. For most of the analysis single ply analysis which embedded in between other plys are needed to understand the delamination of the composites. That is called detailed ply wise analysis. The results shown by post processing in ACP are detailed ply wise results to understand and use them for other structural or thermal analysis.

@@rajasekharbattu1369 Thanks sir. So you mean, making plys(layers) at ACP 'set up' stage is more accurate cuz it could give detailed ply wise analysis. Then, don't I need to make layers at 'model' stage, if I'm gonna make them at 'set up' stage ?? or do I?? Thanks for your kind reply tho

Yes, we can do the same thing in the mechanical Apdl as well. The first is to upload the geometry of the shell model to the mechanical Apdl in the file format File.igs. After uploading if you want to change the element type it is in the element type option. we can use the material properties to assign the CF/GF (orthotropic material options). In the section option, we can assign the fiber direction, angle, thickness, number of layers, lay-up, etc. we can use different lay-up for different sections of the part. Try to watch other videos of youtube for composite mechanical Apdl. In fact, Workbench is just an interface it solves the problem in mechanical Apdl only and saves the solution file the same as Mechanical APDL.
