Isn't a belief statement, or theme statement, not suposed to be a cliche? Otherwise, an interesting analysis.

I would argue that cliche's are completely subjective; whether or not an observer believes a theme has been used too much--to the point where the idea has been tired out--is completely up to his or her own perspective. I teach high school kids, so I tried to create a thematic statement from this poem that they could best understand/connect with.
