Palpatine’s lies and manipulation of Anakin revolved around getting Anakin to believe that Obi wan never cared about or wanted around Anakin as had a lot emotional insecurity about his relationship with Obi wan due too how Obi wan inherited him from Qui gon rather than choosing to take him on. But Anakin always failed understand was no one even Qui gon could get obi wan too do something he didn’t want too do and when obi wan made the mistake of agreeing to fake his death . That was all Palpatine needed to convince Anakin that He couldn’t trust Obi wan anymore and that Obi wan would turned him into the council if he knew about Padme and Anakin .

I’m not excusing Anakin’s crimes either way, but Obi-Wan Kenobi was generally a pretty terrible friend in his desperation to fit in with the Jedi Order and get on the Council. He emotionally dismissed Anakin all throughout Attack of the Clones whenever Anakin tried to bond with him and reach out for emotional support. Not to mention the fact that he was exceedingly critical of him. In The Clone Wars, you see Obi-Wan and Anakin more on an equal footing after he’s been knighted since they no longer have a mentor/student relationship, but Obi-Wan is still quite often exceedingly critical of Anakin. The worst betrayal happens when Obi-Wan fakes his death and disguises himself as Rakko Hardeen to please the Council for a mission that they want to keep Anakin and his troops out of the loop for because they think they’re “too untrustworthy.” Not only is that a war crime and bad military morale, but Obi-Wan knows how traumatizing it is to see a parental figure die from personal experience. He knows that Anakin saw his mother die not too long ago. After Anakin finds out the truth and gets reasonably pissed enough to call him out, Obi-Wan doesn’t even apologize to him for betraying his trust. He’s just like “I know what I did was questionable, but I did what I had to do.” He didn’t do what he had to do. Obi-Wan knows what he did was wrong. He knows he should have done better, regardless of the circumstances. He was too cowardly to take the risk of disappointing the Council by standing up for Anakin as a friend, so he deliberately betrayed his trust instead because it was easier. In Revenge of the Sith, he praises Anakin, but only after presumptuously accusing him of using his friendship with the Chancellor to get a seat on the Council. Not only was that not true, but Obi-Wan wasn’t in the room when they were talking, so his accusation of Anakin comes across as unfair. He had no basis for it. Moreover, even if it had been true, Obi-Wan and the Council let him speak alone to Palpatine when he was a child under their care for their own benefit, so if Anakin has a connection to him at all, it’s because they allowed it in the first place. Obi-Wan knows it feels like a bad idea to request for Anakin to be a mole for the Council to spy on the Chancellor because of their connection and Anakin’s growing emotional instability in Revenge of the Sith. However, he still carries out the Council’s message for Anakin to take the assignment because he is too much of a coward to plant his foot down and say no. You can make a valid point that Anakin needed stopping and ultimate punishment for his crimes on Mustafar. Obi-Wan went about it in an exceedingly cruel, deceitful, and manipulative manner, though. He never even asks Anakin why he went dark in the first place. I’m not denying that Anakin was far from innocent, nor do I think Obi-Wan was malicious in his intentions. However, he also was quite arrogant, cowardly, emotionally manipulative, self-centered, and willfully in-denial towards harsh realities. Obi-Wan grew to genuinely care about Anakin. He was just really bad it because he was too much of an ass-kisser for Yoda and the Council.

And the reason I don't get it is because Obi-Wan himself did not care to ask WHY Anakin went dark in the first place. All we get is oh, he went dark, and dark is bad, poor me, let me get a Space Divorce. You're right about him being cruel and deceitful... awful. Their friendship and brotherhood should have come first, not the Order. I hope they can both be healed. ❤

I love the symbolism of the mask being torn open... but then once again he turns and walks away. WHY. It doesn't make any sense to me. I would have fallen down sobbing and hugged my brother's feet, asking him to let me heal his pain. When Anakin says he is not Obi-Wan's failure, I don't think he means he's off the hook - Anakin just doesn't want another self-centered tirade from Obi-Wan, who really REALLY fails to get what he did wrong. He put the Council above their brotherhood. So once again, Obi-Wan doesn't ask, okay then, if I didn't fail in your training, WHY did you choose the dark? What is hidden, that must be revealed? All this drama about one aspect of the Self "killing" another aspect is really childish in the way they make it into a literal murder - poor Luke was right to be confused. "IN A MANNER OF SPEAKING?!" 😂

I've seen some SW fans commenting about this Anakin/Obi-Wan dynamic, but I never thought I'd see a video given the overall opposition to perceived wokeness. Kudos to you for being bold. Personally, I think Obi-Wan during ROTS was a bit too standoffish ("no attachments") and at times critical for Anakin to realistically want as a romantic partner, but I could buy Anakin/Vader liking older, more empathetic, more open to emotional attachments Obi-Wan in that way.

Too bad we only get Space Divorce: Part 2 - Are Your Kids Still Mine Then? Heartwrenching. Because you just know there is no healing they can find except with each other, by really digging into "what the hell happened" and "why can't we move past the silly drama" ("my friend is dead" - dude he's standing right there bleeding his guts out, quit your self-importance... sigh...).

AH NORMALLY I HAVE TO WRITE THIS! I watch this edit all the time! I recently watched the prequels (I'm watching very strange because first I watched the sequels and then the prequels and I didn't watch the original...) And this edit gives me such a vibe! Damn, I don't want to watch the original parts because it's not the same anymore and it was fucking sad for me to know this story! Anakin and Obi Wan are the best duo! I don't like that some make them a romantic couple because they are perfect just as friends, student and master. the scene "you were my brother Anakin! I loved you..." literally had me tearing up!! i love this scene, it's literally so emotional! They really loved each others.... 💔 I CANT! Great edit! 🖤

Um, darling... the brother or master/student relationship IS the classical definition of romance, starting with the Iliad, the Epic of Gilgamesh, those ancient things. And whenever the "brothers" are this close but reject romance, they die! So that they/the readers know how deep their bond really was. That's the message.

It really doesn't make any sense to me either. Other than well, there is the original trilogy to fit into - or as it's put, "the future will take care of itself" 😂 ❤ I do love the show however, because of how Cosmic they made everything. These two are basically Soul Mates who got Space-divorced. And the question is if the kids are still the other one's kids as well. 😢 Leia-hugs to Obes. Btw I don't think Mr. Darth kills Obes in the original - it's obvious that he achieves spontaneous Ascension (Force-something...) right before.
