I love flying overnight from North America to Asia. I've flown the Los Angeles to Beijing/Shanghai route numerous times, and the overnight flights are always the best. Board, sit, eat, and fall straight asleep. Wake up, walk around, eat, and get ready to land. I can sleep on a plane, so I'm always well-rested when arriving in the morning.

Awesome report, can not wait to have the opportunity to fly ANA. Thank you for sharing.

thanks for mentioning the no air vents thing. i recently flew on JAL for the first time and the flight was very stuffy! everything else about the flight was great... but just wished there were air vents!

What was the overall comfort? Leg room, seat recline?

I have flown ANA more than 20 times in the last 10 years. It is my favorite Airline. None of that crowded, squeezing, pushing, shoving, poor service like the American carriers. No nickel-and-diming either about baggage and seat assignments. ANA is the most respectful Airline I have ever flown in 47 years of flying the world.

Great video. Does anyone know if the bulk head seats right after premium economy have fixed armrests or are the middle of the 4 seats adjustable?

It depends a lot on the airline - with ANA, I've never encountered a dirty plane on the inside.

Is there a light that flashes in the cockpit so the pilot knows when to do his announcement?

You got there @ Haneda about 12:50 or so in the AM. After customs and baggage claim, what about transportation? The JR does not run after 1 AM until 5:30 or so. Did you have to wait until then or did you take a taxi (very expensive), or a shuttle bus? Just wondering, cause if that's the case, I'll take a flight on ANA to where it will arrive in the afternoon or early PM.

I actually got in Haneda at 5:40am JST. All flights that depart the West Coast USA during ~midnight get into East Asia in the early morning. Transportation should be available, then.

Ana is the best Japanese airlines and the food I love the flight to Tokyo haneda airport

Food looked nice. Never flown ANA, but would give them a try having seen this.

A few questions. What would be a good time to arrive before they open check in counter at 9pm? And I've never flown on a over night flight, do they not offer dinner service on a flight like that? I'm taking a trip to Tokyo in September and was wondering what time to arrive at LAX.

+Jacob Perez LAX International Terminal doesn't have any food options in pre-security, so I'd advise giving yourself enough time to eat outside LAX - probably around an hour before check-in time.

it does not look very modern inside the aircraft, also there weren't any mood lights. But overall good video, ty

I was shocked this flight only served a midnight cold snack after takeoff from LAX. Passengers are starving after stressing themselves onto a flight only to get a cold sandwich and banana?? Having flown on Taiwan's China Airlines and EVA Air, they give you two hot meals between takeoff and landing into Taipei. Very surprised by ANA's cutback.

I did this same flight just a couple of weeks ago. We had 2 hot meals and were served 2 snacks. Also the flight crew came around asking if anyone wanted anything else to eat. So I think that what you saw was a one time ocurance or that ANA was unable to get the food that they ordered at LAX. With that said I know that ANA does like Lufthansa does and that is to carry certain items for return flight from their city of origin because you cannot get things in the USA that you are able to obtain overseas (like good Japanese food). I think you were a victim of bad luck.

Andy Tsai Actually if you freeze the frame at 4:32, you will see it's an Air China aircraft. Their tail logo is bright red whereas China Airlines has a pinkish logo.

i read on the web that ana has super small seat. even as low as 16inch/40cm wide. is that true? because if that is the case i will never fly with that airliner.

There are actually some planes in ANA that have 17inch/43cm-wide economy class seats, but not 16inches. However, the seat on this video is about 18inch-wide with 10.6 inches IFE screen.

last year i traveld with klm. they cost a little more. but the food is good(enough) and sitting space is mate for the dutch (like me). for some compansies it pays to buy eco+ seat, it gives you about 5cm wider and 10cm longer seat. it sounds small but it feels a world apart.

LAX is no SIN but the new international terminal is nice, rest of the place is still a dump

Adam Cornejo there is wifi, you get a 20 or 30 minute trial but after that you have to pay like $20

That is China Air, a Taiwan airline. Not, Air China.

Thanks for the comment, but please pause around 4:33-4:34 and notice the blue cheatline across the fuselage -- which is the Air China livery and not China Airlines.
