I enjoyed this video format. It’s always fun to see folks’ shelves. I do organize my books in loose genres. I keep my unread books totally separate from read books.

So glad, I feel the same thing! I used to keep read/unread separate for the longest time but now the unread books are such a huge part of my collection 😅

I used to keep my books categorized too. It just made sense to my brain.

Same! I keep thinking of new categories I want to make but I think I’ll wait for another big reorganisation until the summer holidays 😂

It’s really been creeping up on me, how my buying/acquiring has changed over time!

Great video! I love seeing all the books. I tend to mix my read and unread books. I own so many that I haven't read and I am learning to part with books as I read them and if I don't feel I really want them anymore so I tend to have more books that I have not read on my shelves. I am so envious that you have all of your TBR books on StoryGraph. This year, I plan to use it. I signed up but like goodreads, I just never think to use it. I use an app on my phone to track all the books I own. I also started using a lovely free notion template to track some book info. It's very visual and I like more visual stuff. Have a lovely weekend my friend!

I have the same situation - more unread books, it doesn’t really make sense to keep them separate at this point. There’s definitely something about seeing it all visually - that’s the one thing I don’t love about storygraph (it’s more like lists). But it’s helpful to have it all catalogued somewhere! Especially digitally so it’s searchable.

I have to organise fiction alphabetically by author. Anything else makes me anxious. Although I also have a shelf and pile of books waiting to be read soonish. Exciting options for People April. Nature memoirs are a subgenre I love so Belonging looks good. Anything on Woolf has to be a win too. I have never read anything by Ditlevsen and now I feel I should.

I totally get it! I like the idea but find it impractical (for finding things but also because my shelves are not the same height so I end up organizing by size often). Nature memoirs are definitely some of my favorites too. I am really looking forward to People April starting! 🌸

I haven't yet (only read a little bit of the beginning) but that's one I would love to get to this year as I'm trying to prioritize Swedish books. Good to hear you enjoyed it!

That looks like an exciting People April TBR! My book shelves are in broader categories than yours, not in alphabetical order. Poetry; crafting; cookbooks; tiny books; favourites (fiction and NF mixed); and two shelves of not-yet-read (fiction and NF mixed).

I’m so excited to get started, I might just start a little bit early! Ah cookbooks - I forgot all about them but I have them stored in the kitchen.

@@CuriousReader I have two bookshelves in my bedroom and two in the kitchen. All of the reference books (cookbooks, crafting, bird and plant guidebooks) are in the kitchen. Poetry and tiny books have shelves there too. In my bedroom, the shelves are used for photo albums and boxes of craft supplies as well as books. Oh, and a shelf of my handwritten journals, commonplace books and sketchbooks too. I have to roll my bed out of the way to get at the lower shelves. Speaking of storage, I also have craft supplies stored under my bed.
