An Unnerving Wild Camp | Strange Skies and Scary Eyes !
A rather unnerving and scary night on the wild camp. After the biggest pinkest moon rise I have ever seen, I woke an hour before my (very) early alarm call. Looking outside and I was treated to something I have never seen before- an amazing sight! However things got a little strange and scary after this as I started noticing voices then eyes and barks ! I was a little unnerved until the dawn arrived proper
" boom boom " - this famous quote may explain some of the strange occurrences in the video ;)

Fox warning call. They’re telling each other about the big human on their hill. How very dare he 😂
Fox for sure. Late 2nd litter, I should think with the 2 cubs and the mother calling them
A timmerous wee beastie.
Looks like noctilucent cloluds, Murray. They're ice crystals in the mesosphere over 80km up and probably form on meteoric dust. Rare and very cool!
Roe deer make exactly that barking sound
Barking Roe deer 100%, you don't hear them bark often and I've only ever heard them bark in Scotland despite working and sleeping in woodlands with large Roe deer populations down here in Yorkshire for years. People are saying it's a fox but a fox bark is just slightly more shrill than a dog bark, quite different to what you are hearing. Great video as always mate 👍
Sounds like foxes to me. We hear that noise when we're out camping. Great vid Murray, amazing moon rise 👍

I agree those were horny foxes on the prowl and I was born in the country so it was 100% a fox.

Thanks Dawn - I think you maybe right - no idea why I though wild cats because they miaow and don’t bark 😂 lots of suggestions here but the size and movement and bark make me think foxes 🦊 or maybe alien haggis 😂👍👍

The Hills have eyes.... And ghostly noises. 👀👻
It’s roe deer , they are barking out a warning as they see you. Even more creepy when heard in a forest

Just listened to the barking roe deer. Defo has to be that in hindsight lol.
Roe deer barking
Deer. Foxes don't hang around together in that way. Quite spooky though.
If i’m not mistaken, it sounds like it could be the yellow trouser appreciation society. I’m almost certain of it!😀

Fox and fox cubs, hear it very often in my local woods and countryside
Definitely foxes, have them in the field at the back of me, they often wake me during the night.
Defo fox. Hear them all the time in my garden at night in Glasgow.
Sounds like roe deer. Awesome video, those clouds!
definitely sounds like a fox to me!!
I went back to KZread and listened to foxes call or cries and that every bit sounded like fox cubs crying or barking for the parent. It sounded distressed or was a warning. But every bit a Fox. The Roe deer is higher pitch

Thanks - yeah think they were foxes 🦊 I didn’t even think of these at the time as haven’t really come across them in the hills - the other suggestion was badgers 🦡
Definitely aliens Murray .They love the Lawers Range . 😁
wow wow wow amazingly graceful
i would say foxes, likely with cubs around getting more adventurous by then too
Pink pink pink pink pink...pink moon! (Nick Drake) Beautiful shot!
Lovely
Female red deer can bark when they sense a potential danger and they have fawns en-tow. Had one watch, follow and bark at me from the upper slope as I skirted underneath them.
fantastic i must go there and explore one day soon.
Another vote for Roe Deer, nice trip and thanks for video
Foxes.... Heading back to their burrows before the sun up. .pure nocturnal. Foxes go patroling around about 8/9 pm till 5 am .... Ugh early rising 😔 I prefer night time ..I love dusk. Beautiful pictures n scenery. Think solo camping is creepy and sets the imagination running wild. Personally I wouldn't be camping alone.. I'd last 10 seconds to creepy. Different in company- lots of fun 🎉
Twas the bogey man lol
Thank you Murray a lovely video. Definitely young male foxxies. If it had been a vixen you probably really would have thought you were about to be probed and shipped off the planet 🤣 you'll know when you hear a lass.
I love the sound of the water pouring into your Jetboil can in your videos.
Whille you were putting the tent up, there was something to the left of you on the mountain opposite. It moved 😊❤
Definitely foxes Murray 👍👏 super video as usual 👌
Great video as always.
Scotland has or at least had a shoot to kill policy for Muntjac. I'll stick my neck out and say foxes. Great video as always, Murray 👍
This is absolutely one of the most peaceful, relaxing, and soothing videos I have seen. Your creativity and spirit is so moving and touching for many of us. I find such inspiration in this because for a few years already I have struggled with my mental health and really slowly I am getting back to things that I used to be able to do with ease. You inspire me a lot and I want to thank you for it. Sending love and wishing you the best on your journey :)

Maybe you encountered a pack of the extremely rare, though not voracious, wild wooly sockbats! You never know for sure....
Northern lights!
that what you hear barking it's definitely a deer! awesome vlog again, love the Scottish Highlands!
That’s the call of a vixen, we get it all the time on the farm. Great video Murray 👍
It's roe deer to me. I live in Livingston west Lothian and I hear them alot. And Foxes too, what surprises me is that you Murray, who are in the wild all the time have never heard the noise before. Where I Living in a new town in central Scotland hear them a lot . Strange. Nice Noctilucent clouds .
Another stunning camp Murray , deffo Roe deer had them on my last camp barking away . Atb Dave
Besides a fox it sounds like a badger. I have met one near the top of Sgiath Chuil so they do go up high.

Definitely sounds like Foxes, I live very close to the woods and hear that sound all the time, it's even worse when they start screaming.
Nah then, ey up me duck. Another wonderful camp in stunning surroundings. The noises I have to agree with others on, almost 100% sure it was foxes.
Foxes calls. Great video.
I was up in the Mournes last year shooting the Milky Way over a reservoir in the pitch black with my head torch off about 3am when I felt a presence next to me. I switched the torch on and shit myself as a fox was standing right next to me, having snuck up like a bloody ninja. When I packed up and headed out I kept seeing its eye shine as it stalked me all the way down the track like I was its prey!! A wee bit unnerving too 😆
Definitely a fox. I used to live in a town with 1000s of urban foxes so i know every noise they make. 😂
The noctilucence isn't actually clouds, they're ice crystals in the upper mesosphere. Can only be seen from late May until around September. This year hasn't been the best for them. I can see them in suburbia outside Glasgow with full light pollution. They are spectacular to see. If you can see North from your house, always look that way during the summer months after the sun has went down. Lovely shots of them.

Murray. King of the munroes. Its still my ambition to make a video with you. Love watching your vids in my bed at night, love the solo videos. I find it easier filming solo but I have a huge appreciation for company when I go out.

Defo fox. You're in between two so they'll be calling to each other. It's that sound that gave inspiration to banshees in Ireland. Particularly my gran who would wake my grandad up in fear to go outside with the gun and spoke the banshees away during the night
if I was a betting man and had a spare £50 to lose at ladbrokes my money would be on foxes. it's a very odd squeal type sound a fox makes. A dog is usually deeper, and a cat - usually doesn't make a lot of noise as they prefer to be undetected and when they do - more of a miaow. There's a whole bunch of urban foxes round my way in East end of Glasgow and they make that same noise. They can go around at dawn and dusk in pairs usually as they mate for life (unless knocked down) and in the first year of having their new cubs - they tend to tag along with the adults to learn how to scavenge before going their own way. hence why you might have seen 3 or more. if they smelled food on the go from earlier - they will come round and be quite curious.
The Aliens were after your yellow trousers 😂

Oh for fox sake ...... I'd be off at the first sight of those eyes 👀 you are a brave man! Brilliant hike/camp as always 😁
Definitely a family of foxes👍
Roe Deer possibly Munjac but do you get them in Scotland? What is possibly unusual is I've only seen and heard them in or near woodland. Stunning night sky and moon.
loving the «canary» yellow look, Murray! 😂
Brilliant as always Murray! Sounds like Muntjac, had one outside my house a few nights back that I observed from my bedroom window, they have an unbelievable bark in the dead of night.
Yellow tent ridge and lines, yellow sleeping bag interior, and the outfit, I think maybe you like yellow. Me too, take a ribbing for my yellow motorcycle 🤣
As soon as you appeared on camera I said to my wife "the yellow trousers are back". Great video Murray, we reckon it was foxes that were barking. Heading up next month, a couple of camps in The Cairngorms, can't wait.
Great as usual mate Vixen fox 👍 Wondering why you were on her hill ATB … Tony
Great out again
😍😍😍😍 great share Murray..I enjoyed it...sure is beautiful..an brilliant night to I think! 🤣😂 keep ya on ur toes..

That's foxes you're hearing. We had a lot of them where I grew up so I know the sound well.
100% it was this - 100% it was that?! - the main thing that mystified us was........... the never said WHERE you were Murray! Is it top secret or summat?! Another great vid for sure ✔
Foxes for sure. A very eerie bark at night 😁
Defo foxes. Great vlog by the way

Definitely wild haggis Murray, breakfast calling.
If that noise was foxes then we finally know what the fox says!
Just watching your adventure. The sky looked amazing. That noise was most certainly a fox. Hope you wasn't 2 spooked. :-) Nice 1
🎼I see a bad moon moon rising, I see trouble on the way! 🎼🐺🐺🏴⛰🥾
Had the same experience in Assynt. Guttural barking on a ridge above me. Miles from civilisation. Either wild dogs, or barking deer. No threat, but I did hide the food just in case.
Oh my, Murray! You give your viewers such awesome fodder to work with! The yellow (banana) trousers and lime green sleeveless top as a combination were... well... left me speechless to be honest. I think I speak on behalf of all viewers in asking you to get your dear wife to do a wardrobe check before you leave the house in future. Please? Pretty please?? To cap it all of we discovered you've also got arms! Never seen THOSE before! Yellow trousers, lime green top and snow white arms... I had to put my sunglasses on! Thank you though for having the camera zoomed OUT! Another great adventure and a wonderful reminder not to take ourselves too seriously. Take care my friend!
