Maybe it’s a bad way to think as a proud American, but I almost want to get battered by Brazil. We are already under pressure and scrutiny and people want change… If we pull off this upset, our federation will just use it as leverage to keep Greg Berhalter. I’m perfectly OK with getting grouped at the Copa America and getting battered in a remaining friendly if it means we can have a good coach to actually try to make a run at the World Cup.

@@nerychristian I enjoyed watching team USA games last March and last June when we didn’t have him… Lol. That’s why I’m saying I’m perfectly OK if we lose every single game. If we win any game and especially if we make it out of the groups, we are not getting rid of this guy until after we get embarrassed at a home World Cup. I don’t want to lose cause I’m very proud of my country and I want the rest of the world to see us positively… But I understand the greater good of losing now and the benefits long-term.

Honestly, the main thing I'm curious about going into this game is the tactical approach. Will we adjust to be an organized and compact defense with quick and direct attacking when we have the ball, or will we try the same strategy that clearly failed against Colombia? If I had to bet, I'd say we stick with the same approach which will demonstrate that GGG has learned nothing and believes the players just didn't execute his plan well enough (not that it was a failed plan). Assuming I'm correct that GGG keeps his preferred gamplan (e.g. only tactical plan), I see this game as being 4-1, optimistically. That would only be if Brazil is not interested in exerting themselves too much. If we adjust to the different tactics which we should have also brought to the Colombia game, then I see this as possibly being 3-1 or closer, again depending on how motivated Brazil is. The closest comparison I can think of during GGG's tenure for this alternative tactical approach is how we organized the team for the WC game versus England. I think Brazil would adjust better in-game versus what Southgate directed in our game versus England, which is why I still think we lose by a couple of goals, but it's really the only sound approach going into a game against a far superior team. You'll still lose those games more than you win them, but you give yourself a chance to steal a tie or on a very fortuitous day to perhaps pull off a major upset.
