What is everyone's favorite mount in Guild Wars 2?

The skyscale is for sure the most handy in every situation, but I just cannot love enough the jackal, don't know why!

@@MusPuiDiTe While the Jackal is not a mount I often use, I also have a great deal of love for it. I'm not 100% sure why either. It just feels really good to ride and it's abilities are also relatively well rounded. The Jackal is the mount that I use in my vista guides because it is a nice steady speedboost that allows me to run to vistas in their 2012 intended ways, but just at a faster speed.

Lol i Play WoW and was finally gonna check out the gw2 mounts. The ground mounts are all cool especially that jackal and underwater mount, but I chuckled that the gryphon is exactly how dragonriding is like blizzard did a 1:1 copy LOL

Very well presented! Griffon was such a amazing suprise upon completing Path Of Fire! I'm to this day in awe seeing what people can do with Griffon when they master it to full potential.

The griffon is incredible. I absolutely loved the fact that it was a secret on release. It is really cool that they showed it in the promotional art for the mounts before the launch of Path of Fire, where they had all 4 mounts in the foreground but you could see the griffon flying far in the background. Nobody realized it was a griffon and people noticed it in the art after release. I think I was within the first 500? to unlock the griffon mount. I remember unlocking the griffon and playing around with it near Amnoon, where somebody noticed me and sent me a whisper freaking out over the fact that there was a secret mount and asked me questions about it. That interaction is one of my favorite moments in Guild Wars 2.

@@Athis If you had it by the early afternoon UK time on the Saturday (day after launch) you had it within the first 500. I got mine early Sunday morning after launch and was in the first 1000 along with 2 friends. We worked on it together and once we all had it, we went and sat on our griffons in the middle of the central square of Amnoon (where Pinata spawns). After the mad hours of running around/figuring things out for the collections, all the "OMG WHAT MOUNT IS THAT?!" and "THERE'S A FIFTH MOUNT?!" reactions we got were very gratifying. We got lots of requests for flying demonstrations off the top of the nearby walls as well. Good times! These days griffon is my fav mount for just chilling out and having fun on. I'm in one of the griffon guilds that does fancy stunt flying on griffons. It's waaaaaaaaaaaay too much fun to surprise players who are in caves by zipping by past their heads at high speed through the narrow tunnels xD

You flying in HOT with the griffin has got me excited for the new expansion and updraft use with mounts

Warclaw has one hidden feature: you can unlock it when you own the expansion, but without playing any story. So if you are the person who does not like to skip forward in the story (aka play through all the previous story first), or even get a mount before getting any single level 80, you can just join World vs World and gain him. It might take a bit, because you need to do reward track and playing a bit, but it is worthy if you don't want to do the story too early. Also playing World vs World will leave you with some stat-selectable armor boxes and other rewards, making the gearing a bit easier when you hit the lvl 80. Though, it might be a bit harder to survive there without proper gear at first, so try to stick to others in your team :)

Now every lv 10 gets a raptor.

Mounts really revamped the entire game and world. I think it’s the main reason guild wars 2 is still alive and well.

That and the combat and WvW. I remember when there wasn't any mounts and they said they never would add them as it would be pointless.

Nice explanation of the mounts, loved it! Good job!

Also a note about the Jackle: it’s movement ability is an evade by default. Upgrading the jackle allows you to evade with your other movement abilities.

oh wow, these mount designs are an amazing idea.

That was a very well-put-together overview of the gw2 mounts. I have all the mounts, and the only one I've not yet mastered (diving and pulling back up) is the griffon. I'm an absolute failure at those griffon adventures. I rarely get passed the 2nd target. I always face plant when I dive on my griffon.

what helped me with the griffon movement was realizing that their dive and dismount abilities were different. i used to think that you could only dive with their dismount ability and that caused me to faceplant everytime

​@@1DMapler18 ​I'. m aware that the dive and dismount are two different things; dive (C), dismount (1). Dismounting is easy. Diving and pulling back up are extremely hard for me. It's something I have a hard time doing even in aircraft and space flight games.

Don't forget, Beetle can also break thru certain barriers/walls and crystal formations for loot (usually volatile magic). Also an explanation to noobs/outsiders of skins would have been cool. I want new players to get hyped! For the same reason I would have specified that the Springer & Turtle attacks provide CC (clarifying "knockdown"). Other than that, this is a well put together production! Good on you sir!! 😊 (I hope my crit comes off as constructive, that is the intention, not to be a jerk (even though jerk is my default setting 😂)) * oh and for those who don't want to fight Every single mob, Jackal is great for skipping combat areas! 😉😅

Damn I'm playing wow classic and I wish mounts were more like these. If I could try the griffon out and get hooked id be so into this game.

You actually can during certain events. All the events are in the core game. The best event to try the sky scale and griffon is the four winds event. There's mount rentals that only cost 1 to 10 silver. Also there's a bunch of beetle rentals at race merchants in many core maps. :)

@@lunerlilly I think that unfortunately rental mounts don't have masteries unlocked so Griffon would be just a fancy glider. Also when I didn't have PoF and tried renting a griffon I couldn't even fly but that could have been my mistake

and... these can be used on any new, existing or future maps!, well.. with the exeption ofjumping puzzles and/or areas that would affect gameplay/mecanics like story intance/raids(can use but out of combat). the game was and is being developed using mounts

I like speed, so griffon for sky and roller beetle for land.

I'd consider the Skiff on this list as well - up to 5 people can ride, extra players can generate boost, and fishing party bonuses

What dyes do you have for your skyscale? Great vid!

Hey! Thank you :) For the normal skyscale, I was using Indigo dye. For the Stargaze skin for the skyscale, I believe I was using Indigo, Bloodstone Dark Indigo, Lapis, and Deep Lilac.

I remember when there was zero mounts and they said they'd never add them lol.

Great video content is when you can see every scene on the video match with it's narration in the backgroun. And this is it! mostly another video content just put some random scene from video teaser or etc and doesnt match the narration. that's how you can see the real effort

Good video. While I agree GW2 has the best mounts, they haven't ruined mounts for me from all other games. Flying mounts from other games that has no endurance limitations also has it's advantages (and many disadvantages too).

Whats your graphics settings at? It looks so much more matte and cleaner than mine even tho im at max settings

Hello! All of my settings are maxed except for LOD Distance, Character Model Limit, and Character Model Quality which are all high. I am not using GemFX, SweetFX, or any other graphical addon. My monitor's resolution is 2560x1440 with a 143 Hz refresh rate. I use OBS to record and I record using NVENC, with indistinguishable quality, and 5999 bitrate. I render my videos at 1920x1080, 60 fps, and 25,999,360 bitrate. I don't know much about adjusting recording and rendering settings, I am sure I am probably reducing the quality of the video to some degree.

This epic wonderful majestic classic medieval phantasy mmo rpg deserves more cool mounts than already has. I honestly believe that between The King 👑 WoW and Guild Wars. This game is a Brother of WoW not a child.. !!! It has more natural animations and more wonderful unique classic medieval phantasy and gigantic open world areas and global map to wander and explore around. Guild Wars Use the UE4 I see very wise and serious to Not Harm the world of WoW picture but to be like WoW But with better smoother "natural" animations and much more better details textures and modeling than its Brother!! If only they bring this on mobiles and more mythology special and epic mounts to be upon its real vast gigantic open world areas

Can we have it on mobile though?

I was wondering if someone, Anyone could tell at what level you have to be get a Flying Mount. Google seems to be hiding the answer from as are the very Un-talkative people in the game. In all my years i've never struggles this hard to get a simple answer. :(

Both flying mounts are from collections after you reach level 80. You can start getting the griffon after you complete the Path of Fire story and you can get the Skyscale from Living World Season 4, Episode 6. But they are adding a new and easier way to get the Skyscale in the upcoming expansion.

Quality>quantity. These mounts are all of extreme high quality that you wont see in other games. I think rather than adding more mounts, they could add more masteries to further upgrade them. With of course additional PoF mastery points along with it.

NO the Armaedron In Ark is better. I do love Gw2 though

Missing few keywords/examples here and there which kinda wrongly showcase mounts. In order : 1. Raptor - sure it can leaps and go faster on short distances but only if terrain is flat or goes down. If you're on a road up hill you can't just leap up and up fast. Use jackal instead. 2. Poor bunny becomes useless when you get skyscale. Its good at the starts of the fight because of CC. 3. On skimmer fall damage dont exist. You can fall from any height and you good. 4. Jackal - point earlier (1), you can go up hill and mount doesnt stuck when using teleports, i see so many ppl using raptors uphill it hurts my eyes. Without this detail, your presentation of jackal feels like its underwhelming to use. Teleport can also save from fall damage, just use it before hitting land. 5. HUGE missing keyword - griffon doesnt fly, it glides. People with your presentation can get wrong idea that they can fly however they want. Also, you can mount griffon while being mid air falling or gliding. 6. Although you do tricks on beetle you dont say it recovers you stamina faster, why dont say it when you already do it? 7. Skyscale - "you can travers map similar to griffon but at slower rate" - again, people can get wrong idea. Best comparison would be that griffon is more like jet/glider and skyscale is a helicopter and depending on situation/place on map, skyscale can get you waaaaay faster to your destination. Also, pls mention that clinging to the wall and boosting up is stamina based, cuz again, people can get wrong idea that you can do it over and over again. 8. Since i dont play that much WvW and rarely use warclaw im not gonna say anything. 9. With turtle here is rather opinion - fire rate is waaaaaaaay to low, after bursting 5 shots you wait soooo long to shoot once even while running at full speed and since fights are 99% stationary, running around is pointless. Game basically takes out 2 players which can do more if there are separate. One cool thing is that your friend will teleport with you when you use waypoint

A kind request from my side. Please use default mount skins while trying to demonstrate the feature to general public. When you make a video its for others to watch, new players come and see these mounts and they expect it to look like that and then get disappointed with base skins. Another thing is that by using skins in a demonstration video you are creating visual clutter which results into bad viewing experience. This is why videos showcasing legendary weapons while equipping all other shiny legendaries and shiny effects are called out because you are taking away from what you want to show. Please consider viewers pov. Edit: Also to make videos look better scale them to 2k resolution then upload so youtube will use higher bitrate for your videos and hence less lossy compression.

Thanks for your feedback! I did use the default skin for each mount throughout the video, but did integrate showcases of the cheaper mount skins throughout the rest of each section to show the diversity of mount skins that exist in the game. I wanted to give both experiences of showing what people get when they first log on and what they can unlock through some grinding/spending. The only mount skin that I showed that is a little bit of visual clutter is the one Skyscale skin, though it's not necessarily too bad by itself but it definitely gets worse when the MMO aspects of the game come into play. And I would say that's true with every aspect of the game. For most folks, it's decent in small doses but does get very busy when multiple people are around. Though, there are those people that enjoy the business. Which is fair for them, but it would be nice if the game had better options for people who don't enjoy as much stuff on their screens. I have been meaning to improve the graphical quality of my videos. But I've never had someone mention that my videos are low quality, so I appreciate your opinion!

@@Athis the videos are not bad quality. Its just that i can see that they are recorded in very high quality but there is an insane amount of lossy compression by youtube on 1080p. So i suggested either record in 2k or upscale to 2k before uploading.

Why do people rush to make these unfinished videos? No mention of turning speeds differing from mount to mount. No mention of dye channels for the mounts so you're not stuck with 3 colors. No mention of the jackals quick turning speed when teleporting...

Hi. Just to clarify. 1. I talked about how mounts are different, such as how the turning speeds are different. 2. I'm not entirely sure what you are talking about with the dye channels. Default mounts have 1 channel and various mount skins having more (4?) channels. I showed it off in the video but did not directly mention that. 3. I also showcased the Jackal's quick turning speed, but again, did not directly mention it in the video. I'm sorry you did not enjoy the video. I hope you have a nice day :)
