Very fun, next door neighbor when I was growing up inherited one like that. He was 14 I was 16. They had the engine rebuilt and when done he ask me to take him for a ride, so I was the first to drive it. Poor kid had to wait 2 years before he was able to but when he did he had the nicest car in high school.

Thanks for doing the triple Jag open box Bryan. Interesting differences between them all. According to Scalemates, the Heller kit is a rebox from 2015. But the rest of the kits shown are coupes and that one is the cabriolet (?). You made me curious so I had to go looking. Some years ago I built the Monogram 1/25 XKE coupe. It was a really nice kit, though it did not have all the chrome the new Revell kit has. It required painting the chrome. While I was poking at the webbing, I found Revell actually had a 1/8 scale coupe. Yes, I did say 1/8. Not a typo by my fat finders. I shudder to think of the shelf space needed for that build.

I have two of the original 1963 models. The moldings are much cleaner. The problem was the tires which melted into the plastic. A minor design flaw. The chrome isn’t great either. Aftermarket tires and wheels are required and some creative construction methods due to the split body. Fun. I am going to add the new coupe. A much nicer kit. Thanks for the review.

It isn’t actually. I looked it up on scalemates. It’s a heller original from 1978. Heller, Italeri, Esci and Revell are known to swap molds (in the past anyway) If it was a revell mold it would have been exactly the same as the revell xk-e, but the scale doesn’t match
