In the south, sausage with rice is called Boudin. Excellent eating! Left handed baitcaster, the most natural rod ever made. Easy to cast, reeling is easy and there's no switching hands!

The crappie are good up near where you came out of the reeds. They're caught mostly on 1/32 or 1/16th jig heads under a bobber. Though I have seen them take crappie spinner at slow troll. Bigger bass are good after spawn or when the temperature is in the low 80's. Perch are on the bottom and takes a slightly heavier crappie jig bounced just off the bottom.

I reel the same way. Spinning gear left hand retrieve, casting right hand retrieve. My reasoning is way back when, bait casters were only available with right hand retrieve in the stores. I didn't want to order and wait lol. So just got used to it.

For the record, when bass are in spawn season, you want to target the reaction strikes. So picking up the pace and/or using more aggressive movements where beds tend to be is how you hook the spawning bass. That and of course matching the egg and fry eaters is also a great aid to getting them to bite reactively. They're not biting to eat, they're biting to defend, so basically flash chases and quick nip like strikes. This lake is so gorgeous man. I'd adore that kind of adventure in such a place, solo or with good company. Especially that camping spot. Me thinks the bass in the lake are stunted, too. Definitely too many bass in there but didn't have enough forage for them to really grow. Probably need to start having people harvest those dinks. Fry em whole, use them for fertilizer and/or even pet food, or crawfish or crab bait, too, why not.

Have you had any issues with parasites attached to the skin on trout? I fished in northern cali this weekend and every trout had them. I heard Oregon is having the same problem. Some say it’s due to warmer water temp. Just curious if you’ve seen anything like that up where you’re at.
