it is the night before my exam and I am googling away looking up info videos on the multitude of theories I have to have memorized. I can now say I have a good understanding of TRA. great job presenting the info and giving relevant examples

You made my day!! This helped me so much. I hope one day teachers like us are more socially valued so we can get mansions. So, I am using this theory for a research about social inclusion in Mexico, so, very very helpful! Thanks!!

Audra, This is my 1st year in the Ph.D program. Your discussion of TRA is a definitely a TRA for Dummies! I've read so much material regarding the subject matter; however none really explained it as smooth as you did. Kudos and Thank you so much!

Hi Stormy. I'm glad it could help. And don't worry....once you survive the first year of the PhD, it gets easier. In my first year, one of my cohort and I would look around the corner at each other, periodically ask if the other knew what was going on. The answer was always no. ;)

Hi Audra, thank you for this video, but I wanted to address one point that you made. The first limitation that you brought up would not actually be a limitation if the outcome was to lose weight right? In that case one of the the behaviors would be to eat better? OR did I get this wrong?

Interesting question, but no to be 100% fair I have not. My primary research tends to focus on crisis and risk communication, so religion-oriented research is often outside my scope of interest. But intellectually, that's an intriguing thought.

but, wait...I have a doubt. How does this theory differ from the Theory of planned behavior?

TPB adds in control beliefs :) TPB was an extension of TRA that took into account the degree to which people believed that they could control their own situation also affected their behavioral intentions (e.g., if I don't think I can control the situation, I'm not going to bother).

Good explanation. Thanks. But on a side note: Africa is not country! Of course you can say :"....in some places radio is...." but please specify the country. There are over 52 countries on that continent ;)

She referred to how in the past in her home country radio was important and then stated that in some places in Africa it is still an important medium.
