Same here. I am Hindu though I have been agnostic before. but chanting the matra while doing mundane tasks, driving and cooking have made me feel a certain calmness nothing other than silent meditation has. One has to chant the mahamantra to experience this. No one can explain the transformative power it has.

There is reason to think Prabhupada was poisoned. If its true...and there is audio indicating that it is....does that mean Prabhupada wasnt a true believer?

The Vedas Themselves say that They are not manufactured at any point in time - that They are produced from the mouth of Lord Narayana as He breathes. He is unborn and breathes eternally, therefore the Vedas are called "unborn" and eternal. So 'ancient' is not really correct or even an approximation, for 'timeless' is more appropriate and accurate. This hints at the inconceivable respect one should offer Vedic knowledge.

As stated in the Vedas, asya mahato bhutasya nisvasitam etad yad rg-vedah iti: the injunctions of dharma emanate from the breathing of Narayana, the supreme living entity. Narayana exists eternally and breathes eternally, and therefore dharma, the injunctions of Narayana, also exist eternally".

To chanting Maha Mantra 108 times in one sitting you need to order life in such way as to make this possibility. But if you can achieve this, how wonderful it is to devote time to Krsna in this way. There is no other requirement made of you than to delight in japa mala & Krsna. It is delight also to Krsna in this way. 💮Hare Krsna 💮

Are these books Srila Prabhupada's original writings? Or are they the butchered versions of the new and improved versions by the well intended so-called ISKCON intellectual elite? If this is what is being distributed then we can not expect a good result. First of all ISKCON as described by S.P. in his introduction to the Bhagavad Gita clearly states that Lord Brahma is the originator of ISKCON. This science of self realization is being passed down through the ages by the bonafide parampara system of realized souls. They maybe in modern day ISKCON or NOT. Very important distinction. Real ISKCON is not an institution of corporate minded individuals seeking money and members. It is an actual bhagavat parampara system which takes its guidance from realized souls and not corporate heads of state. The path of bhakti is a crooked path. It is not easily identified by outward appearance. We neophytes look for external confirmation of spiritual matters but it will not come in that way. It can only come from the heart of the self realized soul who must see you and decide what is the best instructions for you according to time, place and circumstance.. This person is very rare. Reciting slokas, engaging in vaidhi bhakti, is only the beginning. The realized soul must enter your heart in order to reveal the secrets contained in the Vedas. You can not just read and advance. You have to ask yourself "what is the highest conception of Krishna Consciousness"?

In that nothing is separate from the the divine then everything is God or Krishna! The soul being eternal in that Krishna is eternal then the self is none different one and the same. Jesus Christ said that he was one in god and that we are all one too (john 17) Those who realise there is no separation have spiritual knowledge those who don't are just unaware of who they really are. In that god is all then all duality is god too, thus knowledge and ignorance are as night and day. The proof that we are divine is simply understood and that is the fact we are conscious. Consciousness is divinity as divinity is consciousness. Krishna Consciousness is the mythic, symbolic representation of this. Consciousness is beautiful, mysterious as well as a mystery that is not understood or definable scientifically. Even to us conscious entitles we do not perceive it other than experience it life. Life the living is the very god which is manifest in millions and millions of living beings. Thus when we see god sees, when we hear god hears, when we suffer god suffers and when we joy god joys. Thus the all is the universal form which is primordial, all attractive as well as disturbing. As every cell in my body is a particle of the whole body then similarly every conscious being is a particle of God or Krishna or Vishnu etc. So mythically we can by symbolism represent this mystery in the form of the icon of Krishna or any religious symbolism.

As a Hindu one can stick to the Bible and still experience eastern spirituality. The power of spirituality in the east is their focus on the supreme consciousness and the soul. One can see this through history. India, Japan, China and eastern Asian have never fought religious wars with each other, despite being martial cultures . Very differnt from the militancy seen in the Abrahamic faiths- of which Christianity and Islam are 2 sides of the same coin.
