Dr. Gladys DeVane is a professor Emerita-Indiana University who after 38 years of teaching retired in 2003. She has since returned to her first love --- theater.
In this interview she discusses her childhood, love of the theater, being the first in her family to go to college and also get both a Masters and PhD in Speech and Language Pathology.
Her book, Come Sit With Me: Life in Poetry, Prose and Plays, is both fiction and nonfiction and spans Slavery, Jim Crow, Civil Rights to today. Focusing manly on black women she tells stories that need to be told about our past. One's that we can not forgot and one's that help us understand who we are as a Nation.
