An Intense Debate About Menopause Leave Divides Penny and Jane | Loose Women

Ойын-сауық

A proposal for a “menopause policy” is to be implemented at City Hall to help support all colleagues going through menopause transition. Jane, Penny, Brenda and Charlene talk tiredness, mood swings and mind fog and ask is it time we took menopause symptoms more seriously? And should all companies offer employees menopause leave?

chronic insomnia, indescribable fatigue during the day, cognitive issues, memory loss, joint stiffness, body aches and pains, depression, anxiety attacks, emotions all over the place. I’ve worked in stressful management roles most of my career and can’t right now. I never ever knew it could be like this.

Trudi you should take a look at the Channel 4 documentary on 12th May with Davina McCall and Dr. Louise Newson. Maybe find a specialist like Dr. Louise Newson and get sorted out on HRT so that you don't have to continue suffering these horrific symptoms. It is the exact same as treating any hormone deficiency like diabetes or thyroid issues.

I love Penny Lancaster, always a very understanding, empathic, and intelligent view on things. She just doesn't see things from her own perspective, she understands everybody's needs and situations. And she never gets heated, always very calm and professional but not afraid to show her real feelings either.x 😊

I had horrible menstrual cramps and extreme heavy bleeding when I went through puberty. It was awful. Pretty much thought I was going crazy. 40 years ago, no one talked about it. You suffered through it each month. Then....all these years later menopause hit and it was horrendous. I didn't even know that's what it was. Pretty much thought I had cancer and was bleeding to death. My mother and older sister went through menopause with zero symptoms, so I had no idea. The doctor did not even mention that it might be menopause. If I hadn't of been watching Loose Women on youtube, I would have never figured it out. Found a doctor and I feel like a new woman. Thank you Loose Women for talking so openly about the symptoms and what can be done. I'm now shouting it from the mountain tops. I tell all my friends and co workers what to do so they don't have to suffer.

Imagine if men got the menopause...what would the work place be like then? What if men got periods...how different the world would be. ♡

I think we should aim to treat men and women equally but not necessarily identically.

I have recently had to take a 2 week sick note, l am 50 and post menopause. I wake up soaking wet, l shower then dry my hair. I start sweating again, my hair goes fizzy, l am dripping with sweat, trying to dress, l start to cry and start to panic. I get in my car and start to drive to work, panicking lm going to be late, l’m still sweating. I make it just in time. I just want to cry because l hate feeling like this, somedays l forget what l am doing and l am alone in this nightmare. I don’t know who l am anymore, l have no one around me who understands. I have started on HRT patches and even they don’t stay on which do not help balancing my Estrogen levels, then there is the shortage. Even booking an appointment with my GP is a task in itself. I just have appointments over the phone to avoid taking time off to see my doctor as l don’t want to draw attention to myself as a liability and an inconvenience to a business. Because that’s what business think and that’s why women suffer in silence. Low energy and moods, weight gain the list is long. Women don’t want to be a burden to anyone but the reality is this is happening to women all over the world and we need to speak out and we should not be judged, instead we should be supported. Every women going through the menopause has different experiences and symptoms and no one has the right to be ignorant towards each other. To listen and support can make a difference.

People also need to be aware that the menopause can happen at any age. I’m 26 and am going through early menopause. It does make work difficult. However I’m aware that it’s a natural thing, so I try not to make too much of a thing.

I had a premature menopause at 22 I’m now 39. It is difficult and honestly although it is natural it’s not ‘normal’ at such a young age. I understand not making it a thing but don’t be scared to talk to everyone you know about it so it doesn’t become a thing. I have always been honest about mine and it has helped me so much. Sending love. Ps Daisy Network are awesome
