I had to watch four different videos on this. You were the first one to mention you need to jump with the scooter. Once I knew that I managed to do the glitch in less than two minutes. Thanks a lot.

You actually don't need to jump with the scooter. I recently was trying to 100% the game and needed to cheat the jump rope challenge. The video I found did not show jumping with the scooter but it worked for me. Granted, it's probably easier to jump with it. I didn't even think to jump with it because, as you stated, this is like the only video showing jumping with the scooter.

A strange thing I found when trying to get the "M" out, is that you can get both it and the "O" to move forwards into the invisible wall without moving the joystick! It's a strange yet interesting glitch.

Just now I managed to do this glitch. I almost gave up a few times, but I was really happy when I finally got it to work

I did it! I practiced the glitch, and it was a success! I put the letter A above the jumping rope, then I got a moon after jumping 100 times.

It is jun 1, 2022. From personal experience (i cant say for anyone else) it is harder than when this video was released, and it has a chance to slide out of the way, but it does still work

For me it was impossible to get it with the scooter, I only really got it when I put the letters together like 2:10, now I finally got my moon in the Jump Rope Challenge, thank you very much.

WORD OF CAUTION - when you get the M out - for example - and a flippin taxi happens to stop right in front of you...don't try and go around it via the side walk because i managed to shunt myself BACK INTO the boundary TWICE before i got wise

I walked by the siege taxi and got warped there because of it, I think. Edit: OK, the video covered that. I paused part way while I was trying to get the M out.

When the jump rope moon was the only thing standing between me and my 100%, this glitch saved me.

Hey Fir! I started watching your modded speedruns and they inspired me to finally 100% smo. I was having the worst time with jump rope challenge but this really helped. Sure, some might think glitches are cheating, but I don't really care. Anything to complete it :D It took me a ton of attempts but I got there eventually, clipping the A free after using all the other letters to prevent the M pushing to the side accidentally

Personally I've never made it past 80 in the jump rope, I really don't have the rhythm for it. But this glitch takes about as much work as other normal moons, so it still feels satisfying to get it in a 100%. Same with the Class S bound ball moon. I for the life of me can't get it legitimately, but with the shortcuts I can just barely beat the ridiculous requirement ofan average of 37 seconds per lap. And also the same with the bullet bill one on dark side. Jumping back up and going iver the top instead of chaining longjumps is a bit cheesy, but still very satisfying to get. But those are the only ones I can think of that I generally cheese every playthrough.

Thanks! Using the second method, I was able to get a moon I assumed I'd never be able to!

Going to play Devil’s Advocate here and tell you to not use this glitch to fake the Jump Rope Moon. This challenge wasn’t meant to be grinded out all at once. It’s a difficult and musical-level of challenge and just like when you learn difficult music, you don’t do it all at once (most of us don’t) you section things out, hit it for 1hr, rest, hit it again for 1 hr, rest, give it a day of rest or 12 hrs or 2, whatever works for you. This jumprope challenge is incredibly healthy to overcome. Very unique and timeless type of challenge. You shouldn’t cheat it.

Interesting softlock I found: Move the letter to the top of the manhole that you use to get to the power plant. Capture the manhole and move it away, then capture the letter. It should fall into the hole. Uncapture it as soon as the letter falls down, and you should stand on nothing. (You can't capture the letter for some reason, and you can't ground pound either.)

I was trying to figure out how to do it from Smallant's glitch video. Couldn't figure out how to get the M to clip into the A until your video where you said to lightly press right, whereas Smallant said up. Thank god. Finally got that dumb 100 jump rope moon.

Can confirm, as of May 21st, 2024 the glitch still works! I couldn’t figure out the scooter method so I used the method at 2:10 and it worked like a charm. Just gotta be persistent! Also, DO NOT cross back into the original block area or else you’ll get trapped again.

I just found a glitch where when you do the glitch to get all the letters out, if you place the M at a certain angle, you can move the guy to your left by total accident.

How do you respawn the letters? I placed then at their correct spot earlier but now they wont get off anymore

As of 15th October 2023, I can confirm that this still works, I was able to glitch M out and complete that dreaded rope genius challenge. For those who are not able to do it, you have move the letter closer by pressing Y (dashing), without it I was also not able to do it but with dash it worked

Finally got the jump rope challenge! Scooter didn't work for me either though. I had to put the letters together to get it. The scooter kept moving too much and I spent a solid 30 minutes trying to get it only for it to not stay put.

Thanks fir, I was able to do it in just 4 tries

i cant believe he forgot about the suckage glitch which is where if you get a letter right next to new donk city hall (assist mode needs to be on for this) leave the letter go in the hall and go out but capture the letter before landing and finally jump off the cliff with the letter so you dont touch the ground then you will be in the city hall but you will be stuck to the right wall and if you manage to go through the wall it will teleport you seemingly randomly

works on july 3rd 2023. a tip is to just slightly like barely press right when your on the M and it will connect to the A.

It’s almost 2024 and it STILL works!

This was my first ever glitch

One thing that did happen to me was that (at least for the A) when you get it out it could glitch and go like crazy fast around the map and throw you to the void, so i would say that always look out for this glitch (heh, a glitch in a glitch) and when it happens imeadiatly get out, now, i dont know if the letter will still go flying but atleast you wont die! I say i dont know beacuse the first time i didnt know about it and the second time the letter bumped into the crazy cap post things and stopped.(Also I am writing this as i do the jump rope glitch LOL).

As of November 21st, 2021, 12:11am, this glitch still works, though it does take a small amount more effort than it used to as the M must have the scooter as far left as absolutely possible while clipping the A. It pulls too far otherwise

Bro they stopped updating the game in 2019

From testing, apparently the letter I has a chance to just go at light speed through the buildings for some reason. I managed to do it twice in a row somehow.

idk what im doing wrong but everytime i try i get the scooter perfect and try the move the m but it just goes side ways

Did it!! 😭😭 I actually just kept getting the m closer and closer using multiple runs at it, also the m can be at any angle and I could block it off from other angles if it slipped into a funny angle lol

Wonder if Nintendo hasn't patched it because so many people hate the jump rope moon. I had a hard time getting the first one, second one I said screw it and used this glitch.

Glitch still works as of 9 April 2022. I was able to get it with the A, but for some reason the R wouldn't push out even when clipping with the M.
