I trained a Goju Ryu based Karate style through to Shodan from 1986 to 1996, then life happens, and I stopped training entirely. One of my favorite memories is when we went to multi-style tournaments... We thought we were tough but when we met the Kyokushin fighters we found out we were not as tough as we thought :-) but it was awesome and earned our respect! Osu Now 28 years later, at the beginning of this year, age 53 I started Kyokushin with my 10 year old daughter. We train together 3 times a week (I'm doing the parents train with their kid class) and she is absolutely loving it. We graded to Orange belt a couple of weeks ago. And I have totally got that feeling back again from back in the day when I was 15 and fell in love with Karate.

Osu I am turning 53 this year as well in October :) and I started my journey in kyokushin in 1990 and remember the tournaments - myself I also participated in a bunch of them here and abroad in Costa Rica - Porto Rico … and also was part of the fighting team here. At 185 lbs there where days that I thought I was the strongest and invincible :) We trained vigorously every day and we even had special fighting classes specialized for tournaments every Tuesday and Friday night from 8pm to 11pm where we had only the fighting team train doing specific fighting drills plus conditioning ,speed , power etc Those were some of the hardest and coolest moments :) Now I don’t fight any more but run a little dojo and work with children 4 and up and teach them - the next generation- the art of kyokushin karate best I can Arigato Thank you for you comment and sharing your journey. It is a beautiful but hard journey with lots of rewards and benefits and it does not matter what age you start at . Under a good instructor kyokushin will teach much more then just fighting and it is perfect for the younger generation - It helps children find their voice their inner strength teaches discipline focus and much more - all these benefits that will trickle into daily life beyond just the dojo floor Osu Also thank you for watching the video Any feed back will be appreciated
