    This in-depth conversation with the engineer behind the legendary Susvara dr Fang of Hifiman was only possible thanks to our Patreon members and the CMA audio lounge Telegram chat group.. Deeply grateful for everyone of you for getting us to Munich 2024.. I would appreciate it if you could share and all the other usual things if you found it informative and hopefully others will too, thanks again.

    It's nice to hear that the only silent revision to the Susvara has been the socket. It opens up the discussion about what else could cause the variation. Pads, cables, etc.

    Very interesting interview! I'm in the process of trading up from HEKse to a refurbed Susvara and wondering if pads are automatically replaced or only if they "look" worn? Do the techs take Freq response measurements during "refurb"...or is it just visual inspections?

    From all the information I have gathered in the community when people have sent units back it’s usually just replaced. I think it works out cheaper.

    Definitely, this will be coming because I’m revisiting HM One again because my perception and the abilities of this amplifier in regards to other DAC needs to be put on video it’s twice the amp it was originally now it’s insane This chain is so good it made me cancel AIC 10 Riviera

    CMA, why have you sold your Susvara? It seems to undermine your claims that it's such a special headphone, against which all others (except the electrostatic ones) should be compared. Even if you didn't enjoy it that much for your daily listening sessions, would it not be beneficial to the channel to keep such a seemingly "perfect" (in terms of transparency) headphone as a reference point?

    @@ConvinceMeAudio, I prefer the Susvara over the Stax, for various reasons (although it would be nice to have a pair of electrostats to use with my iFi Phantom amplifier). If you ever decide to FINALLY part with the HiFiMan, you have a definite buyer here.

    The problem with recent Hifiman headphones is not easy to spot on in normal graph like fr response but in csd and long listening because they all sound soft and ringing. So imo only trained or experienced ears can feel those problems but the newbie will most likely love the huge and fast of Hifiman big planar drivers

  • @ConvinceMeAudio

    @ConvinceMeAudio

    2 ай бұрын

    Equipment behind the drivers tend to change a lot of these aspects too, this is why when you’re seeing a review and you’re not seeing the chain or the amount of equipment that it’s been tested on you should take it with a pinch of soul Frequency response does not tell all measurements does not tell all not even close

    @@ConvinceMeAudio yes I never said any graph told all but almost all Hifiman headphones I have heard sounded rigging to my ears regardless of amps and that problem shows in cds graphs that are easy to find on all over internet. So I believed it was not my ears problem but the drivers design problem

    no thank you mate, I appreciate the offer. I am very familiar with his work but he is not somebody who I would like to interact with. He does not have a clue about music or have good hearing and I’m not a fan of the way he tests equipment especially the super flagship category, he has very little to offer me personally and what he does I think is not helpful to the community or to potential music and hi-fi enthusiasts, There are so many mistakes in what he does. It will take me a book to write about it. But I do appreciate commenting and checking out the video. I hope you stick around and maybe you might learn something here. To

    @@ConvinceMeAudio #1, this comment was meant for the general audience. The last sentence you wrote about learning was a bit arrogant, but that is ok. You don't know how I think, so I forgive the arrogance and judgement. On a different note, ignoring basic measurements like distortion and reflections within gear is a personal decision, that you are free to do. Audio Science Review puts out great data to reference buying decisions with, no matter your personal view of what you think about them, how they listen or don't or the data. There are tons of shills out there who won't even mention data like that, so that they can flip you on a referral link. Of course reviewers will hate Audio Science Review because it messes with their subjective point of view and potential profit on a product that they are trying to pitch. Try to stay open minded, it is just free data that is unbiased.

    @@bobe2933 sometimes things can come across a bit aggressive in text. This is why I like communicating via voice in the chat, A data set is extremely important for this job. There is no way I would ever disregard measuring data. I just stated that ASR is not the place I would go to to get it. I’ve kept an eye on it for the last five years minimum if not longer and what I have gathered has not inspired confidence, that’s all I was getting at We need scientific data set to back up the subjective opinion one way or another lean into one side or the other strongly is never a good thing especially if you’re arrogant enough to do reviews and to state you should buy this or that and I put myself under that umbrella I just am not a fan of his way of going about it. That’s a personal decision and I’m very very firm about this. I think I have earned a little arrogance LOL. I’ve been playing around in this field for 22 years from music theory live music now to production now to this end of the spectrum. 😂 but don’t take it too seriously it’s only Audio at the end of the day it doesn’t cure cancer
