I liked your comment Sir. But I would like to point out that our institutions (and hence their products) have yet to gain same discipline, respect for merit, professionalism and rigour one would associate with unimpeachable sources. We are improving though.

Great analysis. I don't think RSS has any choice after Modi other than Yogi. Amit Shah can't lead RSS or nor RSS support him. Yogi definitely changed alot after becoming CM in terms of institutional governance.

​@Ximrets-ix8uxPrecisely my frustration with RSS. But I found Vinay Sitapari's explanation to Barkha Dutt in his interview regarding his book - The BJP before Modi. I know these are liberals, but it was good. According to him, Hindutva is like a fevicol to unite Hindus who were historically, divided by caste, sect and regional rivalries, with dynastic tendency. The RSS organisation is designed to overcome these challenges to unite Hindus, in an unconventional way. The interview was quite impartial, although having liberal bent of mind. It was okay by me, because I am a right-wing liberal. I wish RSS is indeed a right-wing liberal group or evolving into one. I feel it is evolving into one.

Hinduism has always had wildly different sects like the Vaishnavs and Shaiviks who have completely divergent opinions on consumption of meat, alcohol, views on women etc and as you pointed out politicians needed to corall all these sects into one vote Bank. Thus, the beautiful realpolitik move of creating an abstract concept like Hindutva that can be all things to all people. For the Vaishnavs it means peace and love and for the shaiviks it can be as militant as they might want to believe.

Sanya Really well researched. Thank you. Good to know these various strands of push and pull between Yogi, RSS, Sabha and BJP. My initial reaction on pronunciation was within the first few minutes and is a common grievance of mine against lack of basic founding in any Indian language for the new generation of city based reporters. We lose our language (whichever Indian language it is that we call our mother tongue), we lose a significant portion of our understanding of our own culture.

Supporters of BJP have no problems with BJP, RSS VHP or Adityanath. All support Hindus. Your divide and rule propaganda wont work. BJP is seized of all this. The Hindus are seized of this.

Nice analysis, I watched to the end even though I wasn't planning to. What irked me was the constant quoting of analysts who don't reside in India. It reflects a colonial mentality. I trust Shantanu Gupta but not people who see us but are not us. Can't the Print's journos get someone from the ground? They did so much of valuable ground reporting in April 2024! It's a philosophy encompassing all including the balance of socialism and capitalism. I'd suggest for yogi or jailalitha or modi one has to get into reports keeping aside the media narratives to understand the metrics of their work, the progress or the negatives.
