Naturally you would expect me to make comparison on the 2nd part of that sentence such as calling a politician a liar is like calling a man, human or xenomorph, an alien. But i made the comparison to himself which is the joke it's not that funny because you're not meant to think too hard about it. Also I accidentally wrote political which didn't help. This is the cinematic masterpiece that was the real Inspiration for all TopGear and Grand Tour episodes. The whole "The producers say" started with that Vectra review.
One could say Clarkson single handily dragged the standards of the U.K. car world off the floor kicking n screaming into the new age . The Vectra review was by far the most entertaining programme of its time . Clarkson is and will always be an absolute legend

Rubbish. The Vectra was a perfectly capable car but of course it appeared dull compared to the super cars Clarkson likes to drive. He was actually sneering at the tastes of the ordinary British driver, just as he continues to do so today.

5:20 - If you'd said that one of these men would be priminister 20 years later, I would have assumed it was Clarkson. Even then he knew Borris was a lier.

We should have elected Clarkson instead, tbh. But he won't do it now; he's too busy farming. Although now it's winter, I guess he can take a few months off to be PM. It's not like we won't change this one out after a few weeks.

If I were English I wouldn’t want either Clarkson nor Johnson. Just because he’s entertaining, doesn’t equal good leadership of a whole country.
Who knew all those decades ago that I'd still be able to quote 'Just a rollerskate grand touring all over the physical ironic power' word for word.
The Vectra flopped after this Clarkson was blamed for it but his impact has never really been determined

Well, I reckon that even more than his remarks at the beginning of this montage it was what came after that in his review on Top Gear, which was when he took it to the services and asked company drivers what they thought about it and they hated it so much more than he did.

I had a V6 Vectra for a few years. Bargain 2nd hand car at the time. It was a bit bland, but not *that* bad

Given what Clarkson later pointed out as the reason for SAAB's demise... yeah~ *GM* was wholly to blame for the Opel/Vauxhall Vectra being a largely uninspired damp rag. Motoring Journalists telling it like it is just made the Vectra's underperformance inevitable, while GM was the root cause.

@@ytozon1 It's fine. Shared B5 platform with A4. Engine mounted longitudinally. 4-link suspension at the front. Curved roof line - almost can be called futuristic & made LWB model look good. When Compared to the copy paste crap VW are making these days B5 was unique. It showed efforts.

Clarkson is just very awkward when presenting anything to a live audience. Other than clowning around on scripted Topgear, with the other two. Craig Charles was much more natural and charismatic.

@@paleoph6168 Me too. There sould have been a mix of both in the "Mid aged Top Gear" and TGT. And they should have the very famous Chris Goffey onboard for that. I liked him very much. He knew stuff, knew how to drive, was fair and not boring nor dull.

@@paleoph6168 Fifth Gear is the successor to Old Top Gear, and even has most of the non-Jezza presenters. But, TBH, I don't need Jeremy Clarkson to tell me which car to buy. The choice is basically Ford or Vauxhall, and then it comes down to whatever used car has the right combination of spec, price, and miles, and how the salesmen treat me when I walk in.
What a legend, throwing a pen at Ian Hislop and calling Boris Johnson a liar.

I’m on the fence with Jeremy. He’s entertaining, at least when he has Hammond and may with him or perhaps kaleb. Top gear is hilarious and I love it. But he’s done some really stupid stuff and said some bad things and he’s a bit of a diva. He punched the TG producer after a spat about dinner. But he’s right about piers Morgan. Terrible disgusting person.

Really? I mean I think he's funny but I ABSOLUTELY understand when people call him an asshole or think he's a bad person and whatnot. Like BearFlipsTable said, Clarkson is indeed a diva who has said and done some borderline stuff in the past, things he's had to walk back and apologize for. His whole shtick is being a controversial figure with lots of opinions on lots of topics.

Vectra V6 wasn't actually bad. It kinda went like the clappers for a car like that in Aus in the day but hard to come across. It was even labelled as a Holden. The same company that returned the favour later to Vauxhall with the Monaro
Gerald in the combine has to be one of the funniest moments of all time.

The reason why he's not held in as high regard as the other hosts is because he was rather disparaging about some of the competitors and the show as a whole. While I agree that his style of presenting could be funny at times, he wasn't as good a host as Craig Charles or Dara who definitely had much more of a passion for it

Good car and pleasant looking too. One of the most aerodynamic of its era in its class, like all the Opels and Vauxhalls from the late 80s and 90s
