That's me with Lies of P. Am halfway thru a 2nd playthru but still not really into it. Lords I beat about 5 or so times

been waiting for this video, love to hear Prods thoughts on the game. I went radiance through this game and I gotta say, it slaps. I did a paladin idea at first and then I found the ravager great sword... and I became Ungabunga paladin and just charge attacked my way through soooo much of the game, it was a blast. However, my favorite spell would have to b e the thunder spell that rains down lightning on enemies, if only because it was just so useful and you can layer it till there are like 50 lightning bolts chunking down everythings health, and the tracking is pretty good as long as they aren't running. Honestly, I loved this game too, it was a blast, for me it's a 7.5 or 8 out of ten game that seems to be only getting better honestly.

I love that game. For picking your ending, I'd suggest to do the Adyr one on your first playthrough if you want to keep increasing your NG on each playthrough, from NG+3 vestiges are all gone except Skyrest and shrine of Adyr so running back to all the beacons without the vestiges would be boring AF. You should do all NPC quests with this ending as well (except Iron Wayfarer, do his quest when you want to get the umbral ending). With the normal ending you just activate the beacons as you go, it's simple. For the umbral ending you can just skip bosses as you don't need to clear the boss guarding each beacons, so you can fully skip the Fief of Winter’s Chill Curse area with the crow boss, there's no point going there except for talking to the Iron Wayfarer in the umbral, and he is not far off in the area. You can fully skip the Tower of penance as well (but you can get the rune tablet for Gerlinde so before killing her, have Sparky teach you how to upgrade stuff. You can get a Deralium chunk and Rebirth Chrysalis like on the first level of the tower as well so I do get them on each playthrough, it's super quick if you know what to do). You can do the Abbey of Hallowed Sisters 'till you kill the boss for the Mark of Adyr then you don't need to clear the rest, no need to get to the Empyrean.

I really loved the game. And I agree with almost all of your points - with my two biggest cons being a) The radiant ending boss was super underwhelming and made beating the game not really feel like an achievement and b) I felt like a couple of the bosses were a little too easy (Though with that said, as of writing this they just updated the game to make the bosses more difficult - so I shall be trying those on my next playthrough)

Yeah the normal final boss is pretty much just Deacons of the Deep 2.0, it kinda feels like they wanted to replicate Doom Eternal's final boss with a huge enemy but since it's an action RPG not an FPS we can't really attack something that's like 100m tall. Elianne should be the default final boss. The Sundered Monarch was also comically easy after Judge Cleric. She is by far the best boss in this game IMO.

I went with a strength radience build at first but I also got a little into umbral magic near the end. The Hushed Saint's javelin throw was my favourite spell but I've yet to use inferno. I'm planning to do that on NG+

NG+ sucks in this game. They take out like 90% of the vestiges so you won't be able to freely warp to any point at will. Currently at like 20% of NG+ and forgot to save the blacksmith. I realized I needed to run back all the way through 999,999,999 mobs and just said fuck it, no upgrades for me.

Ng+ is new game from beginning starting all over again just like the others accept you have your current level and equipment minus quest line items always will be such this process elden ring all graces reset same thing lol

@@kurejiakuma Nah, totally way different than Elden Ring or any souls game. Have you even played NG+ yet lol? For the most part, you can re-activate bonfires/graces/lanterns/etc. and warp to them once you do on the Souls series. In this game, you are forced to use vestige seedlings in places where there used to be vestiges during New Game+. Not to mention you can only every carry a max of 5 vestige seedlings. Then once you plant a new one, bid goodbye yo the previous one, there's no warping back there other than sprinting all the way from Skyrest Bridge. TLDR - The great majority of Vestiges are replaced with seedbeds. You can't re-activate them on NG+

Naw lol been loafting grinding a bit trying finish the other quest lines but I figured the vestiges would remain too Yea that can be a pain if we could maybe drop 3 or 4 at once that would help alot

Thanks for the kinda review prod lol. I really do like this game alot & have enjoyed the hell out of it despite issues.. I've said it countless times but feels like im playing a combination of DS 1-3 for better or worse.. kudos to the devs doing there best to make the experience smoother & better.. oh and i ran a Radiance Strength build with a Blasphemous cosplay with the bloody glory with radiant weapon, Lucent beam & Osiris lighting are my favorite spells.

When you talk about power stancing and unique combos are you taking about light and heavy attacks or the L1+R2 combos?

Absolutely never will I ever buy or promote a CI Hexworks game. This release was a disaster. We shouldn't have trusted them after the 1st fricken lords of the broken. Activision Rockstar and now CI games are forever banned by me 😂

Enemy variety is abysmal in this game. A single mini dungeon in Elden Ring has better enemy variety than the entire Unbeal Realm, not even exaggerating.

I'd be lying if i said i didn't refund it, but that's only because i'm gonna wait for more updates and community mods to come out. Right now Lies of P is the king. But Lords of the Fallen is a good alternative if you prefer Dark Souls/Demon Souls over Bloodborne and Sekiro themed combat.

Nice fair review, love this game and there is still so much potential.

I enjoyed the game and still enjoying it. Got umbral ending first time around thanks to some mostly spoiler free tips and it had a pretty good final boss for that route. Devs keep updating the game weekly atm and have a good content roadmap that'll cover the next couple months+ currently. I hope the best for them because I want to enjoy this game more online with friends and invasions but that still needs a lot of work as well as performance improvements to FPS and other stability issues. I'd say currently the game sits at around a 7 out of 10 for me, not great but I do really enjoy it.

Solid 7/10, really cool atmosphere and honestly very fun gameplay. It mostly suffers due to ganks and laggy online. I really liked how viable every build was, as well as a "make your own combo" approach and how you can parry or dodge whichever you prefer. It's definitely a shame how most weapons didn't have different movesets, hopefully a dlc or sequel can mix em up. I also loved the horror vibe from the game.

At first until half way in it was easily a 9/10 but the sheer number of unnecessary enemy spawns and lack of enemy variety killed the fun for me and bumped my score at the end to a 6/10

Waiting for sale but this game really reminds me of and makes me wanna play a DnD souls-like game. Fighter, ranger, Wizard, healer. Walking through amazing scenery and landscape for an exciting adventure. Enduring long, tough journey. Building camp when tired, rest comfortably by a bonfire. Fight deadly enemies and challenge iconic and intimating boss with friends. This could be a new path of souls genre aside from the death, harsh and unfair centered souls series.

let's be fair, most souls games have even more weapons and the same issue. Elden Ring's method of side-stepping this is giving us ashes of war, take that away and you'll find the same problem. i feel this game does ranged/magic better.

It does feel really weird, however you get used to it

After playing and finishing both Lies Of P and Lords of the Fallen i enjoyed both a lot ,but i have to give Lies Of P the edge between those two games. With that said in Lords Of The Fallen the NG+ was really bad interms of balance. Especially on mid game and after. Kinda killed the fun for me since a new game plus is always something that i like to do on games like these. I managed to finish it but in the end my feelings was to just uninstall the game which i did.

Great review Prod, didn't touch on the pc stability and performance tho. Would like to know that since if I'm getting it will be on pc.

My short review: Super fun single player. One of the best souls likes tbh. Fun co-op experience if you got good connection. Invasions suck, but I'm not an invader so 🤷‍♀️. Umbral stuff can be annoying sometimes. Bosses are way too easy. Overall 8/10 with 5 meaning average and 10 being perfect

Man, Radience strength build was insane. you actually feel like a proper Paladin. my favorite spell was the Healing radiance + sanctify and the piercing light i went with super heavy armor and the devotions might with the Blacksmith only rune which reduces weight to 0 for the weapon:D With the healing you will mostly be full HP all the time + the lloyds sword right or whatever it is called, you hit like a truck

Dont forget the eye of loash which converts physical damage to wither damage and while doing a charge attack your posture cant be broken, its seriously OP

After those couple updates games works perfect for me and I'm really enjoying it. And I bought it for 35e on sale which is really worth it. Love games in this kind of environment and it does great job in gameplay

This game does have its flaws like you mentioned but man I loved it. I hope they add dlc. I hope we get to fight the other 2 judges. Also in one of the updates it seems like they're adding special moves for boss weapons so that's gonna be exciting. But yeah definitely an 8-8.5 out of 10.

On the magic choice, i went radiance first then mixed in a couple umbral spells cause that spear from the horseman boss, boy oh boy its freakin gud :D

PS5: Great review. Cut scenes & world builds are spectacular. Dev's were generous on boss enemies: 37 possible Boss fights while maybe more diverse world enemies'd be nice.Early gameplay started rough but solid patches. Tired of waiting 4 storage box or sort options. Platinum was a brutal grind: 344 Armor pieces, 217 weapons, 65 trophies & quests that are really easy to miss but overall I'd probably give it a 7.5 to 8/10. Magic is solid, melee is great (move sets R limited); characters R interesting. Invasions R fair. I personally had a bit of network issue & those long range damage issues were patched but overall I was happy when invaded. Really solidly legit souls game. Loved respect for Patches, Onion Bro, Mimic's, etc.

Radiant Ending: 1 stupid end game mob type boss battle Inferno Ending: No boss at all, just end like that after you corrupt all 5 beacons. Though that are some extra enemies now that guard the beacons but not boss. Umbral Ending: One secret ending boss that are like Pieta reskin but with extra attacks. This one feel like the best to go for.

I'd give it 6/10 i kind of enjoyed it at the beginning/mid game but after like 45h i just wanted to finish this game and didn't even consider doing all achievements.

everything was fine to me, just the level design didn't have much visual direction. There was no focal point or light hints leading the way, yes the areas where connected but the level design was just spaghetti corridors.

Very good review sir. Agree with every points you mentioned. I really enjoyed this flawed game. Reeeeaaally. I was even surprised! A tad janky early on but sooo fun. And the constant updates barrages from the devs = GG. I went fire build as you did. I started another toon afterward and Radiant was too OP for my tastes. Especially with Pieta's sword. Ubral FTW. Hearing how easy it is to lock yourself out of endings (me being an umbral wizard) I get the sinking feeling i'm not going to be getting the Umbra ending. Liking the game thus far for a first playthrough but it makes me sad this will probably be another Eldenring where I play through once and then dont really touch it after getting to the ending.

i played this game on ps5, on release. played through with a friend all the way through. honestly love the game but holy shit the frame drops were abysmal and for that reason alone i gave it a 7/10 but i have been recently playing again, and noticed that a lot of it was fixed. im glad the devs are doing their best to patch things up. great game.

Dude I really love you going back a forth between pros and cons. I hate when reviews do pros then cons because it pretty much amounts to praising it for 5 minutes and shitting on it for 10 minutes. 10/10 review 🤘 btw I love this game. One of my favorite games this year. Even though it has some big flaws.

My biggest complaint are the enemies. There aren’t enough variety in the fodder enemies to set the areas apart. Instead, you fight all the same guys then a boss battle just to realize that now that boss is the common enemy in the next area but they’re such a pain in the ass to fight that you just run past them And I’ve found out that most of the game can just be run past until you get to the next boss area and that’s really the only progression there seems to be I just wish there were more variety in the common enemies

the umbral system is legit a good upgrade on DS1's humanity system

It’s going to be hard to pick this up after platinuming Lies of P, that game exceeded my expectations. I’m still on the fence about this one.

I actually love the game, yeh it has issues like lag all am experiencing. I really hope in the future there be DLC if there’s a popular demand for it

not a fan of the game, didn't really click for me, but it's fine. But the art direction was really, really great, everything related to the visual aspect of the game was truly beautiful. Will we get a small review for Lies of P too? To compare 2 of the biggest soulslikes that came out close to each other

My opinion the start is amazing was having a blast very good take but then half way through all the enemies keep repeating nothing is new and the bosses are not difficult quite disappointing at the end

My biggest pro would be the visual design and my biggest con the music. I always crank up the music in souls games to feel the epicness while fighting but in this one it didn’t too anything for me. Mostly felt way too quiet, out of place or the rhythm/tone wasn’t matching with what is happening at the moment. There were some expectations like judge cleric or the monarch but overall the OST didn’t impress me at all. Overall pretty nice game tho.

Although I also felt sometimes they were too quiet I personnally realy liked the soundtrack! Better than the LoP soundtrack for comparaisons (aside some disks of course, but it's a shame they're optionnal and almost no boss themes reach their level)

I disagree a lot about radiant being better than umbral magic, Ive done a playthrough with all 3 classes and umbral I can say has by far the best AOE and single target damage when it comes to magic you just gotta know what spells to use, where to find them and have the right pendants/rings and umbral runs with the crown here easily

Beyond objectively good game. I usually understand most souls likes are mid and hate them, but this and lies of P have changed things recently. The tides are finally turning

Got it for chritsmas and I'm having a blast. Amazing game.

The problem with the umbral realm is that it basically being on a timer discourages exploration… in a game where exploration is a large part of the enjoyment. I understand why they wanted to create that feeling of dread, but think the got things wrong.

They are working on decreasing the spawn rates in umbral, but its meant to be a risk reward. You get a vigor multiplier, but more enemies spawn overtime. That way you have an option to get easy vigor for upgrading or purchasing items without having to suffer on a boss fight for a while

This actually reminds me of Dead Cell's final difficulty which spawns more enemies everywhere the longer you spend on a level. This makes the route focus more on speed-running a level (or finding vendors which reduce your current gauge). But it's kinda counter-intuitive to exploring the level and looking around for suitable weapons and abillities, since it's a Roguelike and all.

I agree with everything but 1 thing. 1 mimics are amazing I love them. I laugh every time I fall for it even though I know the tell. Because it's entirely my own fault. I love that they move locations it's a wonderful mechanic. Also i do think enemy density is a bit high but only in late game areas. I think all the mobs or enemy's are well made except for the flying moth lady's. They are way too tanky and need an HP nerf. Well into the end game at full build it's still hard to delete them.

Anyone know if they are going to fix the lag issue? I’ve been playing on Xbox x and turned all the graphics settings off and still was stuttering (not as much) but still enough to get frustrated…

We want a similar video for lies of p!! I will make a petition to see it.

They seem to have somewhat fixed the Australian servers, we are getting the same rewards as everyone else now

(Biggest Cons): I really don't like how all the weapons function the same. Every straight sword swings the same, every great axe swings the same, etc. None of the weapons feel truely unique from one another. Also the games released was terribly pathetic. (Biggest Pro): Armor looks really cool.

Im enjoying the game a lot honestly, only issue i have are lags, but thats it

I was on the fence with this game because, on one hand, lots of people say this is the BEST soulslike. On the other hand, it looks like it's better to wait for all the issues everyone's complaining about to get fixed. So I'm glad we got to see your perspective since, unlike lots of this game's reviewers, you're actually a souls veteran- so you can tell us what's genuinely BS or not. Convinced me to give it a try.

Imo Lies of P is the best soulslike and my personal goty. Lords of the Fallen is very enjoyable as well tho.

They need a souls-like game with Angels and Demons. Kind of like Dante’s Inferno. But with a Dark, Gothic style. Not too Fantasy styled like these games. Kind of want it on the vibes of that movie Legion and the movie Priest. And access to Hell, Earth, and Heaven. I’m no game developer so I hope I inspire one of you out there to make that a thing.

This is one of those ones that I'm interested in but I know I'll only ever touch it once so I'm gonna wait until all the DLC is out.

Personally, I prefer when mini boss come back as a posed to more bosses. It feels better, like what was a special challenge from early is now the standard, versus important entity has copies somewhere for additional challenge

To me the game is about a 7. I don't understand the people who say it's better than "Lies of P" Both games have their flaws and good moments... but the consistency of L.o.P. it's so much better. What both games prove though is that From Software are still untouchable at this style of game. Oh I'd give L.o.P. a solid 8.5

First one is better toolbag, slow heavy combat is satisfying.

You say that but the state of combat between the original LotF and this "sequel" are almost the same. The world is great though and even though I can already see the struggles of dealing with the combat, I'll still end up giving it a try.

My main advices for an hypothetic sequel: - Attack animations need to be more diverse and realistic, especially dual wielding and two handed, and have more weight to them, and especially not propel your character 800 meters forward when you attack. This for both the player AND the enemies; - Umbral and Axiom need to be two actually separated worlds: Axiom should have its own enemies and environmental puzzles that should be unique to Axiom, and they should disappear once you go in Umbral, and vice versa, because right now there isn't much to do in Axiom, and you're rewarded for playing exclusively in Umbral. This also makes Umbral asphixiating because on top of Umbral enemies, there is also the regular Axiom ones. This needs to change. Also, instead of having so much useless normal enemies, Umbral could receive DarkSouls-like player invasions, making it even more difficult but also more engaging and fun; - Normal enemies get way too beefy and spongy in late game, making it boring to fight them, and players mostly run past them. Enemy health pools should be static, instead there should be more enemy variety. This means making more enemies that aren't dogs/crossbowmen reskins. Bonus tip: the game looks gorgeous, but it doesn't need that much particle effects to look good. Those just make performance unnecessary worse ;) Bonus tip 2: please work on your character creator, it's unnecessarily complicated and most of all, uneffective. Characters faces and bodies look HIDEOUS. Other than that, I have very few complains for this game. It's the best soulslike I have played this year, and I enjoyed it a lot.

I disagree with the static health pools idea. Even Dark Souls reuses some enemies and gives them more health. I don’t mind a basic knight walking around the endgame areas with boosted health. I do want more enemy diversity, though.

Can anybody help me I’m on PS5 and I have a hell of a time doing any type of co-op I’m probably 3/4 of the way through the game and haven’t been invaded yet and if I try to accompany a lamp bearer or a request assistance it just never ever happens. I’ve turned off cross play, which didn’t help either. I was only ever able to assist a lamp bearer who was playing on Xbox and it was the jankiest experience of my life.

Your enjoyment of the game really depends on how much of a problem you think the enemy spam is, everyone agrees its there just some dont get bothered that much by it, personally I genuinly hated the game bc of it and would never even consider giving it anything higher than a 3/10, but if you can look past that, you would prob like the game

Yes it’s damn good. I’m close to getting all the achievements which I never give a damn about, but Lords is downright fun to play. Rewards skill.

Lords of the Fallen is a 2023 Lamborghini Aventador but has the engine and transmission of a 1997 Nissan Sentra under the hood 😂. Worst $69.99 I’ve ever spent and the final boss is an even worse version of “Deacons of the Deep” from Dark Souls 3. I kid you not 😂💀

6-7/10 with potential to still get better. I like the game, they just buffed the bosses more but hey we said they were too easy lol

I’m having a weird experience, I loved it when I got it the first hour’s, then I got to the swamp n was like this is horrible. I wanted to like this game so much I bought a new tv just for it. I had old th so everything dark gets kinda grey.. like old tvs do. Well, it arrived today n the whole experience changed 😂 I’ve played 7 h today it’s just beautiful to watch omg. I’m guessing I kept getting lost in the swamp because I couldn’t see shit with my old tv. I thought I effed up I put everything on Radiant to get a special sword. Then I also realised hey I can duel wield. Now I’m rad str n just keep smashing monsters in it. Love it

Console version is fine I think to me this game was an 8.5/10 I loved it and thought everything was simply really really solid. Only think that brings it down for me is the PvP I feel like the combat is so fun that if it worked it would be something I would spend hours in.
