I'm working on something similar using ESP32s and LoRa. I should have been smart like you and used an existing car, but I get too in my head about designing stuff from scratch. I live out on the edge of the desert and my hope is to have a little autonomous car cruising around out there for days on end with me only taking control if I really need.

I used to fly 20km from my home to my parents with an old parrot drone and LTE mod, untill some bird fked me up half way lol. I need to build a 4g car at some point, it sounds like fun... Especially since I have quite a fun roads around, through forests and such, with bunch of wild animals, could be great footage.

LOL yeah the only issue is the ground interference, but I think if the antenna is high enough it should be fine.

They literally make 5g setups for using your rc through cloud thats what the majority ofvideos im seeing shown here are using you can order them online

you should make a relay for an analog system, that can sit on a drone that hovers like 100ft up and roughly tracks the car (human pilot could do the tracking). You'd get perfect video as long as you have LOS of the relay from both ends. It's also probably way easier to achieve than any of the 4g shit you pulled in this video lol

Issue with the 4G/5G is that the further you are from it the more the latency will be. The more towers are in the signal the latency just keeps adding up. Hopefully there could be a better solution.

I got a set of clacks for you right here. Pow pow! 😂💪 Naa I mean that bigger the distance between you and the other device the more antennaes are inbetween causing latency. Thats how cellular network works.

I've mostly seen the 4g car video's never seen the buying stuff at stores with them though, I guess my youtube algorithm isn't tainted with clickbait stuff haha.

Did you get you truck back ? Or did someone pick it up before your retrieval?

Well there isn’t really a good way to add this to GitHub because it’s a lot different parts and some of it was just using packages on the raspberry pi, and configuring them in the CLI and I wrote very minimal code. But what I did is I setup an RTSP video stream from the pi and used a reverse proxy server, which was provided by a service called ngrok and then connected to the video feed in a browser with that. Then I used a python web server that was used to interface with the raspberry pi GPIO pins and then i connected to that with a front end react app that was running on my laptop. This app is what read the USB game pad inputs and sent it to the server on the pi to control the motor and server via the GPIO pins.

now hook up a lil screen, speaker and mic so you can yell at passers-by.

Would this work on a wing?

Yes but you’ll need a low latency tunneling protocol like ZeroTier… AdruPilot can do this with RPi.

Best hope they don't add you guys to the drone bucket. Doing the unlimited range will surely get their attention.

I can confirm that all my FPV content is real and not fabricated 😂

I'm stuck at the networking part. Im trying to make a "any vehicle"-controll-device. I have A raspberry with 4G hat, connected to a flight-controller (pixhawk), running Mavproxy. All that is well and good. But for the life of me I can't get the videostreaming to work. I've been trying this on and off for a couple of months, I've exhausted ChatGPT on the subject... Seriously, he's just telling me to shut up now. I'm lacking the networking knowledge to do this. I also wanted to make a rover(LR RC car) at first, but with the Pixhawk it can control basically anything.

I setup an RTSP stream and then connected to it through a reverse proxy, and I used this service called ngrok, and then on a web browser I connected to the server of that reverse proxy. You'll have to connect a camera to the raspberry pi and then look up how to setup the stream, because I don't remember exactly what I did, but I think there's picam libraries and such.

@@grimripperrr I've setup a stream on port 8554/stream, Im forwarding it to url with ngrok (ngrok http 8554). Visiting [ngrok url]/stream still gives ERROR 404 not found. Im so close.. Arrggh

The blue car videos from TikTok are cool but the guy is still really close to the point of sale.

The 03 does not penetrate better then analog. Let me explain. Let's say you have analog at 500 mhz or so. That's pretty low bandwith but a 500 mhz wave will penetrate everything, including the ground much much better then 2.4 ghz or 5.8 ghz. So why does an 03 unit work better behind building? It's not penetration! It's bouncing! Radiowave bounce of all kinds of objects like crazzy. A single analog antenna system is unable to do anything with those bounced of signals because they will arrive back at the antenna at all kinds of random timings. Some waves might go 300 meter in the wrong direction, then bounce 2 km back, then bounce another 400 meters back before some of it is picked up by the antenna. But do you know what can deal with bouncy signals? A phase array system! So the 03 can work with out of sync data packets over both 2.4 ghz and 5.8 that arrive all wrong and out of order because of the wave bouncing, and then neatly assemble all the packets back in order and still give you some signal! This is something that is never going to be possible with analog, because you need digital packets that are numbered, so they can be put back in order!

Use a Nvidia Jetson nano dev kit Tad better Video Hardware Encoding Realtime speed (They have to So the NPU (neural processing unit) gets the data faster) - Video Codex's Take time (Cycles) to Compress And Uncompress Video these also use RAM buffers so even more delay and latency 5G is much better due You can Send RAW Uncompressed Video due you have the upland bandwidth for the amount of RAW Video Data I would add LoRA Wan Mesh as a commands/ status / Telemetry backup network (Ripple Mesh & Meshtastic) Nvidia Jetson nano + Ardupilot + Pixhawk (with GPS) (2nd AI) would be useful for A Local AI's to take Full Control of the Rover CAR in signal drops - No signal zones and can carry on without you for quite a bit if the Jetson Needs to Reboot / power Cycle it can Due the Pixhawk can Take over
