people who talk shit about fallout 3 because it has become popular to do so really have some of the worst arguments as to why fallout 3 is as bad as they say it is. and at least fallout 3 introduced a brand new enemy type with unique animations, design and backstory rather than re-texturing old creatures.

The extra side content Broken Steel adds is good as well, and is a cut above the content that is in vanilla Fallout 3, he should have covered it.

I think you have some lore incorrect in some of these. For example, in the Pitt the slavers do not HAVE the cure. They have a baby who is immune to radiation and they “THINK” they can create a cure from her genetics. Werner off puts the player because he is manipulative. I think it’s a good DLC because in reality, Werner is just an ex slaver who is trying to be the sole slaver of the Pitt without admitting it, but in reality the slaves can’t find the cure nearly as efficiently as the slavers could with their manpower. There isn’t a good option.

Thing with FO2 though was it was internally consistant. The NCR were pretty nice guys, but still overstretched and corrupt. They did their best to help the people and establish a stable and free society. The Enclave had good reasons for what they did, wanting to start fresh and do away with the mutated wastelanders. It was a battle between old and new, progress vs. history. So, even though it had some mental moments, the world was real enough that they stood out as jokes that were just there to be jokes. I think FO3 just isn't like that. The BoS are the absolute good guys, completely flawless. Super mutants are all dumb and violent bar 2. The Enclave are literally just evil for the sake of being evil. So the stupid jokes just make the world seen even more stupid. Like the AntAgonizer and the Mechanist. In 2 or NV, I think they'd actually fit as campy like nods to the 50s B movies that inspired the games. Hell the weiting in those 2 games was good enough that they'd probably be able to make them compelling characters that fit into the world around them. But in 3 it just serves to highlight how stupid the game is. Like yeah of course there's a superhero plot going on, yeah sure what a stupid reality this game has. It completely pulls me out of the experience. In 2 or NV it'd be funny and interesting. But in 3, it's just frustrating. Bethesda's writing capabilities just aren't anywhere near Black Isle/Obsidian's.

Yeah, I had a hard time deciding which is the lesser evil and I made a choice to leave the baby and turn against the slaves. I mean, it's already an evil thing to steal a baby from her parents, let alone give her to slaves who probably won't treat her right. Experimenting on her isn't also very good from Ashur and his wife's side but it's still their child so I don't really care what they do with her, as long as they do not hurt her in a specific way. I felt kinda bad though because the slaves still were slaves because of it and Medea was angry at me but I pretended that I really believed Ashur's words about letting them free as soon as they make a cure.

Additionally, Trogs are one possible effect of said mixture (the others being madness or death) 2) Trogs hate fluorescent lights, not just any lights. That's why the well-lit underground is their home but not Uptown with it's strategically placed fluorescent lights. 3) Ashur doesn't immediately attack you because he's meant to monologue to you first about stealing his baby, you ran right past him so he didn't have time to start his line making it seem like he didn't register you as an enemy.

I liked Operation Anchorage simply for the fact that i got to take part in the war that lead to this great universe. It also gave a nice change of pace in gameplay with actual structured combat sequences instead of Bethesda relying on the world design to create a engaging experience, also getting that unique T-51b that never degrades was awesome even if it was a bug. I don't think we played the same DLC from the sounds of it because Mothership Zeta is fucking awesome but it's only awesome when you do EVERYTHING. I can understand that people might not be okay with the theme but i don't think anyone minds the idea of more alien weapons and alien consumables so you can stand to sit through an alien campaign in order to get them. Listening to all the recordings of people the aliens brought up over the centuries was really interesting, exploring the various compartments of the ship that are off the main questline revealed very intriguing concepts about the aliens. Did you know they wanted to weaponize giddyup buttercups?! You even walk into an ominous room where they tested a new model on some targets and you can see it powering down after having laid waste to everyone. That's the kind of silly but dark humour i like Fallout for.

You misinterpreted his comment so you could scream "but there's gravity in space!?!". Yeah, no shit. But it doesnt work the way it does in this game. You'd gain momentum in one direction, and then you wouldn't be able to stop. There's a reason they have to be literally attached to the station or theyll go flying off into space. As for lack of weightlessness inside the ship, any civilization that can make use of interstellar travel would have developed artificial gravity for within their ships. that's just common sense, so of course he didnt mention that.

I disagree with you quite a bit on some of the DLC. I rather enjoyed Mothership Zeta. You kinda skip over basically everything in it. The little girl had been around since pre war times and kept alive by the aliens. She had been exploring the ship for the last 200 years so it's really not hard to understand why she knew about how things worked. There's also an interesting story about teaming up with the other people who had been abducted by the aliens throughout time like the cowboy, that medic from the war, and the samurai that I really enjoyed. It's ridiculous, sure, but so is everything else in Fallout. It's got old timey aliens that match the 1950s sci fi aesthetic of the game. I don't really see how it's somehow stupid compared to the rest of Fallout 3. It's a 1950s alien abduction story done in Fallout. I also really liked the alien weapons you get in it and talking to the time displaced people. The Pitt was really one of my favorites and I'm a little miffed you seemed to completely miss everything about it. There was a plan to get in and steal the cure, but you were lied to by Wernher and used for his own selfish goals. It's clear when you side with him that he has no real plan of using the antidote cause he has no clue what he's doing. When you actually talk to Ashur you find out that he's trying to develop a cure safely and only using slaves until he can solve things. So you're left with the choice of letting Ashur keep doing this thing and developing a cure or siding with Wernher and killing everyone, then screwing them all in the long run cause there's no way they could develop a cure. The choice was actually really interesting because there was no truly right answer. You could really debate on what was really the right choice. You seriously left out all the interesting aspects of The Pitt to scoff at it. The only DLC I didn't care for was Point Lookout. It wasn't bad. I had some enjoyment playing it for a bit but it was certainly extremely bland compared to every other DLC. I thought the new area was bland and the story was just okay. The most interesting thing about it was the side story about the Chinese spy.

My favorite part of Mothership Zeta is when it ends and you're left with a big ass mothership to use as a home base, not to mention the characters randomly give you stuff and aliens sometimes spawn in to give you more alien ammo. With a mod, you can also unlock the other areas because screw you Bethesda for not wanting me to be able to have fun with all of the mothership after working so hard to conquer it. I've even sometimes used console commands to get rid of some of the clutter, mostly the dead alien bodies.

Actually Mothership Zeta was one of my favorites of that whole DLC package. It introduced you to an entirely different setting, you got a whole bunch of really cool unique loot, and the whole "jailbreak in space" concept was entertaining to me. Plus crazy scifi wackiness is a staple of Fallout in general.
