Your courtyard garden will come in handy right out your door. Make sure you put the tulips where they get air around them and not wet at all. I though you weren’t supposed to harvest scapes until they curl? Awesome trug and great it has a cover. You have such a great community of gardeners. Here, not a one nearby so thanks for sharing. Yesterday it was so hot here in Wisconsin, US-94F, 34.44C the plants were transpiring and we haven’t had decent rain. Our normal highs should be 70s. We are still in drought and they say we improved but I don’t see it. Just like last year it started with rain then severe drought hit. Monday and Tuesday are alert days for severe storms and I think i need to wait to get the rest of tomatoes in, but they really can’t wait. Trying to keep everything watered yesterday I almost lost them. I planted out the earliest I’ve ever planted this year. The extra warm winter allowed several plants to survive that wouldn’t normally. I had first ever successfully grown bak choi by using low tunnel with frost cloth and plastic at times to start. I have broccoli forming already 👏🏼 Moles-strange enough we have not had moles for years since we used Milky Spore. Last year I had them and first siting ever in my life of voles-very bad I found out and hope we got rid of them. The mole returned this year 😡 so we must still have grubs. Thanks for all the hard work you and others do to put out videos.

Oh wow! Sounds like you've had some dilemmas! What is milky spore? Oh voles are another menace but i don't have issues with them haha... yet. Hopefully they won't be too much trouble for you. Danny 🌱

@@TheGrowUpChannel Milky Spore is a bacteria that kills for sure Japanese beetles and then the bacteria grows from the host. It comes in powder or granular and the effect lasts for 10-15 years. I think they say to apply the initial application spring, summer and fall, but I know I didn’t apply 3 times-maybe once. It has probably been at least 10 years and we haven’t had moles there since. It is not cheap, but it works for years. I just applied it to spots in the garden and will need to hit a few more. We had a terrible time before as it wasn’t just moles rutting up the lawn, but skunks and possibly possums and raccoons. It used to be a mess and only islands of grass.

If you put the cooper or galvanised pot scrubbers around the Trug legs it will stop the slugs getting to your salads as they seem to be working with me.

I bought two vegtrugs from quickcrop ireland in 2022. While the concept is good, mine are both stacked in a corner, unused. The first problem that I found was the huge amount of compost needed to fill them because of the shape. The other problem that I had was slugs. The buggers managed to climb up and took residence under the lining. Sadly, they didn't work for me.

Oh that's a fair review of your experiences. I've not had issues with slugs. I added copper around the legs from day one. So hopefully that helps. As for the compost to thill, agreed. It was a lot...but hoping a top up every year is all I need now. We shall see...

They are grand! They had a lovely time at malvern. It was too hot though! I think they are just busy 😊🌱

I looked at the price for the trug, is a decent price. Unfortunately I am way out of their delivery zone, literally the other side of the world. I like that design. Spring/early summer always brings out new challenges, new things to play around with. I put in leeks this year, slightly crowded in a large pot, but I like my leeks, so they need to perform. (Right, not likely 🙄) The prices for virtually ANY garden supplies, plants, tools is much lower than I can get. Seeds and scavenging for me.

Oh that's a shame! I feel the same about all your colourful metal raised beds you can get. We are limited to 4 colours haha
