I always try to fly without shoes whenever I can. It honestly allows my rudder inputs to be more precise. Its also chill as hell

Excellent. Thanks for no music background 8^). Two questions: (1) why is your spotter not using image-stabilized binocs? I have a set of Canons and they are a game changer, esp. with all of that vibration. (2) is that a Teddy Roosevelt bobble head on the panel? 8^)

I was surprised he had binos at all. There pretty cheap out there. And no one speaks English so we communicate threw pointing. And ya that's old teddy. He reminds me to make good decisions

I had about 300hrs back then. At the time no one was going to hire a 300 hr pilot that weighed 220lbs to fly R44. I was pretty desperate to get hours and I wanted turbine time anyways

Pretty much. It's mostly straight and level and then a .4 of fast pace flying when you have to push the fish into the net as the set it and try to catch them

Best advice I can give you is only fly for Hansen or island hoppers. Don't rush anything. Make sure you make good PIC decisions and take it super slow and cautious. Slow is smooth, smooth is fast my friend

If you have a FAA ticket i suggest you to do the CFI and teach at least one year, build up flight hours before to apply for tuna boat operations…. Geting skills will help you a lot… Just my two cents...

im a submariner, going into flight school next year after i get out. seems like this would be a good match for me lol. what are the other safety operations that went down on this boat? fire, flooding, or man overboard drills? how often? i'm curious how civilians run large boats. additionally, do you guys stay within flight range of shore? just in-case someone on the boat got hurt and needed medical attention asap

There are no drills. You need to realize that you are sailing with people that have no business sailing. Basically if anything happens just jump in the heli, fly as far as you can in the direction of land until you get a low fuel light, land on the water and hit the SOS button on your in reach and hope someone comes and gets you.

Unfortunately there all salt water activated. A few fellows got into trouble when the inflated inside the helicopter.

Hmm, wasn't sure what you were talking about until I had a look at the posts. It a appears that somebody is using my KZread channel to post things based upon their limited knowledge of flying. My apologies. I am on the hunt for this person as this is happening on other aviation posts as well. I suspect it is somebody who is living vicariously through my past experiences. That's personal preference. I didn't want an extra thing around my neck getting in and out. I tried it for a month but it was to cumbersome

Real 500 pilots don't fly the cyclic like a Jet Ranger. The cyclic trim is the path to a smooth flight. Must be new to type.
