Today we want to share this video for our extraordinary horse Loki, that touched our lifes deeply for a short time. It was way too short.
We are still in shock and deep grief.
Thank you very much for your honest and deep compassion, for those who have already read about our loss. This carries us through the time right now.
When we met Loki for the first time, we knew that this horse is extraordinary in many ways and has a very kind and old soul. Every day with him was a joy and blessing and I am very thankful I got to know him.
It's so hard to realize, that Loki isn't here anymore. My heart shouts for answers: "WHY?"
But I stop searching, because there is no answer. It's like looking for air in vacuum.
As you might know we were on a trail ride through the Austrian mountains with our horses the last week. As the mountains are, life is an up and down. After a week with bright and beautiful moments it suddenly became very dark for me/us.
The 26.06.21 was the last day of our ride and we suddenly came into a thunderstorm, which made horses and riders tense.
6 kilometer before our final destination, we had to go through a tunnel, which we already went through the day before without any problems.
I went with a good feeling in the tunnel because I felt so much TRUST for my wonderful horse Loki, who was just calm and listening perfectly.
There were two horses were in front of Loki, and the others were behind us. At one point I felt a lot of tension from behind, because one horse spooked and I felt something is coming from behind FAST. I felt helplessness. I have never been in my live so afraid of dying.
I knew if I don’t do anything I would die. So when I felt the horse behind us take off and run into us, I had to let go Loki, otherwise that horse would have run full speed into both of us. It was horrific to hear the sounds and the crack. I knew something very bad has happened during the collision with the other horse and the wall.
The darkest moment for me was when I saw my horse at the end of the tunnel. Bettina had found him and walked him the last third of the tunnel outside and he stood there, beautiful as he was.
When I saw his several times broken front leg my body nearly collapsed. I had to cry and shout because the reality hurt so much. Aniela, another girl from the group could hold him. I felt only so much pain and darkness in my heart to see him like this.. suffering and knowing that there was absolutely no chance for him.
I’m thankful that I got support from my friends. I immediately decided that Loki has to be released as fast as possible - we all knew. We immediately called the emergency, our local contact person and the vet.
Both injured people were immediately driven to the hospital.
Because the vet couldn’t come quickly, we decided that a very experienced hunter has to release him.
When I walked to Loki the last time I felt calm and I knew that’s the moment of saying goodbye. He blew his air in my hairs and for one moment everything was alright again. Then he got killed, I wasn’t there but Aniela guided him strongly and calmly through the transition.
Bettina and Don where the whole time beside Loki, too to make it as smooth as possible.
The other horses are all in all well beside smaller injuries. The two injured people have no life threatening injuries and will recover. The horses and humans who were behind the horse which took off, are alright and stayed calm. We want to send everyone in the team a lot of love.
I am still in shock.
The reason why we share this with you, is because we always share the beautiful moments which are sooo many. So we also want to tell you the truth about this horrible accident. We want tell you the details about it, to prevent rumours and wish that you handle this story responsibly.
We can hardly believe it. We had two very extraordinary horses that we lost in completely different circumstances - Makaio & Loki. They were both incredible and so loved. We don’t understand that anymore why they were taken from us so early, they were so perfect.
We will always honour my horse Loki.
With his calm reaction he saved my live. He was an angel on earth and I will love him so much - forever ❤️
He is irreplaceable.
Equipment can be replaced, broken bones can be healed but our friend Loki can’t come back again... 😔
We still haven't really realized it. I guess, this is why this video is so much in colour - because we remember him so alive.

Ich konnte es erst gar nicht glauben als ich den Titel gelesen habe, erst Makaio und nun auch noch Loki. Ich kann es nicht fassen…viel Liebe, Glück und Kraft an euch, es tut mir so schrecklich Leid für das, was ihr durchmachen müsst!
Oh my goodness I’m so incredibly sorry that such a horrible accident could have happen to beautiful sweet Loki. And I’m so, so sorry that you all had to experience such a horrific moment right before your eyes 😔 Nobody should ever have to endure something as traumatic as that. Please explain to me what happened ??? I know about Makaio being found dead in the pasture but what in the world had now happened to Loki. Gosh I can’t believe another tragic loss ??

I am sorry for loss Loki was an angel on earth Loki by name Loki by nature the god of mischief he certainly had a cute personality he will be sadly missed .😢
I can remember seeing a post of Tanja and Loki, shortly after you announced that you bought him. It felt mesmerizing to look at you two - the whole picture practically screamed "joy". I even showed it to my mother, with the words: "Look how he makes her smile, I hope he can remind her of all the happiness that can be found in this world again." To hear that he got taken away from you so violently was such a shock and my heart is still aching for you guys. I wish you all the best, from the bottom of my heart. May you always be able to find the light in life.🙏🏼♡

"Death is the price we pay for love" Right now, I clung myself too this saying. At my barn, we lost 7 horses in 4 months, due to an epidemic. Including my horse. For those who never lost an animal, a close one, it's like losing your best friend. They are several phases in grieving, everyone grieves differently, but right now, I'm in denial. She left 4 days ago. I cannot process the fact that I'll never see her again (or maybe in heaven...). I'm so sorry for your loss. Loki seemed like an amazing horse, with an enormous heart. Try to remember all the good times you spent with him, and that he is happier now. I realised that grieving, we are not crying for the deceased, but for us, and all the things we miss about them. Stay strong, we are all behind you...Good luck with everything Tanja and Bettina. You are kinda like my idols, so inspirational... Let's just hope all our horses are happy, in good health, and waiting for us !

My sincere condolences to you too. I have loved horses since childhood, but I could never afford one. So at least I had dogs. After the death of my last love dog to cancer, I don't want another one.

I still don’t have many words for this tragic heartache. All I can express is the love and deep respect I have for your courage and compassion in letting him go in the quickest, most humane way in such horrible circumstances. Loki was lucky to have experienced - even for such a short time - a more joyful life than most horses could hope for. ❤️

What a sad tragic accident. Poor you. Yes horses can be spooked by things which look strange and tunnels would seem scary dark and enclosed to horses. You care so much for your horses bless you. Your heart is in the right place ❤️🐎🐴
I'm sorry for your loss. You noticed well that there's a counted time for angels on earth while they can help us. My first son was one of them too. Two times he looked at me since He died accidently, after He was called (30years ago) and about 7 weeks ago on the dentist's chair, where my fear drove me crazy again. Angels are good companions, but we can't hold them tide for ever, when their job is done.

Ich teile deinen Schmerz. Ich habe vor drei Wochen meine fünfjährige PRE Stute an einer Kolik verloren. Mein vorheriges Pferd war auch vom Gestüt Sa Sinia. Ich war sehr oft dort, und kenne Lokis Vater Jardinero. Es tut mir unendlich leid für euch.

Ich hab echt geweint, derweil bin ich eigentlich nicht so leicht zu Tränen zu rühren. In diesem Video kommt so unglaublich viel rüber, so viele Energien, wahnsinn. Ich kenne nur wenige Videos von Euch, warum ich auf das hier und das andere Video wo ihr das Unglück und Euch noch einmal reflektiert, gestossen bin, keine Ahnung. Aber was ich weiss, dass Loki die Zeit seines Lebens bei Euch hatte. Manche Dinge kann man nicht erklären, nicht verstehen, man kann nur akzeptieren, ich hoffe, ihr habt das Schlimmste schon bewältigt und erkannt, dass Loki Euch ganz viel hinterlassen hat. Nachträglich noch mein aufrichtiges Mitgefühl
...immer noch geschockt und fassungslos obwohl ich leider selber weiß wie schnell es gehen kann. Da laufen gleich wieder die Tränen. Ich hätte euch so gewünscht dass er bei euch weiß wird...."weise" war er ja schon trotz seines jungen Alters. Viel Kraft

Es tut mir so leid 💔 Erst Makaio und jetzt auch Loki.. Niemand sollte sowas durchmachen müssen, Loki hat das auch nicht verdient. Das ist sicher auch für Don nicht leicht, gerade jetzt müssen wir alle aufeinander aufpassen und uns umeinander kümmern. Das Schicksal kann so ein Arschl*ch sein 😔

Tanja and Bettina, I'm so sorry for your loss! Loki was such a bright light in this world and brought happiness to so many around him, horse and human alike. I'm in shock that you've had to lose both Makaio and Loki so close together. The pain you're feeling must be unbearable. Loki will always be remembered as an angel and savior. He was taken far, far too soon from your lives, but you gave him extraordinary care and love during his time with you. The way he had to leave was terrible, but he saved your life. I'm so sorry that you both are going through this and hope that you can find peace one day and that the hole he left in your hearts finds a way to heal. Much love and my deepest condolences.

Aww!! Lo siento mucho chicas 😔 Loki era un caballo maravilloso y lo sigue siendo. Ahora Makaio ya no está solo y tiene un buen amigo con el que jugar. Se que lo echaréis de menos, y yo también, y todos lo echaremos de menos pero siempre lo rdcordaremos como un héroe. Ese héroe que te salvó la vida💙😔. Gracias a él, vosotras estáis bien. Estoy segura que él os observa des del cielo junto a Makaio. Unos maravillosos caballos que siempre, pase lo que pase estarán con nosotros. I am so sorry for your great losses! I don’t know what happened but from the comments it seems as tho both of these lovely horse angels went to become spirit angels. My deepest sympathy to u for such a tragic loss! The videos of these incredible horses and u both with them were always very beautiful and touching! I hope u both will be able to eventually heal .

Es tut mir so leid 🤧 Eine Freundschaft zu einem Pferd so aufzubauen, dauert sehr lange und das Vertrauen das es dir dann irgendwann entgegen bringt, ist unbezahlbar. Ihr werdet euch vielleicht irgendwann wieder begegnen, vielleicht in einem anderen Leben. Bis dahin, lebt es weiter in deinen Erinnerungen und die nimmt einem niemand.
Ich hoffe du kannst dein Herz trotzdem irgendwann wieder für ein neues eigens pferd öffnen auch wenn es Zeit braucht. Mit dem du dann bis ins hohe Alter des Pferdes zusammen sein kannst .Würde es dir so von Herzen wünschen. Ganz viel Kraft an euch beide in dieser schweren Zeit...🥰😪
I don't know Loki but in these images I felt all the wonderful sensations he gave to all of you. Forgive me if my English is not perfect, I am Italian,.....
