Adapted by Simon Rich from his 2013 New Yorker novella Sell Out, An American Pickle stars Seth Rogen as Herschel Greenbaum, a struggling laborer who immigrates to America in 1919 with dreams of building a better life for his beloved family. One day, while working at his factory job, he falls into a vat of pickles and is brined for 100 years. The brine preserves him perfectly and when he emerges in present day Brooklyn, he finds that he hasn’t aged a day. But when he seeks out his family, he is troubled to learn that his only surviving relative is his great-grandson Ben Greenbaum (also played by Rogen), a mild-mannered computer coder whom Herschel can’t even begin to understand.

This is one of the best Seth Rogan movies of all time. He really shows his diversity and talent. Seth is definitely honing his skills. 12/10

I would absolutely love to see a full feature film with just that old time period, with that aspect ratio it looked really interesting.

This was a good movie, hilarious, amusing and somewhat heart warming.
I don't know who came up with such a plot but I'm eager to watch it

@@stephenhickey5834 Unfortunately, there's a VERY good chance that WB will just use the 2011 WB logo with WarnerMedia byline, complete with Casablanca's As Time Goes By music.
I have bbq ribs on a Friday night, with a few beers. My wife thinks chicken wings are better than ribs. I was wondering if I should do wings now instead or possibly something different, spring rolls for example? Wings are OK I suppose but I find the slow cooking of the ribs a relaxing process.

Running out of ideas!? Those plots have been around for an actual century. Ever heard of the "fish out of water" plot? How is Encino Man from 1992 any different? Here you have polish guy out of pickle water instead of caveman out of ice, but it's same core concept, all you need is some details, a decent lead and you do the work. You have a movie.

Movie for stoners
This looks terrible. Seth Rogan was pushed into a bunch of movies to make you like him but he had no talent. It shows now, he’s washed up.

Totally inappropriate image of nowadays Eastern Europe. To show that these days NYC is modern but Eastern Europe looks like it did 70 years ago is inaccurate and frankly, pathetic. What a primitive biased movie!
