what a crying shame that we lost that man. minds like that arent too common. would have been incredible to see where he could have gotten too in the current day and age.
I remember this was covered on Discovery, it was very impressive engineering, shame he’s gone
Imagine if this legend and John Britten got together to make a bike! 😮 They would have probably won everything!
I am an American, and I did not know about any of this! Thank you for sharing this!

Kevin Cameron covered this project in "Cycle World" after "Cycle" was closed down. Worth searching a copy.
Just wanted to say I've been subscribed for about 8 years now, way before we even heard your voice! I hope you continued success in the future
fantastic work, I had no idea this configuration made it this far.
A brilliant mind closed off and taken way too soon.

The same thing happened with John Britten. Two visionaries lost to cancer at a relatively young age.
The reasons why the timing was off for that motorcycle. Was mainly because of the big three manufacturers teams at the time. Yamaha, Honda and Kawasaki. Ruled that sport at the time which is also why they up the manufacturers count to 1000. They wanted to eliminate all the small fry and keep the accolades and future sales to themselves and use the racing as advertising….. just like what they do in racing today. Same old, same old. Have to say though, man that engine is incredible. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Yet another engine layout I wish would've seen more widespread use. That is a fascinating design!
As a Polish-American, I always love to see people with Polish heritage doing big things in the world. Jesteśmy z ciebie dumni, Michael! 🇵🇱❤🏍
Dam that was one hell of a story, I wish you made it longer. I love the idea of someone with no degrees at all could put together such a weapon and upset the bigger companies.
I share the sentiment of other people here-what a shame this never came to fruition. I had a chance to meet Michael at Laguna Seca once. He was a super nice and down to earth guy. He is sorely missed. Definitely USA's only real shot at competing in MotoGP with an American bike.
I'd put it in my Japanese KEI truck.😂 Sounds awesome 😎
Machinist here, Titanium is VERY difficult to work with at least with my experience.

I've turned Titanium once, and it was a major pain in the butt until I switched to one of the polished positive rake inserts I had for aluminium. Then it wasn't too awful.
Kiedyś oglądałem dokumenty na Discovery właśnie o MotoCzysz. To był ciekawy dokument.
I am sure he and Britten are now together making awesome bikes, wherever they are in
I met Michael Czysz at the IMS show in Seattle in 2004. I really hoped he would succeed in putting an American made bike on the MotoGP grid, and it's a shame he did not before he died. I joked with him that If I ever won the lottery, I would gladly invest in his company, but sadly neither happened.
What an amazing machine beautyfully designed and crafted! 👍
What a cool engine design.
Oh that gust of wind at 6:12
Impressive story. Thank you.
What a design, so out of the normal. Thanks! 👍💪✌
Can you look into the Kiwi - John Britten and his motorcycle
Thanks again
I still have the magazines this bike was featured in. Much like John Britten, Czysz thought outside the box. What an awesome sounding engine!
That thing sounds absolutely amazing 😍
I'm a motorbike freak but didn't know anything about this engine. Great video 🙂
I remembered watching a movie called Charge that is based his creation of the American electric bike I didn't know that he passed away from a rare cancer. At least he made his mark on Isle of man track by proven a point
I'd love to know how he planned on cooling that engine anywhere other than a track. What's good in a race isn't always good on the road; transverse engines are easier to cool with airflow and a radiator not entirely hidden behind the front wheel, and the gyroscopic effects of the crankshaft make it easier to stay upright when some dumbass is keeping you at around the speed the gyroscopic effects of the wheels stops keeping you upright/
Gud vid 💯💥
Is there anywhere that you can see a c1 ?
What a genius he was
Very interesting
❤
Cool guy with cool bike
The rules were changed after Michael started, nearing completion....
Crazy engine, I wonder what the reliability of it was.

I'd watch that. Those are neat little engines with a huge community around them in some parts of the world it seems

@@goosenotmaverick1156 man it is quite durable and tuneable. Like it got a reduced friction bore and other strong parts that were designed to be tuneable and robust ?

I would like to swap a 4jj in My S-10. Any ideas on where to find one in the states?
@goosenotmaverick1156
Ай бұрын
@@randallmason9687 probably touch base if you can, with the KZread channel Teeth and Turbos, a guy named Parker Mitchell, if you haven't seen him already. I assume you have though? Lol It would be harder to believe you hadn't already seen him, if you're interested in 4JJ swapping. He has one stateside, he may be able to out you in contact with the right people.
MotoGP, just like F1, was and probably still is, stifling innovation, in favor of keeping a flat playing field for the big 3 in the game (Honda, Yamaha, and Kawasaki). All three want to keep their positions in the sport, so they make the entry rules like unobtainium for smaller manufacturers. It's a damn shame when you have something like this that would possibly break the mold for ultra performance GP bikes, and it never makes it beyond the R&D stage.😝
Counter rotating cranks don't have a gyroscopic effect.

VW vr6 techish
This is a very cool engine. If the VW VR6 engine used this head design it would have been a much better engine.

i imagine a lot of engines that ever suffered some sort of regular head gasket failure could really be better with a solid one part head-cylinder....
@darylmorse
Ай бұрын
@@smiththers2 Yes, but I don't think that aspect of the design would be practical for most types of engines. I was thinking of the single intake cam and dual exhaust cams, which allowed the intake and exhaust ports to be the same length. The uneven port length of the VR engines was not the greatest for performance or cooling.
America making any v engine sounds like American muscle .... call it americaning the engine . Interesting sound

Yeah yeah yeah... Tell me you didn't pause at @6:14
Almost seems like a conspiracy that clapped down to stop this bike from competing. Then the nail in the coffin with his diagnosis. Gone far too soon.
Ésto no va a revolucionar nada, simplemente por ser más complejo e incrementar fricciones buscando mejorar la dinámica de fluidos y la termodinámica. El intento es loable pero no le veo futuro.
First like and first comment 0:21
The engine was the product of Cosworth engineering.
MotoGP wouldn't want this motor. MotoGP is big business, they care about their business interests. Interesting engine however.

That's why Rossi got away with his bulling tactics, Rossi a bully on and off the track., ask Stoner, Gibanou, Biagi, etc he Rossi was a showman nothing more. If you compare his wins to Stoner in the same timeframe Stoner won more races, if you don't believe me look up the statistics. John Britten was a New Zealander and he built his engine in his Kitchen. There is a documentary on KZread look it up. So Was Bert Munro "worlds fastest Indian" he was a New Zealander also.
Here’s hope his ideas can be used by someone else.
Elon Musk should have invested in real technology like this.
