It was nice to see the team all chipping in together and each person contributed their own answers. I do think Darragh was right though, they did feel like they were better players than a target of 18 (completely compliment there by the way). Had they accepted the mispronunciation ‘Gazpachio’ as opposed to ‘Gazpacho’, that’s already a 19 before actually knowing anything else. They may not have got as many pushbacks as they hoped, but they got them at the right moment, because when it’s down to the last 40 or 30 seconds, a single pushback puts the chaser on the back foot and then they have to go fast AS WELL AS not making mistakes.

It doesn’t help when Bradley mispronounces Illawarra. The region is just south of Sydney, but it took me a while because Bradley did not say it properly.

Daragh probably saw 18 and went easy on them. Then rushed and made mistakes.

In Darragh’s defence, that’s quite a regional question. The rhyming pronunciation only really works in a Northern accent, if you’re further down south in England, you’re more likely to just pronounce the ‘o’ on the end as an ‘o’. That’s why a team is more likely to get that sort of question right, because the team has 4 people from different parts of the UK so chances are it actually works for one of them!
