The idea itself is great. If it had a replaceable battery, I would have already ordered it... But it has a built-in one. They must limit their greed for money and reach out to the customer - then they will have money.

Awesome review as usual mate 👍 As far as i understood, the reason for the built-in was so they could have a smaller size body with a bigger capacity battery ... I think the concept of mixing flood and spot in the same light has a lot of potential , Nitecore is one of the few brands that seem to actually pay attention to customer feedback , so maybe they'll come up with a new version with a replaceable battery eh !

Excellent review.👍. Agree that the one major downside, is the built in battery. Not a fan of those. But as you've said, its utility would depend on the intended use, say, EDC vs. Camping.

It's such a rational features compact into one that i think will come up in future lights. The battery issue. I Vaped for a while and companies that made mods with batteries that could not be switched were usually selling lot's of mods. But the enthusiasts vaper always complained about it. But most of those mods are done today. But the casual consumer does not care, i think. They think it's a less hassle to just have to put a c-type in and charge. But i'm getting a edc-35, on it's way. That looks like it could give me juice for at least 24 hours with the built in 6000 mAh. But thanks for the review.

Speaking from the perspective of someone who owns several 4000 lumen flashlights they are definitely not meant to be run on max output all the time. They get hot very quickly and I've drained the battery by impressing my friends with that crazy 4000 lumen turbo lol.

The new LED is interesting as it seems to have two separate power channels - for the central and outer LEDs. I wish it was more balanced towards the floow on the lower modes, and had less green tint. Otherwise the light is great. Love the tactical modes, my main use is for dealing with aggressive dogs (stray or just unleashed). Most people misunderstand the use of tactical modes. You don't blast the light at your targed for long; you hit them for a second or two and this buys you a few more seconds to extract yourself from the situation, that's it. Search mode is (obviously) quite useful outdoors to look at things far away - also rarely used by me for longer then 5 seconds at a time.

I thought the built-in battery would bother me, but I ordered one anyway. Turns out that it doesn’t bother me much at all. The light fulfils what I want for an edc light. Yes, when I know I’m going to be hiking, camping or out for an extended period, I take other, larger lights with replaceable batteries. So is it perfect? No. But it’s pretty close.

its already out. i got mine last week. the turbo modes only run about 10 seconds, im surprised the edc33 is 20 seconds but its also not as much light. i mostly use the mid modes and when comparing it to my p23i it has more light in the spill area. the 1300 lumen high turns on the extra leds so a ton on light in the spill area in that mode. if i needed the 3k lumen for longer periods i would use the p23i but ive always used that mode briefly anyways.

Alot of flashlight makers are going to non removable batteries. I dont like non removable or proprietery batteries that can be removed. If they stop making them or change them so that they are different you are also screwed. I have the edc27 and love it but battery isnt replaceable. At some point it will be a paper weight. @@ChrispyThings it does get hot on turbo but turbo dosent stay on unless you hold it. Then it drops down to to almost as many lumens as the arkfield when its on turbo. I think arkfield turbo is 1200 or 1300 and high on the edc27 is 1000 and turbo is 3000 so there is a big differance in the outputs. I dont use turbo often and I dont need uv light or a pointer.

Companies who make products with built-in batteries (with some necessary exceptions) are asking for a lawsuit. Too much E-waste. Not only that but I don't accept the fact that a $300 investment (TM20K for example) could get written off by a faulty $20 battery.

@@ChrispyThingsA number of manufacturers do this. Nitecore is already exaggerating... They will have the opposite effect and they will not make any money. 5 lumen moonlight mode and a built-in battery are both dealbreakers for me 😕 And I don't like that pocket clip. All flashlights should have a 2 way pocket clip! Not only because you can carry it in 2 ways, but because I always use my thumb and index finger to lift up the pocket clip before I put it in my pocket. Those thin pocket clips just digs into your fingers and kinda hurt.
