An Afternoon In Belfast City.
Фильм және анимация
Video consists of lots of GV's from Belfast city centre on Saturday afternoon 12th November 2011, giving others a chance to see what the city looks like now compared to "The Troubles". However if this had been set a week earlier you would have seen Belfast at its busiest as MTV Europe hosted their EMA's live from the city and lots of music celebs were in town. As it is, this is just a typical Saturday afternoon in Belfast.

As a young boy, in the fifties and sixties, I have vivid memories of going with my mother along the Newtownards road to the City Hall on winter days. The sparking of the trolley bus power cables in the winter gloom and the wonder at the grandeur of the City Hall. The green covered mountains visible in the distance, always gave a reassuring view of the beauty of nature.

Same here. I used to visit it with my mum in the 50s and 60s , we lived out in the country about 40 miles away so a visit to Belfast was quite an occasion. I remember the trolley buses too and I thought the City Hall looked like a palace!
I love Belfast.I went to college there many years ago.I missed not living there for a long time. Its a great city.More so now that it's more peaceful. Please keep it that way.

2011 seems to have been so recently, all the sights are so familiar and I remember everything well, shocking to think this was ten years ago now.
Any Belfast people watch these and try to recognise people? You always bump into somebody in the town, especially when your in a hurry. 😉

Belfast, a wee bit more in here...
Nice video
A question....at 2:20 of this video is Dunnes store. There is kind of a market place, with a fountain right behind it. Does anybody on here know what that area is called? Is there a name for it or is it just "downtown Belfast"? Thanks!!

Dunne's store used to be Woolworth's for many years. The corner of the store and its pedestrian area run from the High Street into the "square" known generally as "The Cornmarket," but is properly known as Arthur Square. If you walk from Dunne's into the Cornmarket and turn left, you're into Ann Street; or if you walk straight on, it will take you into Victoria Mall/Victoria Square. If you take what appears to be the parallel road (to the right), it will lead you to the City Hall, and if you instead take the road directly right, it will lead you into Donegall Place in front of the City Hall. The Cornmarket is a good central point that will lead you to all of the City's most popular areas. The easiest way for you to find the answer to your question is to look at an online map!!!

No he drove off when the first lockdown happened in 2020.
Then the trees were bare and the Christmas lights are up? Then back to full trees again.Strange?
The trees are still very full for November.Plus some people are sleeveless and no coats on some. Its Belfast?

Satish Naik It can be cold and espically wet during the winter but nothing that a big coat and an umbrella can't deal with but you know what , the welcome is always really warm all year round!!

The city is not as good as it used to be. I miss having about 7 Record Shops to choose from, now just down to one for f**ksake. Too many good Stores/variety lost, or gone. I am bored. It's only really 'buzzing' because of Game of Thrones, or Titanic. 😑
