Rabies- once the symptoms show up, everything’s already too late. Always, always consult an ER immediately if your are bitten or even SCRATCHED by an animal, especially if the animal is not vaccinated by anti-rabies or wild.

Not necessarily “wild or not.” We have cats who live indoors 24/7 and have the rabies vaccine. We never go to the hospital when we are scratched by our cats. They usually scratch us on accident if they are startled or playing too roughly. But I always clean the scratches immediately, regardless. But I have never been concerned about rabies for my non feral cats who are vaccinated. Now, wild, yes. Or, animals who live indoors and outdoors, absolutely.

If you do need to remove a wild animal... Call a professional! And if you get bitten by ANY animal you dont own (like you know your dog has had a rabies vaccine but you don't know if a neighbors dog had) IMMEDIATELY and I stress IMMEDIATELY go get medical attention for prophylaxis. Rabies is 100% fatal (besides this ONE case). God has given scientists the divine inspiration to create these treatments. Same with tetanus shots after getting poked by something rusty or dirty. tetanus is deadly and miserable. Use the help God has sent down to save us from the pain of these diseases. God forbid you get poked by a dirty needle or get sexually assaulted, but those have prophylactic treatments too to prevent illnesses such as HIV and hepatitis. So PLEASE trust in gods gifts to humanity through medical science and seek medical attention.

@@ladennayoung2939 it is disappointing that you choose not to feel that way. You’re probably one of those people that thanks God and not the doctors, nurses etc for saving yours or a loved one’s life. These people go to medical school or training for years and work very hard and tirelessly to save lives and help people. God may be guiding them or something, but they still should be thanked for their hard work.

I was bit by a bat while fighting to get it outta my granddaughters bedroom. I thought nothing of it till a couple days later the bite area had turned red and inflamed. Had it checked by my doctor. CDC told him to give me the shots so I didn't get rabies if the bat was rabid. After receiving the 1st round of shots in the ER, quickly found to be allergic. They had then requested shots outta state that were more used yrs ago to see if that would work. The meds got to Maine the very next day. Got those series of shots and so happy I did. The bat and others in our building(attic) were rabid. 85% of them. It's been a few yrs but kept all my ER paperwork and the pics of the bat of him flying around her room then of him after we got him.
