An absolute LEGEND! Trueshan gets back to winning ways in the Coral Marathon ❤️

Trueshan served notice that he can still be a force in major staying events by stamping his class on the Coral Marathon at Sandown Park.
Alan King’s popular veteran has been a regular performer in all the top long-distance races over the past five years, winning a whole host of prestigious prizes - including a Goodwood Cup, a Doncaster Cup, two editions of the Prix du Cadran and three successive renewals of the Long Distance Cup.
And while the eight-year-old was beaten on his first two starts of the current campaign and missed the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot for the fourth season running due to unsuitable ground, he made the most of an ease in class with an emphatic display in Esher under his regular pilot Hollie Doyle.
After travelling with his usual zest for much of the two-mile Listed contest, 11-8 favourite Trueshan moved to the lead halfway up the home straight and the result was never really in doubt thereafter, with Night Sparkle getting closest but still beaten comfortably by two lengths.
Paddy Power reacted to the victory by cutting Trueshan’s Goodwood Cup odds to 14-1 from 25-1, but as usual, all future plans for King’s stable star will be ground and weather dependent.

Multiple group 1 winner vs class 1 field on level weights. I'd have been gutted had Trueshan not won today, excellent horse.
Hollie you are a tremendous jockey well done and all the best for the future .
Hollie has some plum rides in France over the weekend. She's an excellent jockey with intelligence and a fantastic personality. There are quite a number of very good female jockeys riding at present.

Too much exposed form for a handicap mate, plus lacks a bit of turn of foot. Yeats and other Gold Cup winners have been well beaten in the Melbourne Cup for those reasons.

@@imjustme110 yes you are correct. The overseas horses haven't done too well recently. It's a lot to expect to go to Australia without a run and expect to win. Look what happened last year. I think they need to have a race first Before getting into the cup. It's a long way to send a horse at a big expense. Not sure if the club pays for that.. Makes a good discussion. I wouldn't be surprised if Sam and His dad pull off another this year.

@@samohanian9339 Last year's winner was an Irish horse bought by Australian interests. It's something that has been happening for some time. Our Derby winners often win on brilliance and rarely fair well in the Cup because they are weighted as a Group 1 winner. Much better to buy something that is like a close up 4th in the Epsom Derby or St Leger, or a Euro Group 2/3 winner. They get much less weight than our Derby winners or distance Group 1 performed horses. As far as the expense of travelling, at least they are travelling for $5 million. Australian horses cop it for not travelling to Europe to compete in $1 million dollar races when they have multiple $5 million dollar races on at the same time back home. The Euro fans seem to scratch their heads about that. Horse have won the Cup with and without a run here before. Races like the Prix Kergolay and Irish St Leger are common Euro fitness runs for a Cup tilt preparation.

Terrible race but the winner has always been very very classy, big strong galloping tank of a horse, great to see him win.
So ground dependent which is his only downfall On that ground he will beat kyprios no worries about that
