Your first tournament match story reminds me of my first tournament match as well. It wasn't on stream, but I remember sitting down to play Project M at a Buffalo Wild Wings party room with 30 people max, and the guy that sits next to me asks "You play this much?" I'm 14 at the time and thought I was decent at Smash so I was like "Ya but this is my first tournament so I'm really not sure haha," and he says "Oh I'm sorry. Don't worry about this match I kinda play this game a lot." Little did I know I was about to get 2-0wned by Aero, one of the highest ranked Project M players in SoCal at the time. He told me that I really wasn't that bad so I should keep at it. Almost 10 years later, I still carry some the spark I felt back then and it drives me to learn more fighting games and keep getting better. I don't really have an epic come back story or anything, but I think that if Aero shit talked me the way FChamp did to you, I probably wouldn't have come back and I respect the hell out of you showing him what's good after all that. It's just def important for top players to remember that positivity will keep their games alive much better than "Good guy vs bad guy" tournament narratives

I will always be amused by the stories of Fchamp playing the villain against yourself and many other's, but we honestly need more positivity than negativity in the community. Some people either have a spite, or a drive, or something else that can let them bounce back, but there are other's who would rather just give up. That doesn't make them any lesser of a person or anything, but it's sad either way. But when you're just having fun with someone, close friend or not, who's encouraging and complimenting you, that's almost always gonna be motivating and it makes you want to get better just so you can keep having fun. Whether you're a competitive player going to Evo for the latest game or a Casual Player in some old online lobby with only like 10 guys, we're all ultimately just here to have fun and keep getting better.

god what an amazing story! i remember watching these matches back right after the tourney but never would have the thought the lore would run so deep--you're right that it's really some anime shit lol. my first fg tournament match i was lucky enough to play against a friend and in general the people i met and talked to at my local were very supportive even tho i was horrible. if i had had the experience you had at evo i know for a fact i would not have come back but the fact you even went out to evo for your first match also shows how excited you were about fighting games. it's awesome you stuck it out and got such sweet revenge

Honestly what a fantastic story. I've played many FGs (you can see I've been playing guilty gear axl for over 7 years in multiple games thru my vids) yet I've never touched MvC until recently; and I really wanted to learn Wright and found some highlight clips to learn of this insane story arc... then to learn about how emotion filled it was. This story actually needs to be immortalised for eons to come it's actually just so.. amazing that everything fell together so nicely! I gotta say, even I (who I admit am a pretty vindictive person) decided to get better at fighting games purely motivated by spite, albeit not nearly as much of a dramatic level as this one; I merely got bodied a few too many times at friends places who wouldn't/refuses to teach you how to play. So instead I started up my Dolphin Emulator (since I didnt even have a Wii) and labbed Brawl/ProjectM like crazy whilst reading up every single smashboards tech in 8-9th grade (information was way more sparse back then hahaha). Lo and behold, I end up joining local university tournaments, make top8 a few times at a young age, then pivot to 2D fighters (MKX was my first then into anime) and now I'm such a well known FG guru amongst my small city/friendship circle that no one dares play with me =(. I even started playing and learning League like crazy out of spite too; since some friends had made fun of me for many years that I was only good at games that "nobody plays" so I had to go out to prove that I could be very competitive even in a tier1 esport hahahaha So seriously bro, I love hearing this story despite having never played this game til 2023 (lol). I personally would've gloated WAY harder about the wins, so great to see you're still the better man :D

God damn this is inspiring. the last few moments of this video especially. If i could share a similar story, though not quite in this vein... me and a friend who might show up sometime, or not, who knows... used to play MvC1 and similar alllll the time. we're looking to do that _still_. Anyway, when we used to play, we used to say all kinds of rude shit to eachother. Then we mellowed out, played less due to irl factors. Then we started playing another game (can't remember which but im pretty sure it was something similar to third strike) and we had so much fun. 12 and Akuma were being used, we had just found out 12's crouchcrawl could dodge a fireball and we had lost our shit. soon after, we kept playing and we humbled eachother. THE VERY NEXT DAY, he gifted me KOFXV. Just because i had mentioned wanting to try some good kof sometime (we had also done one of the kofs on fightcade), and it's apparently becoming cross-platform soon. I haven't labbed it too much now, but I might get into it just because of this video. keep doing the shit you're doing everyone. never back down, and who knows, maybe the character you like playing so much that everyone thinks is *so bad* can make it! Or maybe you can see some stupid things happen on-screen and have a good laugh. Be cool. Be thoughtful. aaand i just realized i typed a whole essays worth of a comment but tl;dr: your videos might encourage me to pick up a fightstick and start labbing like crazy again. Thank you for the shit you do, keep being cool.

10:17 "I beat his ass...with a team that should never win." Just in case you think that statement isn't true, think of this. Tampa Never Sleeps does ratio tournaments, where characters are assigned a point value on cohesiveness and amount of time selected to prevent super teams. The team you pick can't have more than 10 points combined. Iheartjustice's NORMAL team (Cap America, Dr. Strange, Phoenix Wright) IS WORTH 9 POINTS. It's insane that he's taking down power teams with his team and I love it. Also IHJ, please enter TNS's ratio tournaments and beat everyone's ass, just so people can see just how good your execution is when you aren't facing a cavalcade of Vergil/Doom/Zero/Morrigan/Dante BS.

Not just in a different world it probably have made you stop playing fgs, but in another different world you probably would have decked him. That's another aspect about why its important to keep a positive environment and do shit-talk in good faith. If Fchamp would've done something like that in the fgs scenes I was apart of, which was alot of hood n**gas, some really intimidating fellas and a few crazy characters, that shit would not have flown. Fchamp would have been knocked out or put in the hospital, no joke. And that's for me is the most important thing of why you shouldn't mess with strangers or ppl you dont know. Doesn't matter how small, scrawny, soft spoken, quiet or whatever, you dont know what ppl are capable of. It just takes one bad day. It always amazes me how ppl can just do that to someone they dont know, not only is it dangerous but like you said he could've uninspired you and ruined a really amazing and inspiring Phoenix Wright player. Just hearing this story is giving me flashbacks of when I use to play Marvel 2 at UPRM in Puerto Rico, or Marvel 3 at 8 on The Break NJ and the Marvel 3 set up we had at a Target breakroom. Shit was crazy, you had salty af homies taking shit too far and ppl having to hold back fights. Man at UPRM specifically I remember this one nerdy looking kid who this one tall dude kept talking shit too, kid went to his car and got a fucking swiss knife and we had to calm him down, and that kinda ghetto environment is wild because you legit had ppl laughing while trying to diffuse the situation. At the time it was all cool, and made for "great" stories with coworkers and friends but as an adult now I'm just like bro, nah fuck that, not cool. Now I make sure I respect everyone and anyone that I'm with also shares that mentality.

a fantastic read right here fam. You nailed it completely, we really just don't know people's walks of life and can't just be out here throwing out that negativity. We play video games for god's sake, if we can't be a safe haven for fun and no judgement idk where else we can have it.

@@IHeartJustice Also want to use this moment to say, that I have been absolutely loving your content lately. Always known about you, heck I saw that very match live with both and Noel and Fchamp, saw you constantly on YT at the weeklies and shit with Team Spooky and Curleh Mustaches. And to see how far you've come man, it really means something. You have a really strong knack for storytelling, I mean the first time I clicked on a video from your channel, I did it with the intention of just watching real quick and just getting my answer, but found myself not being able to tune away and that is a testament to something. Now I look forward to your content. Keeping doing you and never change, thank you for the sick content.

My first competitive tournament was for Smash Ultimate - the eUnlimited Byte Tournament over in Alaska back in 2019 - and being the only one who actually brought Joy-Cons to the tournament, I actually made it pretty far. 33rd place, in fact (I only used Mario & Dedede, two of my secondaries also)! For my first opponent, I couldn't remember his player name, but I managed to come out on top. I had a real fun time playing against him too. My planned second opponent just so happened to drop out, so I won by default. That meant I made it to the winners third round, where I faced a friend of mine from high school, that being Sean... and this is when the commentators finally noticed I was the only one who brought Joy-Cons. It was definitely a surprise to them for sure. XD I lost to Sean & his PAC-Man, which meant I was now in Losers Round 3, but I had fun. And as it turns out, the last opponent I faced there was none other than *_Jerd, the best Smash Ultimate player in the Anchorage area._* Before losing to Ishimi (who was then known as Codex) and his Robin in that same tournament, anyway. And to say I lost was a huge understatement, because Jerd's Wolf *_DESTROYED ME._* He didn't even bother switching to Fox or Mario! But despite me losing to someone who was an actual pro... I was very honored to have lost to him, because he gave me that reality check that the fighting game community is known for giving at times. Despite me making it so far in my first tournament *_JUST USING JOY-CONS,_* I was still only a nobody in the competitive scene. And I'm actually thankful that I took as long of a break from competitive Smash as I did, due to all the fiascos that happened and all. I may be down in Florida now and may have moved on from Alaska, but I haven't forgotten the memories I made there - especially facing off against Jerd in that uphill battle. He is my motivation going into CEO this year, and I'll have those memories of Jerd & his Wolf *_ENGRAVED_* in the back of my head, just like you had those memories of FChamp talking shit towards you when you were younger back when you faced him in Winners Finals. Excellent story, and keep up the amazing content.

One of the reasons FChump is sudo Banned for his shit talk, I dont think its fair tho but.... it effected him in his fgc future. Same thing happend with Nico, he beat Nico in the first to 15 and lost in the finals with his L second place. This is actually a really nice story, am sorry for getting talk shit by him, its horrible. Talking shit to a NEW COMER is never good, u lose a potentional new person to play and ur just kicking a new person and thats a thing u dont and should not do. I play Yugioh and some ppl are new and they play a person with a top deck and lose and are ass holes to the new comer, clearly that person will not wanna play again. I played new comers, help em, make replays, advices, read the card etc.... Always help new comers and make em feel welcom imo. U got a good metality on getting new ppl in the game. I will give u a sub, U seem such a nice person over all, I know u cus Lee tbh lol. But u seem a wonderful person imo in ur channel and vids, I can get to know u more. c:

FChamp isn’t a good person as far as the FGC goes. First it was the drama with KBR and then this comes to light. He’s a good player, but unless your his friend he’ll talk out his ass to piss people off. I’m glad he’s not involved in SF6. Best friendly fire player in the past 10 years was Marn. He’d troll all the way up to the first button being pressed and continue to do so after the last button is hit. But it’s lovable
