great for traction, bad for unsprung mass, bit cumbersome for brakes, has to be really compact package. Ideal if cost is a minor issue.

@@mrkeopele of course. But in practical terms, fitting the hub in the wheel and the brakes, takes some space and has high cost. And it's a shit ton of unsprung mass. I didn't say it wasn't the best. Just that it has some drawbacks.

@@mrkeopele one less powerfull motors, is probably best for the planet. Saves 3 motors and planetary gearboxes in the hubs. two motors and one planetary gearbox should be the most efficient drivetrain in the world. But we're talking about a high performance race car, that in mind efficiency looses to easy torque vectoring in 4 wheels.
