This short concert was Amy's first concert in the Netherlands, just one month prior to her performance at the North Sea Jazz Festival on July 7, 2004. It took place at the Rotterdam Import Festival, June 19, 2004.

Amy Jade Winehouse (14 September 1983 - 23 July 2011) was an English singer and songwriter. She was known for her deep, expressive contralto vocals and her eclectic mix of musical genres, including soul, rhythm and blues, reggae and jazz.

There is something catching about this poor recording though: the reactions of the audience witnessing a legend in her early phase. Most of them look uninterested, distracted, talking to each other. I wonder what those people think nowadays.
Absolutely loving these uploads!! I’ve searched for years for the full North Sea Jazz concert, only finding a radio recording years ago and rocking with it ever since… Seeing the full concert uploaded here, raw footage even, AND amazing footage of this performance… I can’t thank you guys enough for taking the effort to edit and upload this, whoever greenlit to upload these archives is a HERO!!!

It is hard to believe that a cameraman creates video recordings like this when an artist as prolific as this young Amy is on stage. So our apologies are genuine. If only he would have kept the camera on her most of the time. Next two Fridays are the last releases 😉 Have a good day 👍😀

@@NorthSeaJazzArchive Don't worry, when it comes to talented singers sound is more important than anything else. Amy was very talented but very little known at this point, so probably she wasn't considered important 😔 and unfortunately people didn't have smartphones as today to capture these unique moments.

@@NorthSeaJazzArchive It's really great and very much appreciated that they were saved and have surfaced at all they're a part of musical history of an amazing artist that could have easily been lost forever.To me it's not just about there here and now but also for future generations to discover. The material at this show and NSJ have been a joy to watch so thank you for releasing them.
