Amy Winehouse unseen & uncut interview 2006

Музыка

Here's the never-before-seen (except by me) full uncut interview I did with Amy on October 31, 2006 - the week Back To Black was released.
As she says in the clip, she'd been at the Q Awards the night before (where she heckled Bono). Our interview was slightly delayed while she had a nap and a pizza to recover.
I love this film because it's how I remember her - warm, funny, charming, slightly sad, messy and brilliant.

What makes you happy? “I feel happy when my boyfriends happy” this shouldn’t have been her first response, if only she learned to love herself first, what a beautiful soul.

This is clearly at the beginning of her success. She is willing to answer any question without judgment. After countless interviews over the next two years, she became sarcastic and defensive. This is Amy as open and vulnerable as she could be. A lovely spirit and incredible talent. Rest in Peace.

This was the day the album was released and she wasn’t with Blake here I think she was dating Alex, and this is possibly one of the most relaxed interviews you can find of her from this era as this is right at the start before she was catapulted into fame , almost eerie to look at this clip as she had no idea what was around the corner - she was still fragile from Cynthia s death and her break up here - a lot could have been saved with the right care in place, she is missed!

Something very special about Amy Winehouse. I normally can't bare to watch any interviews but she seems genuinely happy here. Such a shame she could not be happy without the drink. I think if she could have turned it around in time and was able to have a child she would have thrived, she was desperate to love and to be loved.

2:34 and 07:04 tell me who on earth (not only celebrities, but also normal people in your surrounding) would admit something like that casually? She was just so real... a lot of people only say it, but she actually really didn't care what others though of her. She's just like "Here I am just the way I am, and I don't give a f*** If you don't like it".

In all honesty, I'm quite like that. But the reason why is because it makes your life simpler when you're honest all the time. Whether it's self-depricating or not, if you're straight up then people can't have anything on you because you're being real. I wasn't always like this mind you, I grew up trying to be popular in school and not being myself in order satisfy other people who in hindsight didn't really care and didn't matter anyway. It's a learned attitude on my part, or rather a reversion back to childhood, but whether it was for Amy I don't know.

I wish I could time travel, to save her. As an unknown aspiring empathetic singer from a no name small town, the music that is real and genuine does not come from here often, and the fact that this rare. Once in a life time gifted soul angel from England, I connected with her music and vocals so much, musicians understand one another and we have to stick together, I wouldve stuck there with her, even if was as a fan talking to her for 20 minutes. Amy forever. Her music still dances with my soul so deeply like no one else. She’s a legend for the art she made and how she shifted the music industry and her influence can be seen through generations of music after her. It may be hard to imagine now if you’ve known her music for a long time or weren’t around but her music was so different and called back to a golden era of jazz and fused it with soul, pop, hip hop in a revolutionary way. I think her impact is as big if not even bigger than anyone else in the “27 Club” though all of those artists are legends for a reason. Amy spoke in a way that just cut through the BS and made her immediately lovable without pretense. She didn’t have a filter yet her pure heart just beamed out of her like sunlight. I love her so much and knowing she’s gone makes my heart ache but listening to the music and art she left behind has brought me comfort at so many times of my life over the last decade or more now. When I listen to Amy it feels like I’m with her in a profound sense. It somehow doesn’t get old to me like other music. Her voice hits me right in the chest and even though I’m not a good singer I love trying to sing along and hit all the notes she did while making it seem so effortless though she really was putting her entire heart into it. Amy made a difference.
