Yep. , described as a very lonely person. Then all the Fame further isolated her. Imagine being lonely as a normal person, then shoot to Fame and at that point, everyone is a yes person and wants a piece of you. Poor girl. I think not trusting and not having friends pushed her to drink even more.

He didn’t protect her as he should’ve ! Her mom seemed to not even care this much ! Her granny who truly showed her love and attention did what she could but she was already old and sick and when she died it started to be even harder for Amy. @Cardboardwater nah addiction isn't hard it's only hard for the people that don't care if you really care you stop the only ones I excuse are the ones with mental illness that actually affects the way they think like people who are slow or have the mind of a kid but they're 40yrs old the other people don't care ive been an addict I was addicted to hetoin for 10yrs spending like $700 a week but I would man up and work harder I was a bartender and sever if I wanted to do drugs I got a second job working harder to support my habit and pay the bills and stuff cause even as an addict since I don't have a mental illness but if I ever ended up homeless on the street I would stop the drugs go through bad cold turkey withdrawals and I'll start asking for money and save it up to get clean clothes and Start getting better get a shower dress good and go look for a job that's why I say I only excuse people with mental illness cause healthy minded drug addicts are just lazy people like you're still healthy and young bro if you want drugs then work for it don't just beg but once a drug addict loses their shame they lose faith and everything they for money wherever with no shame a drug addict who really wants to quit they quit with no help and you don't get cravings or think about drugs cause you're done one day I just woke up I was tired of heroin I stopped in 2019 been clean since and no I don't think about it or get cravings and no I didn't need Rehab or help cause my mind was ready to quit and now the $700 I was spending on heroin is money left over I feel more happy n free no if youre 40yrs and a homeless drug addict that means you don't care bro and ofcoursd people says he's a good guy he has a big heart he's so respectful" well how else do you expect for them to act with you they act like that hoping you give then free money if they act bad cops get called and the police might check them and they might have drugs or drug related items thats why they try to be respectful and nice and some start lying about they had everything a house and cars but they lost it all in a flood or crazy stories like that bro start with you would of hadouse some money saved or you would still have your good job or if youre doing that good you'll have friends or family members with houses that will help you out letting you stay at their house thats if it's true what you said about losing everything which I doubt

She was taken advantage of and was used by her husband and father for money making purposes. Thats why her father didn't want her to "waste" time going to rehab. He wanted her to do more shows. People forget how young Amy was. She’s 23 years old here, telling her story of how the record label thought she needed rehab when she was 22. Most 22 years olds go out and drink, get their hearts broken . It’s easy to see why she thought she didn’t need it (at the time). That she thought she wasn’t any different to any other 22 year old. She thought she had it under control . 💔

@Clayton Catlin if you watch the documentary you can clearly see her considering it, but her dad discouraged her from going (because he just wanted to continue exploiting his daughter’s talents) he brought up loads of things that she would miss, including a concert that she was contractually obliged to do (which she didn’t even want to do). People always said that the people she loved most didn’t love her in return. Her dad included. She turned to drugs and alcohol to ease the pain of the life she never wanted (her boyfriend was the one who turned her to drugs in the first place, which again shows how the people she loved were the worst for her). Sorry if this seems rude, I just wanted to add to your comment

Also, her dad was rarely around when she was growing up, and her mum never really told her off for anything, so she grew up never receiving backlash for her actions and doing what she wanted. Though you could argue her death was her own fault, you need to consider how she grew up and the people that surrounded and ‘supported’ her. Again not trying to be rude though.

The night before she died Amy said, "If I could give it all back, and walk down the street with no bother, I would." I think fame was a serious problem for her, it likely exacerbated her personal insecurities in a way she never learned to cope with. So talented, yet so humble, a rare combination in entertainment. Blake, in an interview about his relationship with Amy, described her as "one of the loneliest people he'd ever met." Perhaps that's part of why she took their breakups so hard, without him she literally had no one to hang out with for days or weeks at a time. Such a shame, she seemed like a genuinely loving and caring person. RIP, Amy you & your music are both so incredibly missed.

I lost my world, my 32 y.o. daughter, the morning before Thanksgiving. She called me "daddy" to the end. I never understood her struggle, but knew that every sunrise was a victory. I loved her unconditionally. She was to go to her 4th rehab, this time for at least 9 months. I found her, no, I was led to her from beyond. She's near me now, love doesn't die. I donate to an open door mission in her memory and think of Amy and all who have gone with her. This song hurts, but its special, like all our lost children.

How about acknowledge the talent not her troubles? We all have troubles after all. She was an adult, she made decisions, you are all adults you can make the decision to not like her music, but what's her personal life got to do with you today? People around Amy said that it was easier for her to communicate through music than otherwise. Her tremendous honesty in this song proves it. “It's not just my pride. It's just 'til these tears have dried”. I think this verse shows a lot of who Amy was as an artist and as a person. A powerful woman who had a lot to express because of her unique sensitivity. More than a singer, Amy was a storyteller, each song of Amy is a story and each one has come into my life in the darkest moments. Along with her I have learned to know myself and not feel alone in the process. Yes I've been black, but when I come back, you'll know, know, know.

How stupid we are not to see the obvious suffering of people next to us, so selfish it hurts. Rest easy Amy, you're remembered.

You can't reason with people who are addicts until they figure it out, hopefully that's before they die, didn't happen in this case, it's fucked up but it is what it is.

@@icemule Yes you are correct - you can’t help someone until they want to help themselves. However I think Amy always knew she needed help, but the fame - that she never wanted - got to her so badly, substance abuse etc was her only ‘escape’. As well as her long-term partner also being an addict etc too. It’s so sad and unfortunate that she suffered so much and had the outcome she did, but I believe that the people around her knew she was suffering, they just didn’t care as long as she brought in money for them (managers etc)

@@KatieStephens Ultimately it's her who had to make the choice, if she just said fuck you all I'm getting clean, what could they do.

@@icemule I didn’t mean that they were stopping her from getting help. I meant they only wanted her to make them money so they didn’t really care how as long as she did - so they didn’t care that she was miserable with the fame that she never wanted, which caused the unfortunate downward spiral
