I rode on two excursions that were a lot like this, both in the very early days of new short lines. DME from Rochester to Winona MN and Wisconsin Central from Superior to Ladysmith WI.

The Kentucky Cardinal that used to run between Louisville and Indianapolis ran on some pretty rough ex Conrail track...but they weren't this bad!

The tracks between Chicago and Kansas are the most run down bunch of junk I’ve ever seen. You won’t find me on a train any more. The railroads are so greedy it’s a wonder they have any business.

amtrack is indeed the worst train in th world. each time I do Detroit Chicago it will take 7 to 8 h because there is always a problem, train stuck in midle of no where, ac not working...The trian is vey noisy. they keep honking when passing a city WTF. any other trains in the world do that

That looks like a simulation and not a real train. Also, Amtrak does not own most of the railways. Where I travel the most , almost all tracks are owned by CSX. Never been on that bad of rails.
