It’s Sunday late afternoon, May 26, 2024, aboard the upper level of our Superliner Sightseer lounge car on Amtrak train 3, the Los Angeles Union Station bound Southwest Chief, west of Wyanet, Illinois, on the BNSF Railway Mendota Subdivision.
We pass over and look down on the former Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad mainline, now the Iowa Interstate Railroad.
