It is so spectacular that the communication and ability to help a passenger with a medical emergency is so well coordinated! Kudos to the engineers and attendants !

Beautiful train! Use to ride the trains as a small child. Many, many years ago. My Dad was an engineer on Central Pacfic Railrays before WWII. LOVED riding the train.

It's ok Captain, I share your enthusiasm for trains just as much as you. Most people will never understand. Keep up the great videos & be safe out there.

It was very commendable for such expertise, and humility of this unexpected medical occurrence. The passenger aboard the Amtrak was, administered immediate attention. Amtrak personnel's engineer to the rescue, timely at that! Duration of the current circumstances experienced then. Thank God the matter was taken care of, throughout the delays as such! Smile. I'm definitely elated period, because the other viewer commented on, a bygone era of deep affection, enjoying and admiring the pleasure of, traveling with a parent. As the engineer then, was the father. Who was employed to drive the train. I know it was pleasurable of course. Thanks soo very much for all the photos, past & current. Amtrak itself, is in the winners circle for.sure! I'm almost 75 yrs old, can hardly wait to experience, traveling long distance. Amtrak NYC via Chicago, aboard the Southwest Chief to LA last stop. Superliner Bedroom Suite with all the amenities. 2 bathrooms inside the room. I'm patient though! Smile. lol. KUDOS!! AMTRAK!!

It's soo amazing in this era & century, as such. To have your car to board for travel, along with yourself. What a blessing! Like the CSX rail cars, very consistent on those tracks. Which is shared by Amtrak passenger train cars. Delays is why the departure & arrivals, are stressful to passengers. The freight has to be by rail, the system itself is competitive by all means! Everything is about time & schedule. The same is done by the NYC subway, as well! Local & express tracks are utilized, by certain trains. Especially when that service is needed the most! Rush hour, on peak, & off peak. NYC subway system of the 5 Boroughs, & Counties is the biggest ever! I love the cross sign bell signal, also the ringing of the bell, inside the cab of the engineer. Thank yuuu again Amtrak, love yuuu all endlessly! Smile. KUDOS!! Happy belated Christmas holiday, also the current New Year of, 2023. Hopefully it'll remain reflective and gratifying! Smile.

The emergency stop at Fayetteville is being handled, accordingly as such in regards to a passenger. Who is ill possibly, and the Amtrak.engineer is excellent, in accomodating duration of the issue at hand. Smile. The crew itself is superb, diligent as ever in proceeding the timely guidelines. KUDOS!! Smile. God bless them all, patience is a virtue. Love yuuu sooo much Amtrak peeps! Your pattern of professionalism has stood, the test of time endlessly! I'm elated of these videos period. The railroad system itself of the era, 1950 throughout to this era. Happpy as era, to live this timeliness. Magnificent! Marvelous!

Amtrak 19 had one of these today. As soon as the train reported it, I had flashbacks to this video. It was my first and hopefully last Amtrak medical emergency.

I wish I could be that excited about anything.

I doubt he "went into emergency" - he stopped because of one, but he seems to have braked normally.

I saw a similar thing happen at the Old Orchard Beach station on the Downeaster line. The train made a normal stop, but something happened with one of the passengers on board. They had to haul him out on a stretcher, and the train left about 10 minutes late.

Good catch, my only wish would have been to have kept the Medium Clear indication more prominent as it was knocked down (hold the focus point at 15:12 longer), but that's a minor quibble at best.

AutoTrain runs between Sanford, FL and Lorton VA. They have some pretty neat loading/unloading procedures at both locations. My prayers for the passenger; hope he had a speedy recover!

Just found this. My mother fell and broke her ankle while we were heading south on the Auto Trsin. We were put off in Dunn, MC while our car continued to Florida. The next morning, Amtrak put us on the Silver Meteor and dropped us in DC, got us a cab to Lorton where the car was waiting. Everyone was so kind to us. I’m ready to ride Amtrak in the future .

@@Ohio_Photographer thank you. She died 6 weeks later - no fault of Amtrak. Just wish they would improve the rails- very rough on the return back to Virginia. The Auto Train uses CSX rails- much smoother.

My tripod at the time is one to be used for photography and not videography, but I still managed to make it work. I bought a tripod in 2015 and it's been working for me very well. Commentator is partially correct. Fayetteville is not a scheduled stop. But, it is a FLAG stop. If there are passengers to get off or board there the train will stop there.

You were standing pretty close to a "Live" track when Q438-20 came by. Back off some, son!

Never knew that Amtrak had their own car carriers in their rolling stock.

After riding grayhound several times to Oregon I got the chance to ride Amtrak. Best decision of my life. It was a really enjoyable ride. I'd choose Amtrak over grayhound ANY DAY.

Great catch!, and some rreally great exposure. What camera were you using? One correction though; the train did not go into emergency. That was a normal stop by Amtrak. (It WAS a stop for a medical emergency.)

+jcl410 Thank you! Well, it was an emergency though, and it doesn't stop on it's route, but you're correct on the medical emergency. Thanks for correcting me though :)

Hopefully the guy who was taken to the hospital was ok. I'm sure Amtrak would've taken his car off in Sanford and any other belongings and kept them at the station for a family member to pick up. I would imagine this happens pretty frequently on the Auto Train. A lot of retired people use it to go back and forth from Florida in the winter. I don't think you're allowed to take the Auto Train without a car. The Silver Meteor and Silver Star go to the same place and serve the intermediate stops.

If you find yourself in this situation again, Film the action of the EMS interacting with the train..... That's the subject/reason for the stop. Which is a better reason to report/film the action. Later you can move to the other side of the train to get a better view for when it departments. Other than that, you did a great video.
