Watching AIs going four-wide into the T1 and then all finding their place between the walls it very impressive. My goto sim atm, so much to explore.

I have had more joy playing this game than any other sim racer especially in VR.

This is a now explicitly a career mode away from being the best racing sim of all time for single player.

i reinstalled ams2 the other day after seeing so many rave reviews about the ai in particular after the big update and i planned on giving it a few laps to get a feel for it. i ended up racing against the ai all night! i've barely done any racing for a long time but this has really rekindled my enthusiasm. it's no longer easy just to out brake to gain a position, you really have to fight to overtake and another problem i had was i was so often hit by the ai, particularly on the opening lap- my lack of racing skill didn't help but it didn't do anything for my enjoyment. well that has also improved significantly and now i can trust the ai to allow for my below average skills but at the same time they are far more aggressive when i make an error without being reckless - just perfect i fully agree on everything you said about both the ai and the physics. i've found the cars on ams2 are now exceptionally enjoyable to drive- even in the wet! i was always a raceroom guy but i'm now very much an ams2 guy. it's just a real shame that raceroom just hasn't progressed much at all. now pretty much everything about raceroom just isn't as good as ams2 and it pains me to say that good to see you and chris still making exceptionally good content and i'm looking forward to more ams2 videos

Hal! How lovely to hear from you buddy! Delighted to hear it’s rekindled your enthusiasm on the sim racing front. I confess I’m super excited about having a reliable offline racer to go to. It makes trying the Racing Life mod a very tempting prospect too!

Always good to see some AMS2 content - this latest update has been a big step forward!

Even multiplayer can be fun in ams2 driving the new 92 and 93 f1 car with the new track version is awesome i did some quick 15 lap race with 4x tire wear and fuel wear so we have so pit with a few friend it was a blast

Great video mate. It's very interesting to see where reiza is going to do the A.i, if they keep working at them what's possible. In the modern simracing era the single player experience gets forgotten.

Thank God they’re focusing on offline single player. Not everyone can afford to drive without a pause button.

Looks like you had a great time there Ben! Appears that they have the AI set up pretty darn good there, competitive, won't kill you, and racing against each other too! All that equates to great racing fun, thanks for sharing with us!!!!

I use the spotter in crew chief which is a good addition

I bought this game a few days before the update without even knowing anything about it and now I can't put it down, it might not feel as realistic as RFactor 2 or ACC but it absolutely has 10 times better AI and it's 10 times more immersive and complete than those games, now, they are great on their own and I ain't saying they suck but AMS2 is just honestly such a refreshing take on the genre.

Totally agree .@@Ami_BK I'm not missing iRacing at all. Racing AMS2 online on racecraft online and in a league and I just enjoy it more than the stress fest that iRacing can be. Plus it feels more alive and fun to me than iRacing. I'm sure iRacing is more realistic, but as I will never drive a real car I don't care.

@@Ami_BK Well James Baldwin who raced in GT3 has said that ACC is probably some of the closest feelings you can get to an actual GT3 car, and he's been part of both Esports and the real racing that goes on.

You need triple monitor more than ever after this update. It's so much fun seeing ai fighting next to your all the time.

Never heard of this game until an hour ago, now I want it.

The AI are really improved, still a few issues with them making quick jerking moves to get back on line but compared to previous builds it’s great.

I did this same combo the other night and feel that the RSR is suffering a bit from the new update. The front end used to be much more composed and crisp on initial turn in but now suffers horribly from understeer. That said, the AI is light-years ahead of the prior experience and will definitely keep me coming back for more. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some WR leaderboards to chase. 😅😂

man i just need to bite the bullet and buy this game every video of yours on this game makes it seem so fun

@@larryhaines7109 I'm with you there Larry. I've given a lot of time to iRacing, ACC, online Assetto and Rfactor2, but I've found that ultimately nothing compares to my own tinkering with different car/track combos against AI, plus the sheer time commitment makes online racing a pain for me. The problem offline has always been a lack of competitive racing once you learn where the AI isn't competent at defending, but that problem has been the least visible in AMS2 in my experience. Since this update, every track/car combo I have tried races better than ever with aggressive but fair competition, and I suspect the next few updates are just going to expand that potential further.

I had lost hope for AMS2 if I am honest but the AI in this update are amazing. There still AI so have issues but so far, they seem great on all tracks I have tried. For single player, AMS2 might now become my go to sim. I can put up with the AMS2 driving feel when the AI will race you like they are now. Never been a fan of the physics but it seems a little better than the 1.5 update IMO. For multiplayer it still has a very long way to go to be stable but maybe Reiza can actually improve it next year?

I think we really underestimate reiza being one of the smallest sim dev teams, I think we should admire them for the efforts and actually listening to us fans. 1.5 fixed so many major physics problems, and this update improved on it and made the ai actually raceable. We should look at this game more as a long term investment, if we look at where the game was just a few years ago to now the improvements are amazing so I think it’s worth trusting the team. Pretty sure they said the next thing after flattening out the physics and ai is to work the multiplayer into a more playable experience. Hope you stick around for that because we should have have for the team because it’s more than we can say from other sim devs.

To add, one issue I have noticed is belt and gear driven wheels really don’t translate the physics and ffb well, so it can become a distasteful experience but a dd wheel tends to do the sim better Justice and it feels a lot like or even superior than other sims sometimes.

@@brimzeex4993 For me and I am sure many others, its the bugs that are the biggest problem. Reiza seem focused on adding more and more content without fixing what they already have. The 1.5 update did nothing for me if I am honest, it felt better but it still felt like the old AMS2 (just more connected) where the rest of the game wasn't good (never liked the AI before and we all know about multiplayer) I just simply didn't see the point in playing the game. From the testing I have done, the AI are amazing now. They are affected by a damp track and use different strategy's in longer races. They also race you very well now without being blind to the player. It also seems less noticeable that they use different physics to the player. Before on some corners, they would take impossible lines and speed, just made them bad overall. I play the F1 games mainly for the single player AI. With AMS2 having good AI now I don't see myself playing them anymore. For single player racing, AMS2 is now the best sim I own.

@@TypeRTeg make sure you read through the latest development update - They've added better logging for multiplayer as most of the issues players were having they've been unable to duplicate. They're also doing weekly MP tests on the beta version :)

I concur. The ai in AMS2 is superb. As good as GT7 Sophy, maybe better with the additional configuration options.

Nice to see the ai improved. It’s impressive. I’m still not thrilled about the driving experience and the physics of this sim.

I had issues with the 60's F1 cars at Monaco... I hope that works better.

As someone who is currently struggling with the new Forza Motorsport on PC, this looks like heaven. I am so sick of being penalized whenever an AI driver smashes me from behind or sideswipes me in a braking zone.

AMS2 is light years ahead of ForzaM

How do you get the replay working that the camera is followed your car?

I haven’t seen AI fight like this since GRID for the iPhone/Android. Edit: with each other

id recommend joining racecraft online too, similar system to lfm, just not enough players yet

Amazing...this might finally replace GTR2 as my fav sim of all time. Ai racing is all I do. GTR2 GT cars, dynamic time and weather, huge grids...no sim has done it since GTR2 in the way GTR2 did it. Not even modded Assetto Corsa.

How does this stack up to the rf2 single player ? This seems a bit more consistent

rfactor2 single player can be amazing on some tracks and shocking on other tracks ams2 is more consistent like you said

I've just ordered a Logitech g29 and I'm trying to figure out what games to start with? Never played a racing sim or used a wheel before, so any advice that any of you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Oo congrats on getting a wheel! In terms of titles it really does depend on a few things - if you’re looking to race online I’d recommend ACC or rFactor 2 right now to begin with which have online ranked races and progression. Smaller scale than iracing but a lot less expensive and big a commitment at this point. If you want an accessible offline racer with great graphics and a range of features like wet weather etc I’d recommend AMS 2 for car and track variety or ACC for ease of initial use. Hope that helps!

I think I will try out either ACC or AMS 2 first, as I would like something with a bit of variety while I figure out what I'm doing, and what I like best (and not too expensive). Offline is probably fine to start with as I don't like getting dropped in at the deep end haha. Thanks again!

Hey, there are car and track dlc's like f.e. the nordschleife or GTE's but there are no subscription fees unlike iracing.

Great AI :) Call me lame but one of the only reasons iam still playing Project Cars 2 casually is the structured career it offers. I wonder why there isnt a career in AC2? I like to jump into PC2 after work and let the game throw me into races with cars and tracks that make sense without me fumbling around for minutes...

Has the multi-class AI improved? They were pretty bad at lapping slower cars before.

Soon we will see Codemaster buying It and transform It in a big disaster

As a virtually exclusive single player who role plays, maybe I'm just a supreme hardass, but this seems worse than previous versions. A big grid in boxy GTEs around Long Beach shouldn't feature clean, mistake-free racing. For all the unnatural movements and aggression previously, at least the AI was good for a believable mistake or three in most races, sometimes in spots you'd never expect. Not to mention that AI exists elsewhere in which the Porsche would take a defensive line on the final lap, but then asking for perfection several steps above where AMS2 apparently stands today. Did an AI car ever pass you after the first lap? Because that's another issue that most AI seem to have. Idk, this video showcasing the AI doesn't really do anything but make me fear that it's now closer to sterile ACC or recent iracing than rf2 or rough n tumble Raceroom. It's now just more smooth and professional looking than before.

Major thing lacking in AI now is the blue flag behaviour and positioning on outlaps during qualifying. They're constantly getting in the way during qualifying on their outlaps

Probably best AI in the business (never tried Iracing AI much though). to be honest, the competion is very low in that depart. AI is pretty terrible in 90 percent of all sims.

AI needs alot of work regardless of improvements.

Not enough crashes, completely unrealistic lol

Should see how horrible and useless the AI is in Forza 8 lol

the ia cant overtake another ia if have the room try to pass and in the last 25m brake and drive back to the car in front Look this white porsches the second is faster but cant complete the overtake in 4 laps

F1 2022 cars are horrible to drive post update.
