Sounds like an ideal middle ground between Marshall and Hiwatt, slightly more complex upper mid thing happening and a quirky, raspy British quality overall. Totally unique and iconic voice I'd love to have and treasure!

That Toni Iommi tone was absolutely identical to his early tone, minus a slight bit of fuzz pedal (season to taste), reverb, and his homemade finger tips.

I am totally in love with this series of videos. really amazing work, you make every amp or guitar or pedal sound awesome. I really hope you do a video on the old VOX AC120 from the 70s one of these days. I have one at home and I can't understand why it's not more famous. it's really amazing and makes you wonder why you would ever need a Marshall instead. Sadly mine has been broken for quite some time but I can't forget how amazing it sounded when it still worked. it was my first tube amp and I still haven't played any other amp that I like more.

That was geat. British made Laneys don't get enough attention. I'm biased , though. I've had a British built Laney LH50R 50 watt head for about 20 years and I still absolutely love it. Cranked through a 4x12 with 2 greenbacks and 2x V30s. The clean channel is a little dull but maybe a cap upgrade might solve that?

Pete! These Amps in the Zone videos are some of my favorite things on the internet. If you ever have the chance, I would LOVE to see a comparison roundup of early Dual Rectifiers; there's so much rumor and noise about how they changed from the earliest versions to the Revision F/G amps that really got huge around 1994, and it would be so cool to know if they're actually all that different. Thanks, as ever, for the great stuff (and thanks for introducing me to the Tsakalis Nerve Mk. II, which has become my go-to amp in a box)!

Great sounding amp, and great playing as always! Please do an episode on your Bassman, or better yet a Traynor YBA-1 or a YBA-4. 2 of my all time favourites. They've started getting their due in recent years, but there's honestly a lack of killer demos for a YBA-1 here on youtube. Don't just do it for our home and native land, brother. Do it because the world needs to hear it!

I have one - they are bass amps stock and sounds best that way, guitar tones are good but generally much cleaner, much more bass heavy than average Marshall styles out there. However, once modded for more guitar-centric tones, more distortion from the Phase Invertor, it becomes the perennial sleeper amp, besting Marshall at their own game. Massive Hammond transformers give more dynamic range, immediacy and tightness than Marshall, Laney, etc. Why they have never realeased a HotRodded guitar version as they are so popularly modded to be - that is a huge missed opportunity.
