Ampere's Law & Magnetic Field of a Solenoid - Physics & Electromagnetism
This physics video tutorial provides a basic introduction into ampere's law and explains how to use ampere's law to derive the formula to calculate the magnetic field of a wire and the magnetic field of a solenoid. This video on electromagnetism contains 1 practice problem explaining how to calculate the magnetic field of a solenoid given the electric current and the number of turns in the solenoid.

You're the best. I'm a teacher and I watch your videos to help me simplify the topic for my students.
You're the reason I don't completely fail Ochem or Physics. Thank you so much for all the videos :)
YOU'RE AN AMAZING TEACHER AND HUMAN. I LOVE YOU.
Thank you for how well you teach and simplify things. I'm hours away from writing my physics test and this is super explanatory!
Been thinking a question for an hour, and your vid just answered my confusion in ten minutes!!!! thanks so much!!!!

How about taking a circular loop inside the solenoid? How does ampere's law explains it?(since inclosed current inside is 0 but we know B is not zero)
I am familiar with vector calculus but this kind of stuff is still amazing. Solenoids are a magnific 'exploit', by bending the wire we are shaping the magnetic field to concentrate in the center.
Using the right hand rule of thumb, nice. There is even sigma notation lambda and some other neat ones, sometimes good symbol does it.

Excelent!
So is the magnetic field on the surface of the coil considered the same as the magnetic field inside the coil?
Sir: Thanks a lot for your helpful teaching. With all respect, a solenoid is a coil of wire sometimes containing a metal core. So, my question is, should the coil be always insulated from from the core? even if it doesn't have a metal core?
you're my hero 😍
it just you are the best
8:45 - take this a step further by calculating the force that a 0.26T magnetic field would exert on a spring to open a solenoid valve. What would be needed for this calculation?
This replaces my textbook and in-class powerpoints
God bless you!
Very good. Now my question is: That 0,26 T, equals what force in Newton ? I need to project an electroiman and so, know, how it will be, in terms of N, to LIFT 1 KG ?
you are no 1
This channel is basically a library

How about correlation between diameter of wire, diameter of selenoid & magnetic field? thanks.

Yes, I would love to see this as well.
Sir, you are GOD!☺️
Using the summation rather than the integral makes much more sense... coming from someone who's shaky on calculus still
so what would be the formula to find amp?
if the turns is 20 turns per centimeter it is still need to convert to meters?
Wait.....this wasn't a bob Ross tutorial. Good job sir
you just save me!!!
Isn’t what you calculated Mag. Flux density since it’s in Tesla? Also wouldn't you end up with Tesla/Meter as your final units? Why wouldn't you just use B=uIN, since that would give you the total Tesla within the solenoid.
I did not get the I(en)= NI and you said that if one loop is 10 Amp then 2 loop 20Amp and so on........ but how? 🤔all the loops in series and same current flows in solenoid instead you increase the loops then current will decrease.
Mam sana ap bi aisay samjahaya karay please🙏
Have to be the best human being on the planet
You can derive this formula using biot savart’s law too
If the magnetic strength is always in relation to the number of turns per meter, then it seems like increasing the number of turns of wire would have no effect on the strength of the magnet. Assuming the diameter of the wire is unchanged and it can't be coiled any tighter, then increasing the number of turns will increase the length proportionally and they will cancel out. In your example, N=1,500 and l is 5cm, so n=30,000, but if N doubles to 3,000, then l will also double to 10cm and n is still 30,000 and the magnetic force doesn't change. How can this be right?
@shashvatverma5673
4 жыл бұрын
The strength of the field is to do with density. Even if the solenoid is longer, the density of the turns per coil remaining the same will lead to the same magnetic strength. Id think about how magentic strength is not related to the size of the solenoid
Thankyou But I have question. Is magnetic field of solenoid independent of the cross-sectional area of the solenoid?

GOAT
3:20 why you used rectangle instead of circle ?
@janshepard55
4 жыл бұрын
i think we can take any closed loop (any shape) in space as long as we sum up the B//l along it. here by taking a rectangle you can only consider the line within the solenoid coz the other 3 lines are negligible, hence the b field within the solenoids center axis
how did you get u0 mu 0 for the example at the end of the video
@mechvex8726

Its a constant
@mechvex8726

Oh that makes sense thanks
why would the field outside the solenoid be zero?
❤
Why is the magnetic field that is perpendicular to a solenoid equal to zero?
1:54 what happens to current enclosed variable(Ienc)
what a minute, how about the area of the of the solenoid , I don't think the length is all that matters.
I keep getting .026T not .26T isn't 10 to the minus 7= .00000001?

I have physics finals after 2 days lets start the study marathon
So the ampere law just show us the formula for solving the strength of magnetic field ?
The solenoids diameter doesn’t matter?
how about an electric motor
