OMG, barely a minute in & I’m crying (before Covid, loss of a close loved one & turning 60, hardly ever cried) but Amos’s music always touches me deep within my soul. Is that good or bad, who knows, but I adore him & his craft❤️👍😀👍

This actually is an uplifting song. He is expressing how he wants to be free from his past. “I wanna burn up” isn’t him wanting to die in a fire lol it’s him wanting to be at peace within himself for all of the mistakes he may have made. Beautifully written. Who doesn’t want peace within themselves? ❤️ Been loving Amos for 20 years now and every time he never misses the mark.

Perfect tune for some dramatic cable show/western. A song about death of some sort, and rebirth; starting fresh and anew after self annihilation. Rather timeless theme. I totally dig it. Was introduced to his music in 2008 by my son. Saw him in 2013 at the DPAC. The live connection with him is elavated to higher level! Had no idea the journey that was ahead of me, but I forever blessed for my son introducing his music to me and for the expression of connection of song writing and his voice that bring a calmness when needed.

Uplifting, is in the eye of the beholder/ear of the listener. Music is subjective. Means different things to different ppl. Plus, most of Amos's music is positive/uplifting. But we can't always be "up" in life. Sumtimes u go thru crappy times and as musicians/artists, its ok and natural to express/reflect that in ur music/art. 😁
